[opensuse-packaging] New macro to limit resources allocation per thread

Hello all, For use in libreoffice, chromium and others I've created macro that should allow you to limit jobs based on some constraints you can set later on in the spec to avoid OOM crashes. The usage is pretty straight forward (Once it is accepted in Tumbleweed): === BuildRequires: memory-constraints %build # require 2GB mem per thread %limit_build -m 2000 make %{?_smp_mflags} ==== Here the _smp_mflags vaule for 8GB machine would be 4 while default is number of cores (lets say 16)... Both macros %jobs and %_smp_mflags are overriden as such the integration should be really painless if you need to do something like this. Tom

[opensuse-packaging] how to make xfce4-screensaver smoothly replace xscreensaver?

Hello, I need to ask for some package transition advise please. We are going to introduce xfce4-screensaver by default in openSUSE Xfce replacing xscreensaver. Swapping the packages in the pattern is the easy part however because xscreensaver is not automatically being replaced and both daemons end up running at the same time, when suspending the system, both xfce4-screensaver and xscreensaver lockers are loaded on the screen. Any advise on how to make the transition happen without using "Conflicts"? [opensuse-packaging] Problem with packaging gettext

Hi, Im trying to package the 0.20.1 version of gettext. my current attempt can be viewed here: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:cvoegl:branches:Base:System/ge… This package consists of 4 specfiles: gettext-runtime.spec, gettext-runtime-mini.spec (autogenerated from gettext-runtime.spec) , gettext-java.spec and gettext-csharp.spec In version 0.20.1 the libtextstyle was added, which should be packaged in its own rpm. Therefore I added the libtextstyle0 and libtextstyle0-devel packages to gettext-runtime.spec (and consequently to gettext-runtime-mini.spec). I'm able to build gettext-runtime.spec, gettext-runtime-mini.spec and gettext-csharp.spec. [opensuse-packaging] How to include KDE3 repo for Yast2-control-center-qt3 patch development?

All, I have patched yast2-control-center-qt3 and I'm trying to build and confirm the fix for: https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1136295 I am attempting to build in my buildservice project: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:drankinatty/yast2-control-cent… However, every time it gives an "unresolveable" error "nothing provides qt3-devel" which is located at: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE3/openSUSE_Leap_15.1/x86_… How do I tell buildservice to look in: repositories/KDE:/KDE3/openSUSE_Leap_15.1/x86_64 ?? I have built packages in the past that use the KDE:/KDE3 repo without issue. Now for some reason I can't get it to find the repo (or I'm just not smart enough to tell it how to do it) What's the fix? Has buildservice not been updated yet to look at all the 15.1 repos? -- David C.
