[opensuse-kernel] "Warning! ehci_hcd should always be loaded before ..." message still there in kernel 2.6.27.37-0.1

Hi, I assume that this is the right list to post it (rather than opensuse-bugs), but I may be wrong, so any comments are welcome... The issue triggering the message (in dmesg) "Warning! ehci_hcd should always be loaded before uhci_hcd and ohci_hcd, not after" is stil there in last kernel update (uname -a = Linux mir 2.6.27.37-0.1- default #1 SMP 2009-10-15 14:56:58 +0200 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux). As discussed between list users Jean Delvare & Greg KH in message- id:<200905051826.54284.jdelvare@xxxxxxx> from 5 May 2009, the 2 ending lines here (in /etc/modprobe.conf): # "Warning! ehci_hcd should always be loaded before uhci_hcd and ohci_hcd, not # after" (bnc#449853) # mkinitrd hints: # SUSE INITRD: uhci-hcd REQUIRES ehci-hcd # SUSE INITRD: ohci-hcd REQUIRES ehci-hcd install uhci-hcd /sbin/modprobe ehci-hcd; /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install uhci-hcd install ohci-hcd /sbin/modprobe ehci-hcd; /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install ohci-hcd are missing in the /etc/modprobe.conf from /boot/initrd-2.6.27.37-0.1-default. Manually modifing the file in the initrd (and appending the 2 missing lines) solved again the issue, so that would be really nice to get rid definitively of this problem as soon as possible... [opensuse-kernel] KOTD/HREAD: kernel source not in sync again

Since Wednesday, there were three updates of KOTD/HEAD and with none of them the provided kernel source version was in sync with the provided binaries. Hi, I hope I'm not too offtopic here ;) What's the chance that we will get an uptodate kernel for FACTORY a bit more often (say, once a week)? Anyway, this kernel is so ancient, that I do not even dare to report bugs against ist anymore). I know there's 2.6.32-1.4 in the repo, but as that's only a rebuild, I doubt it will fix things up. Or is the common wisdom to use the KOTD nowadays? Is it stable? Can I build my KMPs against it in the buildservice? [opensuse-kernel] Any Archived openSUSE Kernels?

I have a box which runs 11.1 fine & seemingly 2.6.27.X kernels, but not 11.2 or any 2.6.31.X kernels I've tried. Are there any archives of "golden" kernels, so I could do a bisect to find which release breaks things? 2.6.29 2.6.30 || 2.6.28 Using generic binary rpm's would be a huge time saver on compiling vanilla from source. [opensuse-kernel] Install Driver Problem

Hello, can any tell me the correct driver for a ICH10R installation ? I have to install 11.2 on a Intel Board DX58SO with a Bios Created Raid1 (SoftRaid) on Board is also a Mavell eSATA Controller: The Marvell Driver is found and installaed but with this Config I can't Create Partitions with YaST2 :( when I found the coorect driver can I include this driver with the command- line in YaST2? insmod=ahci BrokenModules=ata_Marvell ??? Greg? I don't know of any that would. I vote for the "ignore this change" as it came from upstream, and any external driver would have to handle it anyway. And note that there almost are no external drivers anymore, with the exception of ati and nvidia, so that reduces the chance of a problem even more. The default config from install for this card is not working during install the ifcfg-wlan0 have other params than given. So with Yast i made a new configuration for the card giving the mac adress for the AP it has to connect to No power management Finish yast and .................... INTERNET !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its working as it always has. Big thanks for helping me. iwconfig output gave me the way where to to look and what to do. [opensuse-kernel] usb-storage and usb masstorage access of vmware guest OS

With SUSE-11.2/kernel 2.6.31, there seems to be no possiblity to have access to an USB mass storage device attached to the host from an guest OS in vmware 6.5. With the 2.6.25 kernel of SUSE-11.0 it used to work. With the 2.6.27 kernel of 11.1 , the mass storage driver changed behaviour and grabs the mass storage device again after being thrown out by vmware. Vmware then fails to access the device. Workaround was to unload the USB mass storage drivermodule. But now with with 11.2 and 2.6.31, the USB mass storage driver is no longer compiled as module. So the option to unload the module is gone, too.
