[opensuse-kernel] kabi change in patches.drivers/alsa-hda-reboot-notify in 11.2

Hi Takashi, patches.drivers/alsa-hda-reboot-notify changes the kabi signatures (compared to the 11.2 GA kernel) because it adds a member to struct hda_codec_ops. It changes lots of snd_hda_*() symbols and query_amp_caps(), I checked and none of the KMPs in the distro depends on these, not even alsa-driver-kmp from multimedia:audio:KMP. Thus, I think it should be safe to ignore this change, what do you think? Full list of the changed symbols is attached. rpm -qpl kernel-default-2.6.31.5-0.1.1.src.rpm shows: --- patches.addon.tar.bz2 patches.apparmor.tar.bz2 patches.arch.tar.bz2 patches.drivers.tar.bz2 patches.fixes.tar.bz2 patches.kabi.tar.bz2 patches.kernel.org.tar.bz2 patches.rpmify.tar.bz2 patches.rt.tar.bz2 patches.suse.tar.bz2 patches.trace.tar.bz2 patches.xen.tar.bz2 --- But when I extract or install this rpm (unrpm kernel-default-2.6.31.5-0.1.1.src.rpm) those patch files are not there. Why? [opensuse-kernel] Bootsplash in 11.2

Hello! When I use manually compiled vanilla kernel there is no bootsplash at startup or shutdown time. I know 11.2 uses splashy which should require no additional kernel patching, only fb support (I have that), but when looking into stock kernel configuration I can see some additional entries like "bootsplash" with following description: --- This option enables the Linux bootsplash screen. For more information on the bootsplash screen have a look at http://www.bootsplash.org/. --- Is this it? If it is, are there somewhere patches available for more recent kernels, those on bootsplash.org seems unmaintained. Hi, If you try installing package kernel-syms from Kernel:HEAD (or building against it) you receive an error message that package kernel-ec2-devel is missing. Please add package kernel-ec2 to the project or remove dependency from kernel-syms's spec file. spec file for kernel-ec2 has been already provided. This has been happened since days - so I think limitation period of 24 hours is kept... Thanks. [opensuse-kernel] kexec and Reading legacy_max_head failed

Hi, I messed up my boot yesterday, probably my fault, I was removing old kernels and shrunk my boot partition to give extra to swap but when my 11.2rc2 system refused to boot I spent the whole morning trying to restore the bootloader because my favourite tool kexec wouldn't work. Instead it output "Reading legacy_max_head failed" and kexec -e simply refused to boot anything. I googled the error message and came up with an old bug bnc#383210 and a patch by Bernhard Walle dating back to May last year. Is it possible that this patch is now preventing kexec from working? Another question is : where does the 2.6.31-10-desktop kernel come from? I can't seem to find it in any of my repositories. I also thought using 11.2 milestone 8, BUT the LVM bug do not allow these idea ...
