In the latest retrospective of the YaST team we concluded that any developer touching a repository without Coveralls badge should take the opportunity to enable Coveralls for that repository. I took the action item of documenting how to do it. [yast-devel] YaST:Head is built only for Tumbleweed/Factory now

Hi all, Short version: If you want to use YaST:Head for development you have to use the openSUSE Tumbleweed distro since now. Long version: The YaST:Head project has been switched from the old libstorage to the shiny new libstorage-ng. The drawback is that for compilation it requires the latest compiler and tools from TW/Factory. That means it won't compile anywhere else. So I had to disable all other build targets (including 42.3) in the YaST:Head OBS project because they would not build anyway. The only exception are some rubygems so you should be still able to submit the packages using rubygem-yast-rake even in the older openSUSE distros. As a side effect I did quite a big cleanup and removed a lot of backported packages there. Additionally this saves quite a lot of the build power on the OBS side. Note: For the older distributions we still use separate subprojects (like YaST:openSUSE:42.3 or YaST:SLE-12:SP3) but these are intended for maintenance, not for Head development. -- Ladislav Slezák YaST Developer SUSE LINUX, s.r.o. [yast-devel] Device#extra_info in libstorage-ng

I'm thinking about adding a simple feature to libstorage-ng that I hope will be useful to simplify the implementation of some YaST stuff. An extra attribute Device#extra_info that the users of the library (YaST in our case) could use to store any arbitrary information associated to each device in the devicegraph as a free-form string. Why? While implementing advanced handling of Btrfs subvolumes in the new expert partitioner together with Iván, I found myself in a similar situation for second time in a short period of time. That is, implementing a rather complex and error-prone solution for something that could be implemented in a much more straightforward way by adding some YaST-specific attributes to the libstorage objects. In this particular case, having the fields BtrfsSubvolume#auto_added and maybe also Btrfs#subvols_to_restore. Polluting libstorage-ng with such purpose-specific fields that has nothing to do with the general libstorage goal doesn't look like a bright idea. But offering a general-purpose "container" attribute would be just a few lines of code in libstorage-ng and I can see a lot of potential to simplify YaST code. What do you think? Anybody against?
