[opensuse-packaging] yast2-gtk patch for maintenance release

Hi! The yast2-gtk package is at version 2.21.58 in the project openSUSE:11.3. However, a few bugs [1] were detected and the developer upgraded the version to 2.21.64 to fix them. Now, I have created the patch for the fixes against the older version, in a branched project [2]. To address the version updates, I renamed the source binary from yast2-gtk-2.21.58.tar.bz2 to yast2-gtk-2.21.64.tar.bz2, and the directory in that source also to yast2-gtk-2.21.64. In other words, the source in the branched project is identical to the one in the original project, with only the name changed. Then I apply the patch via the usual patch macro in the spec file: %patch -p1. Everything works, package builds without complains and installs fine. Solves the problems. Eventually, I want to submit this for maintenance release, and I wanted to know if the procedure I followed is an acceptable way of doing it or is there a better way to do this? Is it okay if the package being submitted for a maintenance release has a source with a different version number compared to the original package in the distribution? Hello What lines needs to I need to add/fix in specfile [1] to resolve the following errors and build the rpm. The full log see [2]. I got the package from [3]. [opensuse-packaging] Factory is not 11.3

Hi, 11.3 is now gold and as such every update to it has to go through the maintenance team (http://wiki.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Maintenance). You can submit stuff to factory as you like, but we will only do checkins as 11.3 is out. [opensuse-packaging] contrib submitrequest error

Dear all, i try to add a new package to contrib (java3d) as this is required by another package (prune), which cannot be build without it. calling : /> osc sr home:hschaa:SweetHome3D java3d openSUSE:Factory:Contrib -m "add java3d , required by prune and others" only gives an error like: Warning: failed to fetch meta data for 'openSUSE:Factory:Contrib' package 'java3d' (new package?) Server returned an error: HTTP Error 403: Forbidden No permission to create request for package 'java3d' in project 'home:hschaa:SweetHome3D' I was followed the guidelines in http://wiki.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Contrib and http://wiki.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Build_Service_Collaboration Thanks for you help. [opensuse-packaging] Wrong (?) shlib-policy-name-error for mono bindings

Hi, I'm trying to update gnome-keyring-sharp to 1.0.2 since the current gnome-keyring-sharp in Factory doesn't work at all. But I get this rpmlint warning: gnome-keyring-sharp.i586: E: shlib-policy-name-error (Badness: 10000) libgnome-keyring-sharp-glue Your package contains a single shared library but is not named after its SONAME. However, the content of the package is: %{_libdir}/libgnome-keyring-sharp-glue.so %dir %{_prefix}/lib/mono/gnome-keyring-sharp-1.0 %{_prefix}/lib/mono/gnome-keyring-sharp-1.0/Gnome.Keyring.dll %{_prefix}/lib/mono/gac/Gnome.Keyring And I think it'd be wrong to split the shared library to its own subpackage because it's really only needed for this mono stuff. I'm a bit reluctant to add a rpmlintrc file for this, though. Any idea? [opensuse-packaging] libpng error on Factory

Hi I'm having trouble with the new versions of libpng (I think) my grabby project (webcam utility) here http://tinyurl.com/2ulm8pw It builds fine for 11.2 and SLE11 SP1, but I cannot figure out if it's a code issue or a png.h issue. I'v removed all the Makefile items to exclude the debug build.
