Hallo, ich habe mir einen neuen AMD64-Rechner gekauft mit einem Gigabyte-Motherboard. Die Suse 64er-Version (9.2.) läuft zwar generell aber mit großen Einschränkungen. - Mein Board wird nicht unterstützt und damit fällt auch die Netzwerkkarte aus. - Meine Grafikkarte ATI Radeon 9200 mag Suse auch nicht. Könnte jemand einem absoluten Linux-Neuling weiterhelfen? Vielen Dank im Voraus Jürgen

Yast2 online update differs from command line online_update?

Hello, I was checking command line online_update tool and I have found that list of proposed updates is different from list proposed by yast2. Using online_update -dsV |grep "^I" I have got pretty long (~50lines) list of installable patches, including several on security level, for example: I iptables (Security): IP Paketfilter-Administration However, when I use Yast2 and online update tool there, after last update I see only four optional patches (wireless drivers). For example, for iptables I see version 1.2.11-4.2 and I'm not able to find version 1.2.11-4.3 proposed by online_update tool. On the other hand, command line online_update propose also to install fetchmsttfonts.sh (Optional): Download Microsoft(r) TrueType Core Fonts which I just installed using yast2! I'm using Suse 9.2 (x86_64), updated from 9.1 using ftp edition. Both tools are using the same ftp server, online_update reports: Types of patches to be installed: security recommended patchlevel Server URL: ftp://mirrors.mathematik.uni-bielefeld.de//pub/linux/suse/suse Server Name: User-Defined Location Directory File: Path 0: ./i386/update/9.2/patches Any idea? -- Mirek Ruda

red-carpet and 64 bit SuSE

Does anybody have any working Red-Carpet update sites for 64-bit SuSe 9.2? I have the Standard ones from Open-carpet and Ximian and nothing is updated except for red-carpet itself. I tried doing a Google Search and came up empty BoB C

ACPI and ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe

Hi, I have got 9.2 running on a ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe board. Everything works fine but /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THRM/temperature reports ALWAYS: temperature: 40 C My hardware vendor says that cannot be correct. Is there a way to get the correct value? Do other owners of that board also see this behaviour? Thanks, Torsten

Did your installation automatically configure this, did you have to manually load the thermal module, or have I just missed a section in Yast? I'll investigate the thermal_zone over the weekend and report back. I notice that CPU throttling works nicely, so I'd be amazed if the temperature really is a constant 40 C. Problem with Obex over Bluetooth

I have installed a 32bit and a 64bit (AMD) Version of SuSE 9.2 on different machines. On both I have a working bluetooth connection. But if I send calendar entries as .vcs file to the 32bit machine a dialog pops up on KDE and asks me where to save the .vcs file. On the 64bit machine I don't get this dialog, although the sending devices tells me the file has been transferred. My problem is, that I can't find the file on the 64bit system. Where has it gone?
