Hi, I'm tripping over an "Invalid license" error with some python packages... What can I do? influxdb2: nodejs packaging help required

Hi, I would like to package influxdb2: https://github.com/influxdata/influxdb that is the next major version for server:database/influxdb Probably, they will coexist for some time, but it doesn't matter currently. I've found that influxdb2 is provided with a built in WebUI interface based on nodejs(?) and it requires about 2000 packages from npm to be built. Even though I can do it manually, there is no internet connection in OBS. I have not found any info on the wifi how to overcome this issue. Probably I need to preferetch these sources from npm and put them as a tarball. -- With best regards, Matwey V. Kornilov

Hello, python-sip, python-qt5 and co. have always been kind of a foreign body to C++ focused KDE:Qt5. May I propose to create devel:languages:python:pyqt and put related packages into that one? Maintainers could be python and QT/KDE people together. ## List of existing packages to be considered: python-pyqt-builder python-pyqt-rpm-macros python-qt3d-qt5 python-qt5 python-qt5-sip python-qtcharts-qt5 python-qtdatavis3d-qt5 python-qtwebengine-qt5 python-sip python-sip4 qscintilla-qt5 ## New packages to be created (using the PyPI names as naming template instead of continuing the legacy rpm package names. Of course appropriate `Provides:` tags for the rpm names should be included): python-PyQt6 (also providing python-qt6) python-PyQt6-sip (also providing python-qt6-sip) python-PyQt6-3D (also providing python-qt3d-qt6) python-PyQt6-NetworkAuth (also providing python-networkauth-qt6) python-sip6 (see below) ... and more of the family as they are released upstream. ## Not PyQt[56] but closely related or the "competitor": python-PySide6 python-PySide2 (currently python3-pyside2) python-QtAwesome python-QtPy python-poppler-qt5 qutebrowser eric ... Package and deliver own build keys

Hello, we sign our packages with our own keys. What is the best way to deliver this keys? I tried it like opensuse does it with their opensuse-build-key RPM package. The keys are placed on /usr/lib/rpm/gnupg/keys (as the opensuse package does), but they are not recognized by rpm. How do I import them correct? Question on macro python_enable_dependency_generator

Hi, I'm not sure how this dependency generator sets dependencies for subpackages. I have a package FOO with a subpackage FOO-Special FOO-Special adds some functionality and requires some additional pacakges, that most users of FOO will not need. So it would be a waste of resources if all the additional packages from FOO- Special would be installed with FOO as well. So do I need to call the macro in each sub-package, or is a single call sufficient? How can I make sure that all dependencies are detected? From a first test I found at least one that is not fulflled.... Cheers Axel

It looks as if the coreutils package was once built and copied from SLE, and then a newer glibs>=2.28 was installed in Leap:15.3 without triggering a rebuild of coreutils. Is this true? Why? Shouldn't have a new build cycle been started when updating glibc? Looking for advice: packaging a package with own modifications

Hi all, some days ago I got aware of the OpenBoard package, which is built in the openSUSE Education project. As my wife is a teacher, she was very happy that this was available for openSUSE Leap 15.2. I then wanted to switch from the latest release evrsion 1.5.4 to the current release candidate of 1.6.1. Additionally, I created a new tool to draw a coordinate system on the board. This is available in a fork on github at https://github.com/letsfindaway/OpenBoard. To package this work, I did the following: - I did an osc copypac to copy the Education:OpenBoard package to my home project at home:letsfindaway. - I updated the source with the zip archive downloaded from my project at github. - I updated one of the patches and removed two others, which have been upstreamed since 1.5.4. This works well, but I have a few questions: 1. Is copypac the right way? Is copypac the right way to create an own package which is quite similar to an existing one? How close is the binding to the original package after copypack? Are they independent or will the copy inherit any modifications to the original? 2. Best way to add own modifications First I thought I could just use the source zip from the original OpenBoard repository and add my modifications as a patch. However as my work contains a new image file in png format, I did not find a good way to put this file in a patch. Are there any recommendations how to do this? What about multiple Source specifiers in the spec file? Would they be approriate? How are they handled? 3. Version specification for such derived work Currently I'm just using 1.6.1 as the version specifier, which does not indicate that the package contains additional work. What would be the best way to express this in a version number? Finally I just want to thank the openSUSE people for providing such an awesome service as the OBS for such anybody!

