Hello!
I would like to discuss possible www.opensuse.org-todos for 2009 with
you.
My ideas till now are:
* redesign first wiki page
* implement that all o.o pages get the CSS (etc.) from static.o.o
* add more screenshots, specially to the wiki
* create screencasts to show openSUSE or help other users
* we will have to find a solid way to add/publish the screencasts
* offer some simple and pragmatic help pages for real beginners (kind
of howto style)
* may we could use help.o.o for this?
* create a ToDo-List for release times, means: All the stuff that
needs to be done during release time.
And in general I would be in the mood for a complete redesign of
opensuse.org to make everything slimmer, faster, easier to use, and
more sexy ;-). I would like it in the style of the new webclient
(Current snapshot of HTML/CSS development: http://webtest.opensuse.org/_webclient2/)
. But this design is to slim to use it 1:1 on opensuse.org.
A redesign is pretty time intensive, so it's more a topic for Q3++ 2009.
I'm looking forward to read your input!
Best,
Rob

Ah, cool! I checked yesterday but too early...
Thanks for deployment, everything is working for me.

Hi,
I just commited a large patch into SVN which replaces the FancyZoom lightbox
with a new ZoomBox.
I did this vor various reasons:
- ZoomBox is a jQuery plugin and thus better integrated
- ZoomBox has dropshadows in IE while FancyZoom had them only on Firefox
- ZoomBox has prev/next navigation in zoomed images
Updating is a piece of cake: A simple SVN up will do. As soon as the previous
update (chinese translation) is deployed, ZoomBox will be rolled-out too.

Andreas

Hi,
I changed all stylesheet/javascript /image links of the openSUSE frontpage.
They now point hard-coded to frontpage SVN checkout on static.opensuse.org
This reduces the server load since static.opensuse.org is highly optimized to
deliver static content.
The code is now in SVN but not deployed on the live server yet. Reviews of my
changes are highly welcome.

You're right! Sorry, I was mistaken - I really ment simplified chinese!
I added a new translation (zh_CN), the ch_TW translation stays untouched! :-)

Hi,
I finally found time to create a traditional chinese frontpage based on your
translation. I merged my changes into SVN, the next update will bring it
online. I guess this will be around monday.

Hi,
I fixed a few translation errors in the spanish translation and added a whole
new simplified chinese translation (zh_CN), which differs from the traditional
chinese translation (zh_TW) spoken in taiwan.
The changes are already committed into SVN:
@Mike, Robert/Peter: Please update the frontpage whenever you find the time.
No need for simultanously updating www.o.o with static.o.o, untimed updates
will do fine.

Hi
On the forum was a discussion (deleted now) about the Flags on www.o.o. If you
select Chinese language you will get a flag of the Republic of China and it
seems that people from the People's Republic of China are offended (i hope i
didn't mixed this up ... ). The problem is that flags are for countries, not
languages ...
I guess a combined flag will not help, so why not just delete the flag until
somebody have a better idea?

Hi,
I removed the 11.1 countdown from the frontpage and replaced it again with
Robert's openSUSE sticker/badge like it was before.
The changes are in SVN, a deployment should be done on www.o.o and on
static.o.o, since the changes affect a stylesheet.
