[opensuse-packaging] Building virtualbox host modules for a custom kernel

Hi, I am currently building my own kernel due to a patch I've yet to convince upstream to carry. My kernel is hosted on OBS, but I am only building it locally since I don't think it's fair to tie up the resources to build the kernel for a single person. I am also using virtualbox, but right now I can't install it since the kmp very quickly gets out of date compared to the kernel I'm building. What options are there to build the virtualbox host modules for a custom kernel, that is not published on OBS? [opensuse-packaging] What is causing this problem

Hi, this comment keeps on appearing in multimedia:libs/libkate: The version of this package in openSUSE:Leap:15.0 has installation issues and may not be installable: can't install python-katedj-0.4.1-lp150.2.1.noarch: nothing provides python-wxWidgets needed by python-katedj-0.4.1-lp150.2.1.noarch but inspection shows that python-wxWidgets provided by python-wxWidgets-3_0 is present and correct. I see that both packages come from factory via SUSE:SLE-15:GA I've thought of explicitly requiring python-wxWidgets-3_0 instead of plain python-wxWidgets in an attempt to silence this. [opensuse-packaging] Building gcc5-go for SLES12

Hi everybody, I needed a gcc-go package to build git-lfs for SLES12: https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/home:ojkastl_buildservice:git-lfs_f… So I tried to build it myself, which worked by hacking the spec and disabling some java stuff, as you can see in the revisions: https://build.opensuse.org/package/revisions/home:ojkastl_buildservice:git-… My gcc-packaging-newbie question is: Is this the intended way? Would this normally be solved by some prjconf entries enabling the gcc-go subpackage? Or is this triggered by some other mechanism? And: If build_java has to be disabled to build go, does this mean one cannot build both at the same time? Just trying to get the concept behind that... Thanks in advance! Johannes

Hi, I am building a cryfs [1] package in my homeprj, to maybe push it further to Factory later. CryFS depends on boost and I am struggling which boost to base on. There are several version-packages of boost on our distributions. Can somebody explain me why we have so many different "boosts" and how I decide which one to BuildRequire? [opensuse-packaging] Troubles with BuildRequires gcc-go

Hello everybody, I tried to get git-lfs to build for SLES12, and finally succeeded for SP3. https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/home:ojkastl_buildservice:git-lfs_f… I had to rebuild gcc5 to get a gcc5-go package. As I found no way to build gcc-go, only gcc5-go, I put a Substitute-line in my prjconf: Substitute: gcc-go gcc5-go This seems to be usable (the package builds), but I was wondering how this is being solved in Tumbleweed. Or why does git-lfs build fine in devel:tools:scm for Tumbleweed without voodoo in the prjconf? https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/devel:tools:scm/git-lfs I guess it is due to this bit in the gcc spec: > package -n gcc-go > Summary: The system GNU Go Compiler > License: GPL-3.0+ > Group: Development/Languages/C and C++ > Requires: gcc = %{version} > Requires: gcc%{gcc_version}-go Does this mean I have to also build gcc package in my project to get a gcc-go package? Or is this something that could be solved by some pkgconfig magic in the spec file of git-lfs? Also, how to correctly build for the Backports-Projects, which seem to already have gcc5, but are missing some libraries to fully use it: > nothing provides libasan2 >= 5.3.1+r233831-14.1 needed by gcc5, nothing provides libmpx0 >= 5.3.1+r233831-14.1 needed by gcc5, nothing provides libmpxwrappers0 >= 5.3.1+r233831-14.1 needed by gcc5 Sorry for the lame questions, but these were just too many layers of abstraction for my brain... ;-) Johannes

This macro resolve correctly on TW and Leap 15 to /var/lib but on 42.x and Some SLE12 it point to /usr/com ... [opensuse-packaging] Installing extra text files into doc directory fails

Hi! I have a quick question regarding extra documentation files. The upstream tarball of python-msrestazure is missing a separate LICENSE file. I just downloaded the one from the github repository and added it with "Source1: LICENSE.md" in the spec file. However, adding it to the %doc section doesn't work, during package build, the file isn't found because it apparently needs to be copied into the source root first. Is there any common way to place additional text files into %doc?
