I was about to update my kernel to the new stable 2.6.0, but notice Jens has added some changes since test11. Is there any reason to suppost the test11 patch wouldn't work? hi: i recently set packet writing ok under my 2.4.23 kernel, thnx for ur help. however, now i'd like to know if someone has succesfully patched and used patch 2.6.0 test 11, because i read somewhere it had a problem. Does it work? should i patch, configure and install just like i did on my 2.4.23 kernel? thanks again -- Eduardo J. I added packet patch and configured kernel with packet-cdrw option as "y" to ad pktcdvd.o to kernel. When I boot and do lsmod pktcdvd is NOT listed. After I run pktsetup /dev/pktcdvd0 /dev/sr1 and then lsmod pktcdvd is listed. Is it now in the kernel twice???? mike --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! instructions for udf on 2.4.23

hi folks: i'm just trying to make udf work on my 2.4.23 linux box. However, i've only found instructions and patches for kernel v2.4.0 test 10 (http://packet-cd.sourceforge.net/download.php3). cant mount /dev/pktcdvd0

I am able to pktsetup /dev/pktcdvd0 /dev/sr1 with no error. I can mount /dev/sr1 /udf -t udf but will not mount rw, only ro. When I try to mount /dev/pktcdvd0 /udf -t usb I get error: cant read superblock. What is going on???? mike --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! error with usb atapi cdrw

Hi, I'm unable to write data to udf formatted cd-rw with my cdrecorder when it is in my usb atapi case, otherwise it works for me when attached on the mother board. I can format it with cdrwtool or write data with cdrecord. Is this configuration supported or it's impossible to get it works via usb? My cdrecord is a LG model CD-RW CED-8080B Rev:1.06 My kernel is a 2.4.23 (Gentoo1.4+) with the last patch for pktcdvd, (the log says v0.0.2p) and UDF-fs version 0.9.8-cvs (2003/10/01) In attach the log from kern.log

UDF and kernel 2.6test11

Hi I'm a bit unclear on how to get UDF/packet writing working on kernel 2.6 test11. Do I need a patch? (It seems the patches are only for 2.4.xx and up until 2.6 test7) I have a IDE cdrw device, and I have compiled my kernel w. UDF and SCSI support. (do I need to run the scsi emulation for my cdrw device?) I can format a UDF disc with 'cdrwtool -d /dev/cdroms/cdrom1 -q', mount it as read-only and browse it ('lost+found' dir can be seen) but when I run 'mknod /dev/pktcdvd0 b 97 0' and 'pktsetup /dev/pktcdvd0 /dev/cdroms/cdrom1' I get "open packet device: No such device or address" even though I can verify that both the link to the cdrw and pktcdvd0 block device exists. I tried applying the latest patch available for vanilla kernel 2.4.23 but I got this: [root@compaq linux-2.4.23]# patch -p1</home/alimin/Desktop/patch-2.4.23 patching file CREDITS Reversed (or previously applied) patch detected! Assume -R? [n] What am I supposed to do here? Alimin

trouble writing to cdrw

I have 2 problems I would like help with. I have an external usb cdrw on a ppc powerbook using debian woody. I have patched kernel 2.4.21. Configured new. Installed udftools. I have 3 udf disks. One written on on win 98 with prasi abCD. Second written on win xp pro with nero 5. The third is "blank". pktsetup /dev/cdvd0 /dev/sr1 seems to work. pktcdvd.o is installed. The abCD and nero 5 I am able to mount -t udf /dev/sr1 /usb-udf -o rw noatime but they will only mount read-only. I am able to ls -l /usb-udf abCD and nero 5 disk and see data.If I mount -t udf /dev/pktcdvd0 /usb-udf I get error: cant read superblock. On the abCD I am able to cdrwtool -d /dev/sr1 -i and get disk and track info ( no version info). On the nero 5 only an error message. To the "blank" disk I was able to cdrwtool -d /dev/sr1 -b full -t 10x with a red lite on the drive and without errors . But cdrwtool -d /dev/sr1 -q -t 10x gives me error: wait_cmd: I/O error command failed: 51 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 24 00 00 00 00 - sense 00.00.00 read disk info: Illegal seek I get the above error when I use cdrwtool with -i on the nero 5 and the "blank" and -q on the blank. Even after the error free -b full format of blank. 1-- I cant mount rw. Therefore I cant write to a disk. Why????? 2-- I cant determine that I have formated a disk to write.
