Hi, I wonder if it is possible to create a multisession cdrw with a bootable iso9660 filesystem and a second session with a read/write udf filesystem. -- Massimo Dal Zotto +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Massimo Dal Zotto email: dz@cs.unitn.it | | Via Marconi, 141 phone: ++39-0461534251 | | 38057 Pergine Valsugana (TN) www: http://www.cs.unitn.it/~dz/ | | Italy pgp: see my www home page | +----------------------------------------------------------------------+

It is possible by the CD-ROM standard, but AFAICS the current drivers don't support it. The problem is that the floppy image for booting needs to be in the first track, which is also used by the pktcdvd driver. I can think of two solutions to this: - patch pktsetup, the kernel driver as well as cdrwtool and/or mkudf to support a mountable track >1. This might be useful for other purposes as well. - write a tool that makes an UDF file system bootable with an El torito floppy image. You could still have read-only data (e.g. /usr) in a second iso9660 track, but I'm not sure if this approach breaks something more important and it might not be a good idea therefore. Arnd <><
