ATI driver does not show SuSE

Hi, following the instructions from here: <http://www.suse.de/~sndirsch/ati-installer-HOWTO.html> I downloaded the driver from ati.com. Actually I now have both 8.21.7 and 8.22.5 versions (x86_64) versions. Anyway, both of them, when invoked with --get-supported display only different versions of Ubuntu, Debian and Mandriva. Suse and RedHat are not displayed, so I can not pre-build rpms for SuSE. Can anyone confirm this, before I get over ati :), or my system (10.0 x86_64, apt-getted to the last) is confusing the installer for some reason. Cheers -- -- Svetoslav Milenov (Sunny)

compile problems for Nat'l Instruments software - help, anyone?

Hello all! I am new here (and pretty new to Linux, for that matter) and was referred here for some assistance. Recently I built an AMD Sempron machine for my lab and installed SuSE 10.0 x86_64. I want to install and run National Instruments software (LabVIEW, NIDAQmx) to control my DAQ PCI card. There is a problem, however, with the compiling of the NI-KAL kernel module, upon which the rest of the installation seems to depend. The "./configure" script that I need to run prior to my "make" checks for a file called /usr/src/linux/include/asm/asm_offsets.h and returns an "kernel not configured correctly" error. I do not seem to have this file and find no indication that my kernel (2.6.13-15.7) is even supposed to. Can anyone tell me what this means, or if it is even possible to make the file myself? jonathan

Problem with Mozilla 1.7.11

Hi, here is Mozilla (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686 (x86_64); en-US; rv:1.7.11) Gecko/20050729 Mnenhy/0.7.2.0) running on a Dual-Opteron Workstation with Suse 9.2 (Kernel 2.6.8-24.18-smp). I get my eMails with POP from the local Mailserver and everything is fine. But if I move Mails to another folder there are now Mails without Subject and Sender but a date from 01.01.1970. Broadcom Wireless Card / ndiswrapper - Suse 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I am trying to setup a wireless card on Suse 10.0 (x86_64) on a Acer laptop. Well, I found loads of links that tells what to do using ndiswrapper ... and executed all the steps mentioned, but no luck and could not bring up the interface. I badly need to get this card running. My card is an Broadcom BCM4318, Airforce one 54g. Steps I followed: 1. Download version 1.5 and 1.9 of ndiswrapper and the 64-bit drivers for Wireless card 2. make and make install of the ndiswrapper 3. depmod -a modprobe ndiswrapper -> This step initially failed .. this output something like "FATAL: Error inserting ndiswrapper (/lib/modules/2.6.13-15-default/misc/* ndiswrapper.ko*) invalid argument" Later when I rebooted my system .. could not see this message any longer .. and continued with the next steps after ensuring ndiswrapper was listed ... lsmod | grep ndiswrapper 5. ndiswrapper -i bcmwl5.inf and ndiswrapper -l (to list) -> went fine ... it said hardware and driver found ndiswrapper -m (to create a alias) 6. #dmsg output: loadndiswrapper failed (1792) 7. Configure wireless card using YaST .. this was cool and all went fine 8. rcnetwork restart -> here only my loopback interface and eth0 restarted could not see the wlan0 inferface. ifconfig showed details only about eth0 and lo. cpu affinity ?

[Installed gkrellm on a dual-core SuSE 10.0 system and noticed a background task bouncing back and forth between the CPUs. Aesthetically I would prefer for it to not bounce.] Is there a setting (or user tool) that will assign cpu affinity to a process ? mikus

strange latency at KDE start

Hello, I was too lazy to search the archive, so please excuse me if this was allready asked on the list. I've just build a double opteron machine and am testing various distributions. SuSE 10 installed well enough but there is one "problem" that I did not dee with any other distro (I've tried Gentoo and Kubuntu so far, as well as Mepis in 32 bit): after the initial boot, when the system starts loading KDE, the screen remains black for approximately 30 seconds, then KDE loads. My thought is that it has to do with starting X - but I don't understand where the problem is. My card is an Nvidia 6600 GT. Any idea, hint? problem with network initialization in SuSE 10???

Hi, Okay folks! Please help, this is driving me nuts. Apologies for the X-posting. I have a AMD64 machine (SuSE 10 64bit) connected to a switch. At boot time my PC tries to NFS mount 3 exported partitions from a SLES server attached to the same switch. The PC fails to mount any of the NFS shares at boot time. I suspect that there could be a couple of things broken, since if I insert a ping command at the end of the start) section of etc/init.d/network, my machine reports "no route to host". Leading me to think that the network really isn't up. So, I inserted a `sleep 20` prior to the ping command, the machine sits there, then reports "no route to host". Eventually, the network must come up, since if I then log in through KDM I can browse the web etc. But the only way I _ever_ get my NFS shares mounted is if I issue a `mount -vat nfs` command manually. Now I don't mind waiting for the network to come up, but shouldn't SuSE be waiting too? I.e. what's the point in trying to mount NFS shares if you don't have a working network? FYI we have several x86 machines and a single AMD64 (SuSE 9.3 64bit) that start up and NFS with the server with no problems. As always, any help much appreciated. Cheers, Jon.

I think that tv_in is included in Xorg 6.9, but tv_out still has to be put in separately.
