[opensuse-packaging] CVE-2010-5252 seems to be windows only. Agree?

I maintain httrack and there is a new update out that addresses a CVE covering the version in openSUSE 12.3. http://web.nvd.nist.gov/view/vuln/detail?vulnId=CVE-2010-5252 But the CVE relates to a having a trojan dll in the local directory. Doesn't seem to apply to openSUSE. I prefer not to update it in 12.3 (I just sent the SR to factory: SR#196331) If I'm missing something, let me know. [opensuse-packaging] Vim with YouCompleteMe Plugin

Hi, Have any of you tried to use VIM in openSUSE with YouCompleteMe plugin https://github.com/Valloric/YouCompleteMe ? There is no .vim file available as the plugin requires some kind of compilation. I am not too keen on doing the compilation as the build process seem to be too complicated (with something like bundles, and no clear list of dependent packages, too many dependent plugins (required syntastic which in turn needs pathogen) etc.). So wanted to check if someone has a binary that I can use. I searched in the OBS repos but could not find it there. So wanted to ask here instead of trying to continue with SublimeText. [opensuse-packaging] libclaw (с++) required for games devel project

Hi to all. LibClaw is required to build some games I would like to package. (C++ Library Absolutely Wonderful is a C++ library of various utility functions. In doesn't have a particular objective but being useful to anyone.) I could send it to Factory via games or via devel:libraries:c_c++. If I choose devel:libraries:c_c++ project the link in the games project will be required. All, I'm packaging a new trivial little python package, but "python setup.py install" is failing. === copying build/lib/OleFileIO_PL.py -> /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages [ 26s] error: /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/OleFileIO_PL.py: Permission denied [ 26s] error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.YLxUr9 (%install) === The package https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:gregfreemyer:Tools-for-forensi… I've don't know python well, so I don't know enough to create a patch. Ideas/suggestions how to fix it would be great. (Or I need to learn some python, so I'll look at it tomorrow myself.). [opensuse-packaging] Heads up: Python2 / Python3 parallel installation

Hi everyone, the next openSUSE release will have very strong support for Python3 and I've been working a lot on improving parallel installation of Python2 / Python3 modules. In other words, the most important packages (virtualenv, pip, nose, coverage, Sphinx, ...) now use update-alternatives. Any new Python package or update on an existing one should make sure it won't collide with it's py2 / py3 (or even pypy in the future) counterpart. That means you would want to check binaries and man-pages, they make up for 99% of file conflicts. Other candidates are desktop files, icons, ... In short, everything that doesn't install into %python_sitelib / %python_sitearch or isn't marked as %doc. If you want to get free hugs, please implement update-alternatives and consider the following packages for inspiration (in devel:languages:python): python-Sphinx, python-nose, python-pip Their counterparts live in devel:languages:python3. It that's to much effort, please assure that at least the file conflict candidates are suffixed with %py_ver, e.g. %{_bindir}/nose should become %{_bindir}/nose-%{py_ver}. For Python3 packages it's %py3_ver (I know :-). This way we can use u-a later if it becomes necessary. You can either do this by fixing entry_points=[...] in setuptools-based setup.py files (if present), fixing scripts=[...] in all setup.py files or simply by moving around binaries in %install. Since a few days/weeks zypper dup complains about the incorrect dependencies of a package which happens to be installed in my Factory installation: Problem: nothing provides typelib(Gst) = 0.11 needed by liferea-1.10.0 https://build.opensuse.org/package/rawlog/openSUSE:Factory/liferea/standard… The logfile shows no 0.11 gstreamer package, just the rpm requires check seems to be wrong. The only thing with "0.11" in it is "libxslt.so.1(LIBXML2_1.0.11)". Is there already a fix for that in some of the Devel projects? [opensuse-packaging] What license do I use?

I'm creating a new package which I hope will go to factory. I've added the license file as a standalone file in the package until I figure what to call it. In the internal files it calls it a "updated PIL license" <https://build.opensuse.org/package/view_file/home:gregfreemyer:Tools-for-fo…> Assuming no one knows what the license is, when this is ready for factory, should I just send it with that license name and see what legal wants me to change it to? [opensuse-packaging] Building of python packages disabled

I notice that building has been disabled for everything but factory for a large number of python packages in devel:languages:python. These packages build fine for earlier releases, in fact some haven't been updated in years (others were updated within the last few weeks). I don't see any mention of this happening on the mailing list. Is there a reason this was done? In RPMLINT report, it says [ 1638s] eucalyptus-console.x86_64: E: suse-filelist-forbidden (Badness: 10000) /usr/share/eucalyptus-console/static/js/views/jp_vols/template.html.orig is not allowed in SUSE [ 1638s] Your package installs files or directories in a location that have previously [ 1638s] been blacklisted. Please have a look at the particular file and see if the [ 1638s] SUSE Packaging Guidelines propose a better place on where to install the file [ 1638s] or not install it at all. Where should I put this file, why this file is blacklisted ? Is there any documentation give a full description on file location and blacklist?
