Hi! As a plan B (or fallback), here is VirtualBox image of web-yast: ftp://cml.suse.cz/appliances/openSUSE-11.1_Web_YaST.vdi.lzma Note: it's accessible only from internal network. - upgrade to last VirtualBox version (tested with 3.0.2) - copy and uncompress image into local disk (work with copy) - create new vbox machine and attach existing disk (uncompressed image) - change network type from NAT to Bridged network and use your interface (usually eth0) - user is "hh" and password "hhhhh" (same password for root) - copy and use YOUR ssh key - use IP address of vbox machine instead of localhost - don't forget to have a fun ;-) In case of any questions, just ask ... [yast-devel] Are there any major changes planned for YQPkgList

I've submitted a patch to YaST:Head for YQPkgList yast2-qt-pkg which totally fixes bnc#441828 in fact I used a patch from /Comment #19 <https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=441828#c19> /in the bug and it works very well. It works with svn yast2-qt-pkg-2.18.7 which doesn't build due to YQPkgDescriptionView.cc:118: error: 'const class zypp::Package' has no member named 'filenames' without the patch. Are there any major changes planned for YQPkgList which might conflict with the patch? I've used the patched yast2-qt-pkg-2.18.9 since Monday. Patch is at home:plater:branches:YaST:Head. Hi! I'm doing walkthrough the "Installation from source" wiki page and one of the steps is "Check your system". Comments for this particular piece. 1) It is not clear that you have to change to 'rest-service/webservice' directory first to run it. 2) seems the task depends on rcov somehow, so if you don't have rcov gem installed, rake task will not even start 3) the script ends when encounters first problem. I've started with pure JeOS template, so far I've to run the script 15 times and counting. 4) check requires to have installed all policies for all plugins it knows (the list seems to be hardcoded). IMO this should not be the case. When you have just checked out the sources for the first time, you can hardly expect the policies in place. Furthermore, it is not obvious how to install them. The policies can be installed via 'make' (!!!0 in rest-service directory, but this does not work, the paths are obsolete. 5) packagekit is required for development 6) /etc/yast_user_roles The file seems to be optional, system_check asks for it anyway, but does not provide any hint where to get it. 7) Why do we test all plugins are working properly? It's not clear what the test does and why it's doing it. In the end, it has blown for me like this: *** Error: plugin SystemtimesController does not work correctly Please check the logfiles What is user supposed to do with this?!? At that point, I gave up, although 'rake db:migrate' helped me to get one step further, but ending up with the same message in different context. I'm going to clean up what I can, document the rest in wiki. If anyone can help me with item 7), it would be great. Hi, yesterday, thanks to James Tan's help, I set up an accout in SUSE Studio and copied the appliance that Lukas made. If you would like to hack on the appliance, I can add you to the account. But beware, the shared account mechanics is poor at the moment: - your OpenID can belong on one account only. Hi! I'm working on clean up of the WebYaST Wiki and I've found this: http://en.opensuse.org/YaST/Web/Development#Testing_ideas There are quite some links on testing technology called 'cucumber'. While interesting, I'm not sure at all if we are going to use it. So, if we are not going to use it, I will remove the links to avoid confusion. Do I miss something? Hi all, here is my report about UI testing of web applications. I checked two possible testing systems - Watir and Selenium. (Note: I haven't tested Selenium fully yet, this document just describes the current status, I'll continue the next week.) Watir ===== Homepage: http://wiki.openqa.org/display/WTR/Project+Home Installation: http://wiki.openqa.org/display/WTR/FireWatir+Installation Properties ---------- Tests are completely written in Ruby, objects on web page are represented by Ruby objects, e.g. button = browser.button(:value, "Click Here") My results ---------- It doesn't work for me :-( Following script require 'rubygems' require 'watir' browser = Watir::Browser.new correctly opens a new Firefox window, but it prints this error: Watir::Exception::UnableToStartJSShException: Unable to connect to machine : 127.0.0.1 on port 9997. Make sure that JSSh is properly installed and Firefox is running with '-jssh' option Running Firefox manually with -jssh option didn't help. Maybe the JSSh plugin doesn't work correctly in Firefox 3.5 ?? Note ---- It seems to be rather IE oriented, documentation contains IE related code and some features (fortunately minor) are missing in Firefox, see http://wiki.openqa.org/display/WTR/Firewatir+Compatibility Selenium ======== Homepage: http://seleniumhq.org/ Installation: http://seleniumhq.org/download/ Properties ---------- The tests can be created in an IDE (Firefox plugin) which records user actions in the browser and saves them into a testcase. You don't have bother about finding HTML element names on the page to create a test case. Test cases can be later loaded and replayed. You only need to add result checking commands to them. The most important thing is that it is possible to export a test case as a Ruby test script which uses SeleniumRC component.
