I have been working on installing and configuring a new application delivery controller for Provo. We are now ready for some testing and would like your help. To test the new load balancer for those sites, you can add the following entries to your hosts file (/etc/hosts in *nix and C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts in Windows):
130.57.66.2 login.novell.com
130.57.66.3 esp.novell.com
130.57.66.6 www.opensuse.orgen.opensuse.orgde.opensuse.orgforums.opensuse.orgnews.opensuse.orglizards.opensuse.org
I only included two of the wikis, but you can add your favorite wiki(s) to the last line. After you save your hosts file entries, just use the sites as you normally would. When we are ready to cut over, these are the addresses we will be using.
Here are some of the fixes and features that we will get with this new load balancer:
Some people have reported TCP level connection issues which shows as a page "spinning" indefinitely, often needing a refresh to make it load. So far, those who have tested through the new load balancer have reported the issue as being resolved.
IPv6 redundancy (the current IPv6 setup is not HA)
HTTPS support
TLS 1.2, hardware encryption, TLS session reuse, false start support
Later, I will add logic to enforce SSL for authenticated users to prevent session hijacking
SYN cookies and other DDoS mitigations
Connection multiplexing, which reduces demand on the web servers
We are also investigating future enhancements, such as SPDY and application firewalls. Thank you all for your support, and happy testing!

Hey,
here are the results of the landing page BoF we just held at osc12.
Participants were Christian, Tom, Gábor and me.
We compared our own landing page (www.opensuse.org) with a lot of
"competitors" pages, talked about the content we would like to see on it
and came up with a first idea of what and how.
I took some notes on
https://trello.com/board/landing-page/50850ac9fe4ddd101b003b04
The next step is comming up with a first prototype and agree on which
technology to use.
Everybody is more than welcome to help :-)

Hi, guys.
I'm working on theming question2answer, which is basically a Q&A
application (http://question2answer.org) that is
translation/plugin/theme ready.
It's developed using php & mysql instead of ruby on rails that
stackoverflow and ask.ubuntu.com use.
It means everyone interested can join development without any limits,
eg, to learn rails. I was about to add translations to OBS, oh my, I'm
still learning rails half a year later.
I'm coding here: https://github.com/marguerite/help.o.o (welcome to fork!)
I hope one day we can make help.o.o no longer a static page.
that's the background. (I didn't promise that I can finish it alone in
a timely manner...I just code when I want to)
So here I need some resources which I can refer to integrate Novell account.
I know there're some in the internet, like news/lizards.o.o and wiki.
but they're either no source code or mask the post-method
destination(seems, because I didn't find such things on gitorious and
github). So can someone give more hints?
In short...I need some API doc...
Thanks
Marguerite

Hello,
as discussed before, I scheduled a BoF at the conference (Monday
12:00-13:00).
The wiki will be one of the topics, but not the only one. Today's
project meeting showed that more areas of our infrastructure need some
discussion (responsiveness of admin@, planet.o.o, wiki, CSS etc.)
Therefore I named the BoF "admin@ - technical issues/discussion about
opensuse.org infrastructure"
I don't have a fixed list of topics for the BoF - we'll see which areas
are the most important to discuss. If we need some more time, I'm sure
we'll find a place to continue even if we have to leave the room ;-)
Note that there's a separate BoF about the www.o.o landing page with
Henne an hour before (11:00-12:00)
Regards,
Christian Boltz

Applied to http://en.opensuse.org/MediaWiki:Common.css it doesn't work.

http://en.opensuse.org/DFIR_-_Audit_Tools
It is not wiki contributing editor fault to have problems deciphering
our structure that requires hours of study before anything can be
written. Current structure is not a low threshold for potential
contributors, nor for new wiki editors.
DFIR can look better, but it is up to wiki team to give advice, and
help editing. Wiki maintainers have to find time for easy and
educational approach. Deletion request for article that was obviously
created with limited knowledge of wiki editing is far from that.
In particular Greg is one of people that are trying to help openSUSE
with his expertise in Digital forensics and incident response (DFIR),
which can attract more experts from that field to openSUSE and
most likely SUSE. They will find article, even in its rudimentary form
as useful.
This another article he wrote:
http://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Digital_forensics_and_incident_response
Obviously it needs rework, ie. to put some content in other articles,
but curretly abused openSUSE namespace is probably not right answer for
such articles. SDB, probably, not too.

After some 2.5 years in production it would be time to review wiki
status and what we achieved with reconstruction. It is possible
to Problem is that wiki does not offer time based statistical overview,
so short post to web mail list should offer this kind of time line.
