On the forum was a discussion (deleted now) about the Flags on www.o.o. If you select Chinese language you will get a flag of the Republic of China and it seems that people from the People's Republic of China are offended (i hope i didn't mixed this up ... ). The problem is that flags are for countries, not languages ...
I guess a combined flag will not help, so why not just delete the flag until somebody have a better idea?

The currently used flag is taiwan IIRC since the chinese translation is traditional chinese spoken in taiwan. There is no simplified chinese translation online yet, which would feature the chinese flag.
Kane already sent my a traditional chinese translation. Unfortunally, I had no time to update the website yet. I try to merge the translation this weekend.

Whe had a long discussion last summer in IRC channel about the mixup of languages and countries. We had no better idea since without a flag, nobody would understand that this is the language selector because he simply cannot read it. The flag is less then ideal, I agree. But IMHO it is the best compromise available. And best practice, too... ;-)

They maybe would if you replace the Chinese flag (only this one) with the text "Language/Language_translated_in_the_actually_used_language"
All the flags are for countries (aren't they?) I don't know why they feel offended ? The translation templete of Kane's simplified Chinese translation is from me. http://www.linuxsir.org/bbs/showthread.php?t=340904 I think all Chinese people are friends and brothers So I gave him that templete, and hope people from PRC can have a frontpage of simplified Chinese.

I created a traditional chinese frontpage (featuring the chinese flag) based on Kane's translation and committed it into SVN .
I hope this will settle all argues. :-)
I guess the changes will be online around monday, when the Novell people are back into offices.

Hi Andreas: Kane's is Simplified Chinese frontpage, not Traditional Chinese update. Maybe he forgot to change file name to website_frontpage_translation_zh_CN.odt Please don't change zh_TW page (http://www.opensuse.org/zh-tw/) and the flag. Kane's translation is for zh_CN.
