Good morning, My name is Antonette. I am interested in joining your group. I have experience in web development, and have been (on and off) for about 4 years now. I normally alternate between different distros, like Fedora, Ubuntu, Gentoo, and etc. However, I have decided to make openSUSE my default distro. https://en.opensuse.org/HCL:Video last edit date 6.5 years ago virtually everything on that page is obsolete video driver names except for one have all been changed years ago automagic works for most people not using Optimus for anyone not already familiar with openSUSE and is shopping for a distro, seeing this page would be a very bad omen It needs to be either retired (my vote), or rewritten from scratch (I don't think it's relevant any more). I've never had a laptop, so never have used pm-utils. I went looking for its replacement in order to answer a forum post: https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/534341-YaST-partial-install-and-… I looked at https://doc.opensuse.org/documentation/leap/reference/html/book.opensuse.re… but it doesn't make it clear to me how $SUBJECT ought to be updated to provide a proper pointer to whatever should take its place. [opensuse-web] Static site generation for software.o.o and www.o.o

Hi, we (software.o.o maintainers) want to switch to a static site generation approach for the static parts of software.opensuse.org (distribution download pages). LCP also wants to migrate www.opensuse.org and news.opensuse.org to a static site generator, now we are looking for the right software. We have came up with two possible generators: Hugo[0] and Jekyll[1]. Before we decide which one to use, I would like to ask about experiences with either one. As far as I know kubic.o.o, openbuildservice.org and obs-patterns.netlify.com use Jekyll. Are there any issues or things that should be known before starting a project with it? Is there anyone using Hugo who could provide an answer to the same question? If there is only Jekyll in use inside the project, I think we should stick to it when we migrate the aforementioned sites. Felix, Looking at your screenshot it seems to me that your code was missing at least one space before "04:00.VGA...". As far as I know it's standard feature of wikimedia software to create preformated code when there are spaces before text. It mentions only 42.3. Thus: 1-it needs update to 15.0 (64bit only) 2-it needs to address Tumbleweed (32bit and 64bit) I can't do #2 because I can't find official hardware requirements anywhere. The 32bit release package names imply Intel 586 CPU support. Most packages are labeled i586. However, http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1032165 seems to say sse2 is required, thus making all i586 CPUs and many i686 unsupported. How about coming up with some statements that focus more on telling the reader what TW and Leap are useful for rather than describing what they are? The TW description already goes in that direction but the one for Leap is rather useless. In the past day or two I saw IIRC somewhere on opensuse.org that as of 15.0 there are no working fglrx drivers. Is my memory wrong? Did I misinterpret? I seen no mention on https://doc.opensuse.org/release-notes/x86_64/openSUSE/Leap/15.0/ that this is the case, but if true, it needs amending, as does https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:AMD_fglrx which was last updated over a year ago. So does https://en.opensuse.org/AMD last updated in October. Neither make any mention of the modesetting driver that upstream has long been working to eventually make the default for all AMD, Intel and NVidia gfxchips. -- "Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Hello everyone, for a relaunch of my webseite I have been looking for some openSUSE-Logos to spice up the apprearance a bit. I noticed the following: On https://de.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Markenzeichen The Download Links don't seem to be working. As an example: Farb-Version des kompletten Logos -> points to https://gitorious.org/opensuse/art/blobs/master/00assets/logo/official-logo… which results in a 404 error. I am happy to work on this but would need to know where these files are now. Hi, a thread came up on Reddit about the slow performance of some openSUSE sites, especially the software search page: reddit.com/r/openSUSE/comments/8vpwi0/pingdom_test_opensuse_official_sites_… It takes a good 10 seconds load the initial search page, and then searches for packages often take several minutes to complete. I also often run into a "504 gateway" error. It feels like something more than just a visual refresh happened when the software search page was updated. Before, the old software search page was usually pretty snappy. But as soon as the visual design was changed, it got extremely sluggish. So I wonder if there was some kind of architectural change too that needs to be optimized. [opensuse-web] Request: Allow to upload compressed files to the wiki

Hi. I want to upload the translation team glossary in XLIFF format to the Spanish wiki so it can be uploaded later to Weblate or downloaded for local use. The problem is that "xlf" is not one of the allowed extensions, and you can't upload compressed files either. Would it be possible to allow archives upload? Note: the wiki is smart enough to recognize the file format, so tricks like changing the file extension doesn't work (and that's good anyway). [opensuse-web] Access as sysop to the French wiki

Hi all, For those who don't know me, I am sogal, member of the openSUSE french community. I was at the openSUSE Conference this week-end and more specifically at the Wiki work-shop with Doug. We fixed some issues in the official (en.opensuse.org) wiki. Now it's time for me to update the french (fr.opensuse.org) wiki for Leap 15.0 and fix some issues (mainly hard link to version pages instead of using redirections). I would like to clean up the french wiki also whenever I find mistmakes or out-dated stuff. For that purpose I would need the sysop role that I currently don't have. Hi! The new theme on en.opensuse.org looks really great! Kudos to Guo Yunhe on his great work. There seems to be a problem, however: lines don't wrap any more and simply get cut off where the text width ends.
