Hi, I am looking to checkout the doc sources from svn. I did an anonymous checkout on trunk from the forge, but it's empty. Did I miss something? merging community & Novell docs & tutorials

Hello ! I have heard that a new community tutorials are planned for SUSE Linux. I want to participate. Where can I find the links ? Second topic - I would like to add some of community's how-to's & Novell docs together - and have them installed *by default* on all new SUSE Linux setups. Is there any realistic way to merge docs?

Request for information - Yast Documentation

Hi all ! I would like to learn more about Yast - both how it works internally - and what configuration files each Yast module changes *and* how to create Yast modules - that is - programming for Yast. Unfortunately the *only* docs I were able to find about Yast - is the FOSDEM 2006 videos + programmer's tutorial - while the material is of high quality -- it's simply not enough to get started. Where can I find some good Yast documentation or books ?

Community docs in SUSE Linux

Hi all ! I am a SUSE Linux community member - and I would like to discuss the possibility of including more documentation in SUSE Linux - and - what most important install those docs by default. Two important things to add: 1) Some "Advanced Installation" topics - this is already exists in openSUSE wiki. 2) "For Windows Users" - this should describe how to work with SUSE Linux - the KDE desktop, installation of MP3 and other codecs - and where to find community help - such as Freenode IRC & Forums. All other Desktop OSes have this section - on Mac OS X & on each Windows there is a section for previous generation Windows users. SUSE Linux lacks here. maybe also add a few Free Linux books as optional rpms - such as "rute" and "maximum RPM". What do you think ?

I don't see mails here, I wonder if I'm subscribed :-) If you read this, I am :-) I'm on the way of writing a course about server admin at a low level (level of the course users :-), in french, sorry, look at the fr.opensuse recent pages :-) I come to the page about mail and postfix. I made this last year with suse 9.0 and could hack the main and master.cf files to make my server work (I use it now, so it works :-). but now I adapt this to 10.0 and have two differences. * the computer I setup is not the gateway and as my actual gateway is strongly used, I must make the shift very short, so all must be ready first * Yast seems to have evolved in the good direction. So I didn't use yast, may be I could now. But I don't find any relevant doc. (yast2, mail agent). I simply don't understand the way yast works on this module. it probably lack very few things. Howto compile one chapter without ENV-SLPROF*?

Subject. Once again, even for a single xml-file I need this environment configuration. Or I have to translate WHOLE manual? And then you'll provide me that file... But now I what to check compiling just of one chapter: encoding, working with images, etc, to find possible problems at first steps. How can I compile for example English version of doc from that source code? I dont know how to work with NovDoc. I don't see enything suitable for building html or pdf. There is no documentation. SVN is empty. I'm not so cool hacker to understand it. -- Lafox.Net DocTeam Freelance Translator

Multimedia pack information wrong?

Hi, on http://www.opensuse.org/Restricted_Formats is written: "However, if you would like to play MP3s on SUSE, you can install a Multimedia Pack from the YaST Online Update Servers." Is this still valid for 10.0? On the opensuse@-list I just read: "One is to install Realplayer and the helix-plugins for amarok and gstreamer. Another one is to install libmad and mad, or just everything from packman, what plays multimedia." Links to external repositories are not allowed, so would it be o.k. to change the text to: "However, if you would like to play MP3s on SUSE, you can install Realplayer and the helix-plugins for amarok and gstreamer. Another possibility would be to use external software repositories as long as you comply with your local laws. They are able to provide you with unrestricted 'mad' and 'libmad' packages, which allow MP3-playback." As I have not upgraded to 10.0 yet, I can't check it myself, but which additional yast-source (official SUSE ones) must I add to get Realplayer and the helix-plugins, if I start with the OSS- or Eval-version? This should then also be noted on the above page with a link to the relevant section in the installation doc. Ciao Siegbert

XML Source Codes for 10.0 available

Hi, thanks to Karl Eichwalder, the XML source codes of the 10.0 release is available on NovellForge[1]. The XML sources are an instance of the NovDoc DTD which is based on DocBook. Hello, I wait for the french wiki being available to write there my french "admin linux baby" course (to be adapted from 9.0).
