This one is not about using ButtonBox widget (at least not from the developer's point of view) because the inconsistency is in our design of the whole Wizard dialog. We often use this approach for configuration wizards: [/Back/][Next] [Back] [Next] [Back] [Finish] According to Keith Briscoe, who's already reported several button-order-related bugs, this is in fact a bug considering our wiki page http://old-en.opensuse.org/YaST/Development/Misc/Button_Order and also considering the KDE style that tries to follow a human-speech order. [OK] / [Apply] / [Continue] / [Finish] / [Yes] / ... always presented before [Cancel] / [No] / ... So, in Wizard, we still use the GNOME button order although YaST runs in KDE. I think that we could try to change the order in Wizard.ycp (or, in fact, in its Qt implementation) but it would be quite a big change and it needs to be discussed first. Hey everyone :) I noticed that the global variables Deleted and OriginalDevices were not updated in NetworkInterfaces.ycp/Write() causing changes to an interface to be written over and over again. The attached patch fixes the problem and updates the testcase NetworkInterface2 accordingly. [yast-devel] post mortem debugger for ycp

Hi, looking at the log produced by running yast with Y2DEBUG set to 1 I realized that it contained enough information to write a debugger that parses it. I saw the announcement of the ycp debugger and must admit that I haven't looked at it. But working with the recorded trace allows some fancy stuff like walking backwards and it's written in python so it is easily hackable. Well, here it is, it served me well and it might be useful for someone else. Feel free to put it in the repository if you like. [yast-devel] New yast agent name

Hi, now in git we have for yast++/-- name for our agent systemagent ( and also not unify singular and plural). It is also coded in generator. Before we start work on more agents and libs (like for polkit configuration ) it would be nice to decide if this is right name. Ideas for other names: yast_agent configkit (there is still not enough kits :) yast_kit config_agent system_kit more ideas? Also singular or plural to unify it? What suggestion do you have? MIT, BSD or some kind of GPL? Hi, As almost all of you know, separating libYUI is a part of GSoC 2011 for openSUSE. I am happy to inform that the majority of the porting effort is done. libYUI and it's plugins have been ported to various distros as of now including Ubuntu, Fedora and Debian. Also, recently, Michal Hrušecký has ported it to Gentoo. You can find the details on his blog post : michal.hrusecky.net/2011/08/libyui-in-gentoo/. I believe that it is time now, for libYUI to have it's own identity. Hence I have set up a project page for libYUI at sourceforge (sourceforge.net/projects/libyui/ ) . It includes a bug tracker and a mailing list (libyui-devel) as of now. And as of today, it also includes a basic webpage indication essential information about libYUI (http://libyui.sourceforge.net/) I believe that this would enable libYUI to get more attention from a larger audience, in terms of use as well as development, which is essential for libYUI at this stage. Hence, I request interested developers to send in their sourceforge ID's so that the appropriate permissions can be set. Hi, on appliance workshop there is idea that we should abstract and reuse our tasks for packaging, integration with build service and interesting verification. I like this idea and because for yast++ it would be nice to have such functionali, I start implement reusable solution. [yast-devel] Partitioning Scheme

I don't if this is the right list to send this to but, during installation of openSUSE 12.1, Yast offers a default/recommended partitioning scheme. The given /boot partition is set to be formatted as ext4. Journaling is not needed though - shouldn't the partition be formatted to ext2 instead for efficiency? [yast-devel] YCP debugger: prototype

Hi! Since there was interest in still providing YCP debugger, I gave it a shot and here is a first prototype. I did not test it to actually trace a real module, but it provides the basic functionality and I need feedback what needs to be improved, possibly reporting bugs. Hey everyone :) I noticed that the ipaddr wasn't decomposed into IP and prefix in writeInterfaces so the IPADDR field contained both the IP and the prefix and the PREFIXLEN was left empty. This seems to cause little problems in practice since most of the time both variables are concatenated again, but if you set the IP address using YaPI and read it out again (also using YaPI) you ended up with a string containing an extra trailing /. I think this is why the yast web client code contains lots of .delete("/") in network_controller.rb. The attached patch fixes this problem. Hi, I've just done a small research in SLE 11 SP1 and SLE 11 SP2 SVN branches trying to find changes committed to SVN (both SP1 and SP2) but not submitted to build to SP2. Some of the changes might have been already submitted to SP2 but there is no version change comparing to SP1. Usually, we should make sure a version is increased if there is such a difference. Plus the usual way of submitting YaST package is to increase the version number whenever we submit it - never rely on the build number. Versioning rules: SP1-GA: 2.17.(X) SP1-GA-Update: 2.17.(X).(Y) SP2-GA: 2.17.(X+N) SP2-GA-Update: 2.17.(X+N).(Z) If there is a change in SP1 in SVN but you are not allowed to submit the package to SP1 yet, please, create a new SP2 branch and the version there and submit it to SP2 now. Example how to create SP2 branch (for 'restore'): svn cp http://svn.opensuse.org/svn/yast/branches/SuSE-Code-11-SP1-Branch/restore/ http://svn.opensuse.org/svn/yast/branches/SuSE-Code-11-SP2-Branch/restore/ I haven't checked the current state of packages in build versus how they are stored in SVN.
