[yast-devel] testing multiple vbox machines with network

Hi, I've just wanted to test working with several webyast appliances at the same time. This is how it worked for me: - using yast - create a bridge interface - create 2 tap interfaces - edit the bridge and include the ethX and the tapX - using virtualbox, select bridged networking and the appropriate tap interfaces. - when booting both VMs at the same time, you'll probably need to restart networking (dhcpcd of the second one kind of stalls). [yast-devel] ruby extensions for SLES11 GA?

Hi, 2 weeks ago rubygem-mocha was updated in devel:languages:ruby:extensions and as a result, our SLES11 GA build of WebYaST broke. I solved it by including also the updated rubygems-1.3.5 there. But SLE SDK has rubygems-1.3.1. [yast-devel] Just note about PATH in YaPI modules

I now find where is problem in NTP synchronization in RC3. It is problem that PATH in YaPI modules is not same as PATH for user root. So if you run any script or program from /usr/sbin or /sbin use full path to that script otherwise it is not found. Also I found that many YaPI modules doesn't log anything. Maybe it should be useful to add some logging to easier debugging customer issues. Here is the list of improvements I would like to see in a future (after release) iteration. Some of them may have bugs already, others may not. I would like to get some feedback before making bugs reports. I hope also that we get more priority to make the core product great to use instead of the old- classic "add a module to configure foobar" (which is something ISVs should better do) *) System services: * collectd working... (running) start stop status * cron working... (running) start stop status * dbus working... (running) start stop status ... ... Isn't that too much to read? - I suggest to use a small icon to show if running or not), may be a slightly animated heartbeat (soft to the eyes). - Start and stop do not need to be separated, you can't have stop if it is not started, they can use the same state (toggle) so the text switches to stop after you start. - I did not understand the "status" link, for me it looks more than a "refresh" of the "running" text. This can be done by either having just one refresh link for all, or just poll the server for changes using ajax. *) Registration The text "regcode-sles". IIRC this is a limitation of the current stack because this text comes from suseRegister. The user may not know the meaning of an empty field. For example if using DHCP one could fill the nameservers field with "Will be auto discovered". This is also valid for fields that are not disabled, where a text for the empty state helps the user to make a meaning of the text being empty *) Mail settings If security is disabled, then username/password should be disabled. If the server is not configured, then even the security checkbox can be disabled too. *) Administrator password The 3 save buttons is confusing. IIRC kkaempf already reported this. It is confusing because this module has the ability of doing instant apply before clicking next, while network saves at "next" clicking time. "Forward mail to", what goes there? an email address? How the user guess that? he needs to think, which is what we want to avoid. Hello, I like to display a literal '&' in a UI dialog string like: ---------------------------------------------------------------- `InputField( `id(`options), _("Options (option1=value1&option2=value2)"), "" ) ---------------------------------------------------------------- but neither "Options (option1=value1\&option2=value2)" nor "Options (option1=value1\046option2=value2)" works for me. When I run the module with yast2 --gt module and with yast2 --qt module the text which is shown in the dialog is always Options (option1=value1option2=value2) i.e. the '&' character is omitted. Hi, since I was just thrown out of WebYaST because network restarted DHCP ... !! WebYaST modules must only write back those value !! which were actually changed ! To pick up the initial example, leaving 'automatic' IP assigment must not restart the network.
