[opensuse-packaging] Mono packaging for openSUSE

Hi all, are there any rules for Mono packages? I found Packaging/Mono [1] imported from Fedora, but not yet reviewed. But it seems that we could adopt Fedora document as-is, because our existing mono packages like beagle, f-spot or tomboy matches those rules: 1.) mono packages are not noarch 2.) .dll files are installed to %{_libdir}/name or %{_libdir}, but not to /usr/lib Am I right? Can anyone experienced with mono packaging review the Packaging/Mono document? [opensuse-packaging] automake 1.11 in the queue

Hi, Philipp submitted automake 1.11 to go into openSUSE:Factory and as it's the nature of automake updates - they break a lot of packages. [opensuse-packaging] Important osc version 0.119 release !

The new osc version 0.119 is released and available in the openSUSE:Tools project. It comes with a new build script package as well. You will need this version of osc to handle new kinds of requests, which will come soon to api.opensuse.org. So an update is highly recommended. This release has a lot of fixes and new features, but also some argument changes compared to former releases. We decided to do these changes to have a more consistent UI and to avoid conflicts in the future. However, osc always tells you when you use a command in a no longer supported way and points you to the new command. Find a list of changes at the bottom of this mail. Main Features/Bugfixes ====================== osc request: osc now supports multiple kinds of requests (needs OBS version 1.7, api.opensuse.org will get upgraded soon). You can create requests with the following commands: * osc submitrequest (or just "osc sr") * osc submitrequest DESTPRJ [DESTPKG] * osc submitrequest SOURCEPRJ SOURCEPKG DESTPRJ [DESTPKG] * osc deleterequest PROJECT [PACKAGE] * osc changedevelrequest PROJECT PACKAGE DEVEL_PROJECT [DEVEL_PACKAGE] And there is one new command that deals with all kind of requets: * osc request list [-M] [PRJ [PKG]] * osc request log ID * osc request show [-d] [-b] ID * osc request accept [-m TEXT] ID * osc request decline [-m TEXT] ID * osc request revoke [-m TEXT] ID osc build: * Image building now uses the correct pool of packages * plain "osc build" command now picks a correct repository Package tracking has now been enabled by default. That means you can do all kind of local changes in a checked out project with multiple packages and submit them all together in one step. This includes adding new packages or deleting them. [opensuse-packaging] Automake/make: subdirs and compilation order

I have a project with these (simplified) Makefile.am's - src/Makefile.am: SUBDIRS = opengl lib_LTLIBRARIES = libguichan.la - src/opengl/Makefile.am: lib_LTLIBRARIES = libguichan_opengl.la But, to avoid problems with --as-needed, I added this to the src/opengl one: libguichan_opengl_la_LIBADD = $(GL_LIBS) ../libguichan.la The problem is that src/opengl is compiled before src, and so the compilation fails. I can't add a libguichan_opengl_la_DEPENDENCIES libguichan.la since they are different Makefiles. [opensuse-packaging] dropping tla, revisited

Dear fellow packagers, some time ago there was a discussion where i said that i'd love to drop tla (tom lord's arch, see http://www.gnu.org/software/gnu-arch/ ) - and somebody stepped up and said that it's the best package since sliced bread and it should never be dropped. So it stayed for a while. Well, that time has come again. The old tla package that is in factory is old and rotten, and i'm pretty sure that there's a host of security issues that are not discovered just because nobody uses it anymore. The newer tla package that i keep in my home: repo on OBS has some 64bit portability problems that need patching up, and i'm not really going to jump to fix them. Moreover, by now, with the raise of git and mercurial and bazaar and darcs and whatnot, nobody in their right mind would use arch anymore. So here's the deal. i will drop the following packages from Factory: tla tla-load-dirs tla-tools archway archzoom axp perl-Arch if any of you wants them, just say the word, i'll gladly move them to an appropriate place in OBS and hand the thing over. Hi, in case you wonder why your C++ package build started to fail with error: invalid conversion from 'const char*' to 'char*' It's because glibc-2.10 has been checked in which contains stricter prototypes for some functions. All that i do with firebird ever are some simple db apps on Delphi. I've tried to built actual firebird package, when an user from #opensuse.ru ask why packages in server:database too old, and not built for 11.1. That user also asks why suse have no php-firebird package. At all i dont know any linux apps using firebird, to ever test if server works fine. I've tested new packages only with isql. I made submitreq 11211 to server:database more than one week ago, but stll no review. It is submitreq to update firebird package to actual version and make it build it for 11.1 and Factory. [opensuse-packaging] Keeping two versions of a non-library package (gobby)

Hi, For a while now, we have a gobby request in GNOME:Factory that we don't know how to handle. Gobby is a collaborative text editor, and the protocol completely changed between gobby 0.4 and gobby 0.5. The thing is that we certainly don't want to remove gobby 0.4 since some people will still need it to work with some servers. But we still want to have gobby 0.5 since, well, it'll be used more and more. So what would be the right way to handle this?
