My location is: City: João Pessoa Province: Paraíba Country: Brazil. I am ready for openSUSE because i was very impressed by this distribution and i have experience as ambassador of other distribution. I want promoting openSUSE in my country and distribute medias. I think the best kept secret of openSUSE is the quality of software produced, the tuning with the newest technologies and his active community. I love to do this because i like the freedom of open software gives. I started with linux/openSUSE due to my agreement of the open software purpose. My level of experience is intermediary. Conference travel sponsorship program

Hey, as you probably already have heard the openSUSE conference team is starting the travel sponsorship program to financially support community members to attend the conference. If the only thing that keeps you from attending and contributing to the conference is that you can’t afford all of the travel costs then you should apply. As always, we value contributions the most! So obviously we prefer speakers (you still have until midnight July 25th to submit something!), people who help with the organization and openSUSE Members. Also our Google Summer of Code students/mentors and Ambassadors from very far away are high on our list. However, depending on funds and contributions, we will try to accommodate as many people as possible! To apply for support, you need to make an estimation of your travel costs. Search for a cheap airfare or train trip, look for hotels and make a rough estimation of your costs. Then send that estimation to us via travel-support(a)opensuse.org until August 5th! We’ll contact you about our options for your sponsoring. Please note that we won’t be able to pay everything for everybody all the time. The sponsorship program has limited resources and we want to make the most of it. Let us be blunt: Request only what you really can’t afford yourself and use this program as a last resort! Proposed Sessions for openSUSE Conference

Greetings folks on the Ambassadors, Artwork and Marketing Teams! As you know, the CFP for openSUSE Conference deadline is coming very close this weekend. As part of the CFP Committee, I have reviewed proposed sessions and saw some missing stuff so far, which I think we should consider. I have created four proposals tonight though I have not attached any moderators to them yet. (I wanted to get them in before we miss the deadline.) BoF Proposals: "openSUSE Ambassadors Discussion": A BoF to bring together our openSUSE Ambassadors and discuss strategies for the coming year. (Manu and Kostas, do you wish to lead this session?) "Organizing our Artwork Repositories": A look at the current state of our openSUSE Artwork GIT repository and discussing ideas about ways to improve availability and access of artwork for everyone. (I propose one person from Marketing and one from Artwork to co-moderate this BoF. Any volunteers?) Hacksession Proposals: "Marketing Team - Multimedia Planning" Let's storyboard some ideas for cool openSUSE videos that we can use at events and online. In this hacksession, we will organize our thoughts and create basic storyboards for videos and podcasts (Several of us have had some excellent ideas over the years but we never moved forward on it. Its time we came together and put those ideas to good use. JDD, would you like to co-moderate this with me?) " openSUSE 12.1 Artwork" Review of artwork for 12.1 promotion and 12.1 Desktops (I'm not exactly sure what is needed here, but I put it in anyway. Does anyone from Artwork Team wish to moderate this hacksession?) If any of you have ideas for other topics, *please* submit them soon. It is better for the CFP team to have many topics to review than too few. And I know many of you have awesome ideas. I see a few already from some of you! Thanks! I enabled anonymous preview. If it doesn't work, ping me, Bryen, AJ or anyone else from the news team on IRC - it seems that wordpress on news.o.o forgets this permission sometimes! Please review it, tell me what I've missed and what mistakes I made. On a sidenote, if you put images online, it is best to put them on Flickr in the openSUSE Group (like Max did, thanks!) and preferably with a Creative Commons license. I can only use images which are free to use. I cheated this time and used Max' picture, I hope he doesn't mind :D Cheers, Jos

Dear Paulo, By the way, for some time I was thinking to do an openSUSE event, could be an launch party, in Cristo Redentor. Do you know if Is there any chance to have a nice openSUSE launch party on top of "Cristo Redentor", http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christ_the_Redeemer_%28statue%29, Will be cool to be the first distro to do an launch party in one of the New Seven wonders of the world, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Seven_Wonders_of_the_World#Brazil , I have some posters, and we can order some DVD's, flyers and stickers to make this event happen. R: I was star using openSUSE 1 year ago, now i'm promoting open SUSE in my work place * What are your plans for promoting openSUSE? Please tell us what you want to do the next 6 months. R: Here in paraguay we have some events of free software and some comunity of free software too my idea is start promoting openSUSE there and them i'm one of the organizator of the FLISOL in my city and them i want to promote to * Are you ready to start promoting openSUSE? R: I am ready for this and i will do the best i can. After all these years as linux user/supporter i feel it's time to work hard for this. * What do you think is the best kept secret of openSUSE? Please tell us what you want to do the next 6 months. >> We are considering to do the same event-conference again for the new students that will come the new semester (at the technological educational institute of Kastoria) and we also discuss representing it at the technological educational institute of Kozani * Are you ready to start promoting openSUSE? >> I find this sector very interesting and i would like to learn more about it or even work for it. It would be a great opportunity for me to promote linux, as via this i will be able to help other people to learn about them. or just inform and encourage them to discover the world of linux. As regards opensuse, i started working with it six months ago. As concerns linux i believe that my level of knowledge is satisfactory as i have been working with them three years already and the basics are known to me.
