Hello all together, perhaps there is someone out ther who knows how mplayer or xine under Suse 64 works. I have tryed to install from Pack Mans Page, but it doesnt works. Perhaps there is someone who declare it for an newbie. thanks a lot Heiko

Hi- I tried to upgrade from 9.0 to 9.1 on my NP zv5000 AMD64 upgrade went well until booting installed system. Then screen was blank for about 10min. No problem as a clean install is not a bad idea but I get same resull. I suspect the 1600x1050 lcd screen is the issue. Any suggestions b4 I try another clean install? Thanx Robert (Bob) L. Powernow-k8 full speed on AC only

I have the Mitac 855 Athlon64 laptop (same machine as Erich). I have successfully got dynamic power throttling and full cpu speed working in kernels 2.6.4-54.5 and 2.6.8-rc2 but only when the power is applied. If I remove power, the system drops to 800MHz and remains there, no matter what power profiles are configured, or what speed is passed to /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq. I was forced to set other=ignore in /etc/powersaved.conf as suggested by Andi Kleen (thanks!) but that's all I changed, besides trying to force full speed in the battery profile. Also, when I boot up on battery, the speed remains at 800MHz even if I restart powersaved. Similarly if I suspend to disk, and then resume. (More on suspend/standby later ;) Any Ideas?? Thanks! Hi, I've parsed the archives titles but have not found anybody speaking about MSI K8T Master 2 dual-opteron motherboard. Basically, I want to know if someone has tested this board with SuSE 9.1 or SuSE Server for AMD 64. Thanks for the information. Olivier.

SuSE 9.1 on Sun Fire V20z Server

Hello everybody, I have a problem installing SuSE 9.1 Professional AMD64 on a Sun Fire V20z Server. According to Sun it is possible to run SuSE Pro 9.0 in its 64bit-version on that server (http://www.sun.com/servers/entry/v20z/), but trying it it doesn't work. Has anyone experiences with that constellation? A bit more information about the error that occurs: We can enter Yast Setup, but after choosing language and selecting the installation source (I tried it via NFS, DVD and FTP) a red window pops up and says that installation is not possible and it's aborting. The 32bit- version of SuSE 9.1 Pro runs, but I would rather want to install the 64 bit version... Can anyone help me, please? Hallo, kennt jemand von Euch ein Programm welches unter suse 9.1 64bit DVDs abspielen kann? Ich habe bisher xine benutzt. Das funktionierte wunderbar, leider nicht unter der 64bit Version von suse. Zum kompilieren von Quellcode fehlt mir die Erfahrung. Deswegen die Frage, gibt es irgenwo ein kompiliertes 64bit Xinepaket oder ein anderes Programm? Gruß Heiko

SuSE 9.1 on ASUS K8V SE Deluxe / Gigabit / Cool&Quiet

Hi, I finally assembled an amd64 machines: ASUS K8V SE Deluxe motherboard, Athlon 64 3000+, IDE disk, 2x512MB PC3200 Kingston memory, SuSE 9.1 64 bit from DVD installed fine. After booting I installed all patches, reboot went fine. I bought a cheap PCI gigabit card (RTL-8169, 21 euros) for my other machine and was able to do 58 MB/s from the other machine to the amd64, and 37 MB/s from the amd64 (measured with netcat < /dev/zero). My switch is a cheap Netgear GS105 (75 euros) and I use cat 5E cables. Is there any tweaking I should try to improve performance (like frame size)? Not that I need it :). I did not try SATA, Firewire, USB, sound (yet). Is Cool&Quiet supposed to work with this mobo/processor/kernel? I activated the option in the BIOS, but looks like SuSE says it isn't supported.
