Hi, when testing openSUSE 11.1/SLES 11 I came across a rather curious situation: many modules have already switched their label from Abort/OK(Accept, Finish...) to the style guide compliant Cancel/OK label. However in every case there is a third, inactive "Back" button included. This doesn't make sense as there is nothing to go back and the dialog is just an overview. I suppose this is due to many of you using wizard.ycp as base template for creating your module. What do you think about using the button box (http://lizards.opensuse.org/2008/08/28/button-order-in-yast-trying-to-make-…) instead of the buttons of wizard.ycp? In my opinion this would have the following advantages: * consistent button order in pop ups and in the module * user would not need to deal with an inactive button * button order in YaST would be consistent with the desktop used by the user What do you think about that issue? There was discussion if we can use HAL instead of (or together with) hwinfo. So first, what is difference between informations that both of them provides. This solves the problem of "'zypper in foo', foo not found, but i will install a bunch of other packages if you want" :O) (jkupec bnc #389694) - simple "(X/Y)" for "installing Xth of Y packages" counter added to zypper's output (jkupec bnc #240588) - added convertor for converting old locks to new (jreidinger) - there is a problem with time consuming searching of locks if a lock contains an unknown attribute (the query ignores such attributes and can return a lot more packages than intened). We need to find a way how to at least log such cases, currently we are not able to tell whether the attribute is known or not. Hi, I am trying to install RC1 on my old notebook. A change compared to 10.3 is that I get a kernel panic before linuxrc comes up. http://en.opensuse.org/Installation_with_Little_Memory says to use _tmpfs=0 which does help (although http://en.opensuse.org/Linuxrc says _TmpFS is "No longer supported") But as it says, the system is indeed extremely slow and little memory is left. I am somehow disappointed because I was hoping that the refactored zypp would actually free some memory. Hello, trying to compile yast-$SUBJ package I have following error message: YCP.cc:15:33: error: ycp-ui/YUIComponent.h: No such file or directory On 10.3 that file was part of yast2-core-devel. But now (11.0) I can't found it. I suppose it should be in libyui package, but no success ... After the text freeze, string changes are only allowed, if the original message is so bad that translators do not have a chance to get it right. String additions due to bug fixes or because of missing _("tagging") are allowed. Typos and other cosmetical things will be fixed with overloads in en_GB.po and en_US.po files. [yast-devel] Selection delay for ComboBox widgets?

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=382755 shows that it might be useful to add a timeout to the ComboBox widget so it holds back events when many (keyboard) events occur in a short time frame. Our SelectionBox widget and (since some weeks) our tree widget behaves in that way: When you go through multiple items in a short time, only the last event gets delivered, not all the intermediate events. This can make cursor key navigation (or dragging with the mouse) in such a SelectionBox or tree much more useful: When expensive operations are performed at each such event and only the last of those events is meaningful anyway, the intermediate events are not delivered, so they don't have any impact on performance. Example: +------------- | [Item 001] | | Item 002 | | Item 003 | . ... ... . . ... ... . | Item 999 | +------------+ Keeping "cursor down" pressed until "Item 999" is reached would not make UI::UserInput() or UI::WaitForEvent() return for "Item 002", "Item 003", etc.; only for "Item 999". See also http://svn.opensuse.org/svn/yast/trunk/libyui/examples/SelectionBox2.cc for a UI example that allows experimenting with that (use the "notify" and "immediate" check boxes and watch the "value" field as you keep cursor keys pressed in the SelectionBox or drag the mouse there). This behaviour usually useful, but it comes at a cost: An event is always only delivered after the timeout is expired. The Qt UI uses 200 milliseconds (the same as the mouse double click interval), so it's not too bad, but it can make an application appear less responsive. That's what `opt(`immediate) is for for SelectionBox and tree widgets. By default, the 200 millisecond timeout is used (for those widgets, not for everything), but with `opt(`immediate), the events are delivered immediately. But in that case, you will also get events for each of "Item 002", "Item 003", etc. - that's the tradeoff. Now here is the question: Can we safely add this to ComboBox widgets, too? Right now, events are delivered immediately, i.e., it behaves as if `opt(`immediate) were set, too. Should we add the timeout, the default behaviour would change: There would be the 200 millisecond timeout with `opt(`notify). Application developers (YCP hackers) that don't want this behaviour for whatever reason would have to add `opt(`immediate). Another factor are editable ComboBox widgets. I am unsure how they should behave. Remember, with `opt(`notify) you get individual key presses (just like in InputField / TextEntry), and delaying them, too, might result in odd application behaviour (or wouldn't it?). Would we want that timeout behaviour there, too? Or would we just do it for non-editable ComboBox widgets? Opinions? Problems with such a change? Anything I overlooked?
