can't umount device after the I/O error

i use the packet-cd 0.0.2o-pre1 + kernel 2.4.7 , when i copy the file , the system show I/O error : dev 0b:00, sector 601748 pktcdvd: pktcdvd0: read failure pktcdvd: pktcdvd0: WRITE error sector 601748 . . so i want to change the disc , but i can't umount the device , the system freeze , is this a bug ? thanks

Hi, I needed some information regarding the Packet (Incremental) writing technology. We plan to develop Packet writing software on Windows platform but we found that there is a patent on "Compact disc recording system and method" where in an improved file system and method for incrementally recording data on compact discs is disclosed. Do you have any idea regarding this patent and if yes, what does it mean for developers wanting to develop packet writing software ? We also found that there are lots of CD Writing software which support the Packet Writing feature on Windows platform. Could you please share your ideas on whether we can go ahead and develop the Packet writing feature ? Thanks in advance. Thanks, Ranjit

Hi everybody! I just want to ask one thing: In the documentation I've seen that currently the patch is working only with CDRW and that only in the future will be possible to use packet writing on a CDR. Why? I mean, which are the differences beetween a CDR and a CDRW that make only CDRW usable for packet writing by now? Using ide-scsi without reboot

I have an IDE CD-RW which I use with the ide-scsi stuff. Now given that the ide-scsi only picks up the device when it is stated so in the line of kernel parameters. Now supposing that I have ide-scsi compiled as a module, but want to test out packet-cd on the ide interface. How can I make the kernel allow the ide driver to control the device without having to tweak lilo.confm run lilo, and reboot? Thanks. --John
