[opensuse-packaging] Creating Maintenance Request for non included software [Leap]

[short summary] During the creation of Leap, I've tried to sr postgresql94-plr to Leap. It was refused, at that time postgresql94 wasn't yet properly submitted to factory, casue 94 version was directly coming from SLE. postgresql93-plr was submitted to Leap and accepted. Now dust has settle. Actually here the situation : On Leap you can choose between postgresql 9.3 and 9.4 version. Unfortunately for user of 9.4 they can benefit the postgresql94-plr due to the refused sr. I would like to create a Maintenance ticket to push postgresql94-plr to Leap. It's a non sense to tell users to broke their system by using the -devel projet. I know how to do that for existing package, but for a non existing one. Someone has an example of how to do this ? Hello, In my institute we are selecting the operating system and Leap 42.1 is a strong candidate. In the selection process we are deeply analyzing the packaging and package management aspects. Currently we use openSUSE 11.1 and some custom GUI packaging and installation tools based on RPM. With the new OS we would like to follow the packaging good practices of the distribution. We have already tried building packages for the python projects, using the python setup.py bdist_rpm (based on distutils), but we also wanted to give a try to the "openSUSE:Packaging guidelines [1]. We mostly use Python and C++ projects, hosted on sourceforge/github or our local repositories. We do want to implement Continuous Delivery, so automatic packaging and deployment to the testing environment is crucial for us. Initially we do not foresee to publish our packages to the distribution, but maybe in the future we would like to do that for some of our projects. In your portal we have found several recommendation to use the OBS [2]. But our understanding is that OBS is just for the packages aimed to be public. We have not found information on how to build locally packages apart of a link to the Fedora How to create RPM packages [3]. There is also a possibility to setup our private OBS system, but maybe it is too complicated solution for what we need right now. Could you provide us a guide on how to do packaging in the most compatible with the openSUSE standards way. Thanks a lot for your help! [opensuse-packaging] Any limits on dependency resolver script?

Hi, I wrote two external Provides/Requires resolver scripts for nodejs packaging. Usually such scripts should take what RPM pass through it, that is, filelist of buildroot. But: 1. I ran the script locally by passing exactly the same filelist through, it ran fine. 2. I let the script run on OBS, it gave different result, indicating that a nested "each" loop is not completely looped (correct: loop 14000 times; wrong: loop 19 times) 3. I modified the code, to find the filelist myself. the result is correct. So the problem is due to what RPM pass through. But, eg, the self found list: /home/abuild/rpmbuild/BUILDROOT/...../gulp/package.json the passed through list: /home/abuild....package.json\n the result was wrong even after I stripped '\n'. so I wonder if there're any limits on resources in RPM dependency resolving? like CPU usage... Hi, I have stumbled over a small problem regarding versioned directories. Currently, it is expected a versioned library uses a pattern like /usr/lib/ libfoo-1_2_3/bar.so. Although this allows multiple packages, it is contrary to what some upstreams use for versioning, e.g. /usr/lib/libfoo/1.2.3/bar.so. From an RPM perspective, both are ok, as directories can be owned by multiple packages. rpmlint throws an "W: shlib-policy-nonversioned-dir" warning, which is IMHO wrong. Hi everyone ! I recently asked to Andreas how I could help in maven support enhancement in openSUSE and he suggested me to open a thread in the packaging maillinglist, and in particular with people who have been in touch with Andreas about maven. Actually, I really need to get maven officially included in openSUSE, like Java project maintainers I suppose. I think we could begin by making the following things : 1. Doing a list of maven packages and dependencies we need to achieve Maven inclusion 2. Doing a TODO list, like the one which has been done for the python > python3 equivalent providing 4. Creating our own project we could be involving into 3. Assigning the tasks to volunteers. What do you think about that ? I'm waiting for further ideas. Regards. Hi, I updated texlive 2015, and it builds fine. https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:MargueriteSu:branches:Publishi… now I have TWO things that I can't understand: 1. In its specfile: %define texlive_version 2015 %define texlive_previous 2014 %define texlive_release 20150521 %define texlive_noarch 97 %define texlive_source texlive-20150521-source Version: %{texlive_version}.%{texlive_release} Release: 0 But the generated RPMs looked like this: https://build.opensuse.org/package/binaries/home:MargueriteSu:branches:Publ… texlive-2015.20150521-20120597.4.i586.rpm I think the "-20120597" prefix for release number comes from nowhere. I grep everywhere from its package source (tarball,patches, specfile, changelog), there's even no "201205" existing. Where can I find and change it? 2. %package a2ping-bin Version: %{texlive_version}.%{texlive_release}.svn27321 the "svn27321". As I know, the textlive-20150521-source doesn't have any .svn directory or file telling which svn the source is. What's more interesting, different sub-packages have different svn numbers :-( Where does these svn numbers come from? Hi, I packaged ocserv in network:vpn and I wanted to submit it to Factory. Dominique suggests me to raise this topic. I wrote the instruction in README.SUSE before: #### Shutdown SUSEFirewall2 through YaST Because I don't know how to convert iptables rules to SUSEFirewall2 ones. If you can help me, please fork this package and submit back. #### Set iptables rules sudo /sbin/iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 9000 -j ACCEPT sudo /sbin/iptables -A INPUT -p udp --dport 9001 -j ACCEPT sudo /sbin/iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -s 192.168.1.0/24 -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE sudo /sbin/iptables -A FORWARD -s 192.168.1.0/24 -j ACCEPT The 9000/9001 ports, IP range 192.168.1.0/24 are default ones, you can change them in /etc/ocserv/ocserv.conf Warning: Your eth0 may not exist, you can ifconfig -a to find yours. #### Enable IP forward sudo echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward It doesn't live after reboot. ===================================================== How can I achieve the same result without shutting SuSEFirewall2 down? Dear opensuse-users, when adding the latest systemd release from: https://software.opensuse.org/download.html?project=openSUSE%3AFactory&pack… In the install manually section the following command is provided: zypper addrepo http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:Factory/standard/openSUS… After adding it a File '/repositories/openSUSE:Factory/standard/openSUSE:Factory.repo' not found on medium 'http://download.opensuse.org/' error message occurs. Pointing with a web browser to that url will also return a object not found error. What is the right url for fetching e.g. the latest systemd release from the factory repository? Hi, I've been struggling to check in the spec file for OpenImageIO, every time I check it in a conditional: %ifarch ppc ppc64 -DNOTHREADS %endif gets moved from the cmake build flags to the bottom of the %build section. I superseded my request to factory and uploaded the spec file via web ui but now something else has changed and the build fails. What is doing this and what can I file a bug against? I am not sure whether libtar is really that commonly used. Hi, How do I require a version range? E.g. I need lua 5.2.x I tried: BuildRequires: Lua(devel) >= 5.2, Lua(devel) < 5.3 But this will fail with a "Have choice" error, so rpm / buildservice finds lua 5.1 and lua 5.2 for BuildRequire " Lua(devel) < 5.3". So it does not combine the two statements.
