Hi, I would love to see a change in the guidelines, here: https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Packaging_guidelines#Users_and_Groups It is mentioned to create a file named '%{name}-user.conf' I would propose to name it '%{name}.sysusers' or '%{name}.sysusersd' It is more close and following the scheme we already use with: - %{name}.firewalld - %{name}.logrotate - %{name}.sysconfig - %{name}.service - %{name}.tmpfilesd What do you think ? Home for Joker

Hi folks, I'm looking for a more official home for Joker[1], a small Clojure interpreter, linter and formatter written in Go. I think a good fit would be some devel:languages:… project. But which one? Clojure, since it's a Clojure implementation? Or Go, since it is written in Go. Something else? And how is the process looking like? Packaging Jetporch: Where to submit to?

Hi all, there is a new kid on the block. Michael deHaan, the creator of Ansible, has created a new project called Jetporch. Written in Rust and a lot faster than Ansible. At least that is the claim. https://github.com/jetporch/jetporch "Jetporch (aka Jet) is a general-purpose, community-driven IT automation platform for configuration management, deployment, orchestration, patching, and arbitrary task execution workflows." I am preparing a package for this, as I am eager to test it. Building a "statically compiled tcpdump" for ksniff

Hi all, I wanted to package ksniff aka kubectl-sniff (https://github.com/eldadru/ksniff) for openSUSE. It allows sniffing the network traffic inside a Kubernetes pod and forwards it to a local wireshark instance. Very helpful sometimes. Anyways, to work properly it needs a "static tcpdump binary" that it can inject into the pod. I wanted to build it inside the knsiff package. Need help fixing go build for kubeconform

Hi, I maintain kubeconform on OBS [1] and the build started failing last week. I assume this happened due to changes in golang 1.21 . > /usr/lib64/go/1.21/src/cmd/vendor/github.com/google/pprof/internal/driv er/webhtml.go:26:12: pattern html: no matching files found I filed an issue upstream [2] a week ago but had no response. If anyone has an idea how to fix it please let me know, I don't have any leads right now. strawberry symbol lookup error

freeimage maintainership up from grab

Hi packagers and contributors. I was made aware of an issue around the package freeimage https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/openSUSE:Factory/freeimage which has the devel project set to https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/graphics/freeimage Unfortunately, we have no set package maintainer/bugowner on this package and even looking into the changes file it seems close to impossible to identify anybody really caring for this. Is there anybody that feels responsible for this package? Proposal: amend the packaging guidelines for %fillup_only

Hi list, our packaging guidelines for %fillup_only [1] currently do not suggest anything for the %files section for the files generated in `/etc/sysconfig/`. I would like to suggest that we start adding the newly generated file `/etc/sysconfig/$pkgname` as follows to the %files section: --8<---------------cut here---------------start------------->8--- %files %ghost %config(noreplace) %attr(0600,root,root) /etc/sysconfig/%{name} %dir /etc/sysconfig --8<---------------cut here---------------end--------------->8--- This ensures that rpm is aware of the files as configuration files. Thoughts, opinions? I'm packaging a module for xrdp that allows it to work with pipewire: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:jacraig:xrdp/pipewire-module-x… Any suggestions would be helpful. A specific question I have is I don't understand the documentation for %suse_update_desktop_file; am I doing this right? Also there is a warning for an unstripped binary (the .so file), saying "this is normally done by RPM at build time". Why isn't it being done? And am I right that I don't worry about a SONAME because it is a plugin? thanks /Jason Craig

Opensuse15.5: unresolvable: nothing provides python311-cffi, nothing provides python311-cryptography

All, The python packaging guidelines call for getting opensuse 15.5 packages to build with python 3.11 I've got roughly 50 packages that use python in security:forensics. Most using the 15.5 repo now build a python311 RPM. But a couple are complaining because python311-cffi.and python311-cryptography packages aren't available in devel:languages:python or devel:languages:python:pytest Can someone take a look and fix those to packages to follow the packaging guidelines?
