Hi! I had a lot of problem with packet writing but I got to solve a lot of
them. Unfortunately I have now one that I can't solve yet.
I have a Slackware 10.1 and I use a vanilla kernel compiled by myself 2.6.13.2
When I gave the command
pktsetup pktcdvd0 /dev/hdc
I received the following error
"ctl open: Not a directory"
I tried to use the following rules in 10-udev.rules but I don't get any
results.
KERNEL=="pktcdvd", NAME="pktcdvd/control", GROUP="users", MODE="0660"
KERNEL=="pktcdvd[0-9]*", NAME="pktcdvd/pktcdvd%n", GROUP="users", MODE="0660"
So I solved the problem putting the following lines in /etc/rc.d/rc.local
rm /dev/pktcdvd
mkdir /dev/pktcdvd
Now there are no problems with "pktsetup pktcdvd0 /dev/hdc" (I'm writing this
if I had committed some mistakes in this way)
Unfortunately now I can't mount any cd-rw formatted with "cdrwtool -d /dev/hdc
-q".
With "mount -t udf -o rw,noatime /dev/pktcdvd/pktcdvd /mnt/udf/"
I have
"mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/pktcdvd/ciao,
missing codepage or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so"
Instead I can mount a cd-rw formatted with InCd for Windows but then, if I
want copy a file on the cd the led of dvd-writer starts and not stop to be on
(I've waited for an hour!!!). The device results to be always busy and so I
can't umount the device. when I use the reset button (the computer doesn't
shutdown normally) and I reboot the system there aren't on the cd the files
I've tried to copy.
I have a similar situation with a dvd+rw. I can format it with the dvdtools
and I can mount the device but when I try to copy a file on it the led of the
dvdwriter starts to be always on. I can't umount the device but when I
shutdown the computer (with the dvd it shutdowns normally) and i rebbot it I
can see on the disc the files I've copied on it.
Sorry for my long e-mail. I hope anyone can help me since I would need the
packet writing.
Bye
Francesco