Building against Tensorflow with Bazel

Hello, I'm trying to package libedgetpu [1], which uses Bazel [2] for building against "org_tensorflow". My clumsy experiments are at [3] currently. Has such a scenario been encountered with Tensorflow yet? I'm not clear on what I should use as --override_repository="org_tensorflow=???" here: bazel-workspaces [4] does not seem to include Tensorflow yet, and it seems to me, libedgetpu is loading Tensorflow's tensorflow/workspace.bzl - not just link against its libraries, for which the bazel-workspaces files appear to have been hand-crafted. Should tensorflow2 [5] grow some -source sub-package with these files, like apparently some bazel-* packages do? Or would this require to duplicate the 50 MB Tensorflow tarball and all the other tarballs in tensorflow2 into each package that depends on Tensorflow due to tensorflow/workspace.bzl referencing them? For the package openafs I have created two maintenance-requests for the version 1.8.7 The second (important) one is also accepted : https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/870193 However, on https://software.opensuse.org/package/openafs I see for TW the version 1.8.7 but for LEAP 15.2 the version 1.8.5 The version 1.8.5 is just broken. What needs to be done (by me) to get the latest version into the update-repo ? Anyone willing to help me building kiwi images?

Hi, I'm trying to get my hands dirty with building VM and ISO images on OBS... and i'm kinda lost, my first attempt is in home:lemmy04:astrotoolbox/baseimage, it's supposed to be a generic image that provides the user with a login to a GUI, with Plasma and XFCE being available. The final result will be based on that, and have pretty much all astronomical software installed - stellarium, skymap, xephem, kstars and so on, and should work as VM image or from DVD/USB... ...but right now it won't build at all, and the error message does not mean anything to me - it talks about something like "duplicate configuration" or something? but I'm working with a very generic kiwi template that should "just work"... Any ideas? om-feeling-like or KDE preset

I have recently tried the live OpenMandriva Lx 4.1 on KVM. I found they have a very nice application called "om-feeling-like" that is an ui that give someone possibility to use preset kde theme and dock. You can choose different preset desktop that could look like OpenMandriva, Unity, Windows 10 or 7, Mac OSx. It a very fast way to setup a desktop to one liking. Is there any plan to offer something similar to OpenSUSE ? Hey all, *Please forward to anyone potentially interested* In the wake of the post survey discussions, a bunch of volunteers have risen to the challenges of improving diversity, knowledge transfer and cross-community bonds: https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Newscom We feel like a bi-weekly newsletter might work for that, to be served on our web platforms and shipped in the form of a mobile screen friendly newsletter, available in the most spoken languages in the community (for starters: Spanish, Indonesian, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian) and broadcast across all information channels available. Unlike its glorious ancestor (https://en.opensuse.org/Archive:Weekly_news_99) the newsletter will have both a cultural and a technical facet. You'll learn more about the former in our upcoming call for participants, but I'd like to ask you something about the latter: would some of you -- I have in mind contributors to 101.opensuse.org, package maintainers and Heroes -- be interested in, respectively: - being advertised in our first issue (to fix ideas: we could write an article about 101.opensuse.org and encourage people from these communities to participate as either maintainers, mentors or mentees) - having their package spotlit, simply to make it more visible or attract new maintainers - highlight key areas in our infrastructure, platforms and activities that could benefit from more volunteers. Need help fix xreader: symbol lookup error

Hello, I recently update the package xreader 2.8.3. https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/X11:Cinnamon:Factory/xreader Starting xreader from terminal I got. symbol lookup error: xreader: undefined symbol: ev_document_model_set_rtl I did not make change to the spec file macro at all, I just change the version number. The version 2.8.1 work fine with the macro. The issue start with 2.8.2 and 2.8.3. I'm not sure if this due to missing dependency or not. I tried installed evince-devel because ev in ev_document_model_set_rtl is relate to evince, but the issue still occur. I also report in here https://github.com/linuxmint/xreader/issues/452 but no response yet. Kind regards, Andy

lots of weird build fails

Hello @all, I'm seeing several cases in my home project where builds on anything < Tumbleweed (i.e. 15.2, 15.3) fail, always with the same error: [ 56s] + %set_build_flags [ 56s] /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.qudRi2: line 33: fg: no job control [ 56s] error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.qudRi2 (%build) [ 56s] Here's the fun bits: - the source and spec file havent changed in weeks, sometimes months - there is no "%set_build_flags" anywhere IN the spec file the broken bit seems to be in what in the spec file reads as: %prep %autosetup -p1 so ... how do I fix this? Dear Tumbleweed hackers and packagers It's been a while since I did a cleanup round of stuff that is not building. It's about time to do so again. Especially in light of GCC11 incoming, the number will only go up, not down. Today, I have filed a couple delete requests for stuff that did not build for > 6 months. Need help updating codelite package.

Hello, I am trying to update codelite because codelite in TW is very old now. https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:andythe_great:branches:devel:t… I encounter many error related to sqlite. undefined reference to `sqlite3_column_decltype' undefined reference to `sqlite3_column_count' etc I assume that I could not find sqlite, I have add many sqlite related packages to see what sticks but no progress.
