[opensuse-kernel] Keep 3.11.y kernel for openSUSE 13.1 updates?

Hi, Since 3.11.y maintenance was discontinued by Greg, Ubuntu took over it. It made me wonder: are we willing to continue 3.11.y for openSUSE 13.1 updates, just relying on Ubuntu? Would it make sense to enable TTY_PRINTK? It can be used to redirect the system console to the same channel printk uses (write-only, of course), eg. it can be used to capture user-level console messages via netconsole (which doesn't provide a tty device on its own). [opensuse-kernel] Kernel Stable 3.13.7 : osc build inapropriate ioctl

I've updated my laptop this morning with the last kernel-stable 3.13.7 available. Since then build package with osc build create a new kind of error never seen before I'm using a -virtio initrd and build in kvm mode. [ 28s] libgtk-2_0-0-2.24.22-2.1 ######################################## [ 28s] error: unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/lib64/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0.2400.22;533830a1: cpio: read failed - Inappropriate ioctl for device [ 28s] error: libgtk-2_0-0-2.24.22-2.1.x86_64: install failed The error appear at random package, I've tried to build different package same result. I'm using the whole stack of repo:virtualization ( thus I've no idea if its correlated ) But having the laptop on with 3.13.7 and running the build with 3.11.10 work normally. [opensuse-kernel] CONFIG_HID_BATTERY_STRENGTH on x86

Hi guys, Our x86 kernel settings would let us enable CONFIG_HID_BATTERY_STRENGTH. This feature sounds rather cool to me, even though I don't think I have any device implementing it, but I suspect other openSUSE users may do. Looking through git history, I see that it was briefly enabled in x86 config files, between openSUSE 12.2 M2 (commit d017ea13f) and Beta1 (commit 37113a827.) No explanation was logged as to why it got enabled and then disabled. This feature is enabled in most armv6hl and armv7hl config files, since openSUSE 13.1. Don't we want that feature enabled in i386 and x86_64 config files as well? And maybe even arm64 and ppc*? I mean, wireless keyboards can be used on any system, can't they? The listed test on the linked page doesn't seem to work correctly. It doesn't echo that my system is 'affected', (even though it is). Why implement a workaround that taints your kernel? Hi Jeff, As part of commit 92db3f1a: Author: Jeff Mahoney <jeffm(a)suse.com> Date: Fri Nov 15 17:53:40 2013 -0500 config: build uncommon HID drivers as modules you set CONFIG_INPUT_FF_MEMLESS=m in all s390x config files. I can only guess this was by mistake and you aren't really playing car racing or other games on your S/390 systems, right? :D So I would like to revert that change. CONFIG_RCU_FAST_NO_HZ was finally an option for our desktop kernel flavors. You actually enabled it on x86_64 but not on i386, making i386/desktop our only x86 kernel flavor with CONFIG_RCU_FAST_NO_HZ disabled. I can't really think of a good reason for that. Do I guess right that this was by mistake and i386/desktop should also have CONFIG_RCU_FAST_NO_HZ=y? Thus I believe the CGROUP_SCHED chunk should also be removed from patch kconfig-automate-kernel-desktop.
