Hi, listmates, I found that there's no more xulrunner-devel package inside openSUSE:Factory. but it's still releasing: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/xulrunner/releases/latest/source/ So what happened to it? [opensuse-packaging] Multiple packages from a tarball: single spec or multiple spec files?

Hi, currently alsa-tools-gui.rpm contains various programs using different toolkits, gtk2, gtk3, and fltk. I'm thinking of splitting this big one into individual packages for each program. The question is whether they should be built from a single spec file as of now, or they should be built from the own spec files. A merit of the latter would be that each spec can reduce the dependency; one spec file has only one BuildRequires for a toolkit. OTOH, it means that there will need multiple build instances, of course. Are such multiple spec files good or bad for build service in general? [opensuse-packaging] A trick on the WebUI I just learned

All, I've been using OBS for a couple years. I maintain numerous packages and in one case I have about 50 packages that form a dependency tree (no cycles, just a tree). One of the frustrations I've had not having an easy way to know if the top packages "Requires:" statements are met without actually installing it. I find that hard because on my development PC I may have the dependencies installed but that doesn't mean they are in OBS for other users. I just realized I can tell at least some extent by looking at the WebUI. In particular my last "mistake" related to plaso which I submitted to factory without having all the dependencies in factory first. I just created a dedicated sub-project in my home project for plaso (python-plaso). The plaso package is at: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:gregfreemyer:libyal-plaso/pyth… If I click on openSUSE_Factory in the build results area I can see the factory RPMs for plaso. I already knew that: https://build.opensuse.org/package/binaries/home:gregfreemyer:libyal-plaso/… If I then click on one of the noarch RPMs, I can see the provides and requires columns. I even knew that. https://build.opensuse.org/package/binary/home:gregfreemyer:libyal-plaso/py… What I didn't know is that if I do the same thing in the devel project (security this time), then the requires columns that have a blank in the "provided by" column mean factory can't provide the required package: https://build.opensuse.org/package/binary/security/python-plaso?arch=x86_64… I submitted all 6 of the missing dependencies to factory a few hours ago, so if there are no blanks in the provided by column you know my SRs got accepted! Hi, The util-linux package underwent a major split (including a version update) and I expect a day or two to pass before the situation settled especially as the build service will get a lot of load. This can result in suprising failures about "missing binaries" or unresolvable. Bear with me and just trigger rebuilds of such failures. All, I had a package (python-dfVFS) that rpmlint is complaining about. I can get the error to go away via these 2 lines in the %files section of the specfile. %defattr(755,root,root) %{python_sitelib}/dfvfs I'm told 755 is likely wrong for anything in python_sitelib. My rpmlint errors without the 755 statement are similar to: [ 29s] python-dfVFS.noarch: W: non-executable-script /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/dfvfs/vfs/tar_file_system_test.py 0644L /usr/bin/python [ 29s] python-dfVFS.noarch: W: non-executable-script /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/dfvfs/file_io/fake_file_io_test.py 0644L /usr/bin/python [ 29s] python-dfVFS.noarch: W: non-executable-script /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/dfvfs/helpers/source_scanner_test.py 0644L /usr/bin/python The files seem to start with: #!/usr/bin/python # -*- coding: utf-8 -*- . . . There are hundreds of the files. Should I run a sed script to trash "#!/usr/bin/python" in all the files. There are over 150 of them. [opensuse-packaging] Need help with Tilda package.

Hi. I'm trying to update the package Tilda to the latest stable, but the current patches doesn't match with the current code, so I don't know if they still apply. There're four patches currently plus one I've added to fix rpmlint errors (thanks to the Tilda developer). The problematic patches (for me) are two: - https://build.opensuse.org/package/view_file/GNOME:Apps/tilda/tilda-fix-poi… - https://build.opensuse.org/package/view_file/GNOME:Apps/tilda/tilda-fix-gdk… The second one comments a line, so I suppose it is the same now even though it's a little different. With the first one I don't have a clue on what to do. It fixes a 64bit portability issue, but I don't know C/GTK, so I can't see if the current code takes care of this or if it is still necessary to patch the file. Could someone help me, please? [opensuse-packaging] Can I submit a package downgrade request?

Hi. Recently I sent a submit request with an updated version of Parcellite, a clipboard manager for LXDE. This version had some bugs and I updated to the latest svn revision that fixes most of them. But one remains an is very annoying: text selection is broken, you cannot select text in some programs because the selection is cleared immediately. I submitted a bug report upstream but the developer cannot reproduce the problem and so he cannot fix it. We're still in contact but I read that the package freeze will be soon and I don't like the idea of shipping a broken version of the program. So, can I submit the previous version of the program that worked fine? Hi, As the subject says I need extra pair of eyes to figure out the failure of sbcl packet building for factory. The package can be found in devel:languages:misc sbcl. The package builds for all openSUSE releases except for Factory and it fails in the sb-bsd-socket tests. In my local builds if the build environmet is chroot then the tests pass and the package is build. So it must be something in the kvm implementation of Factory because it fails only in kvm type builds. I can't seem to find where the problem lies hence I need some extra pair of eyes. Hi. If I use something like %files A-path/a-file it works fine, but if I use %files A-path/%{source0} I get Error: File not found Is it that %{sourceX} is not allowed in the %file section? Other macros, %{name} for example, work fine. SourceX is defined in the beginning of the file an it is an icon I've uploaded, but it happens the same if it is another kind of file. [opensuse-packaging] How to do a %post action, like calling yast firewall configuration?

Hi, I want to add a firewall rule for SSH on a package installation. This is currently done in %post section. But on OpenSUSE I get `/sys filesystem is not mounted' error. The package has this build issue but on target host it installs correctly. ========= SNIP ========= %post %if 0%{?suse_version} >= 1110 yast2 firewall services add service=service:sshd zone=EXT %else yast2 firewall services add service=ssh zone=EXT %endif ========= SNIP ========= ========= BUILD LOG SNIP ========= The /sys filesystem is not mounted. If you are running in a chroot environment, bind-mount missing filesystems. ========= BUILD LOG SNIP ========= This is an internal TESTING package so managing firewall is OK even if otherwise it would not be appropriate. Is there way how to do this "correct and clean" way? Hi, We don't have an official roadmap for 13.2, but the experimental roadmap I made has a Beta1 release on September 18th. This means by September 15th everything has to be gone through staging projects - and the bigger the changes you plan, the earlier you should submit it (yes, I look at you artwork guys :). Hi all, The openSUSE Board was recently made aware of a case where a package description, spec file and OBS description, contained a request for donation to a given account. We feel very strongly that this violates the spirit of our guiding principals. Therefore we ask all project maintainers to not accept packages that may contain requests for donations into top level devel projects We're making sure the Packaging Guidelines on the wiki get updated to reflect this policy. Hopefully everyone supports this decision, if not I'm happy to discuss things here, alternatively this seems like a good opportunity to remind everyone that the openSUSE Board can be contacted privately at board(a)opensuse.org Thank you for your consideration.
