[opensuse-packaging] rpmlint warning "suse-branding-unversioned-requires"

Hi, I am in the process of creating branding package for awesome, and started with creating awesome-branding-upstream subpackage. When the package for awesome is build there is this warning but I have no idea what it means or how to correct it. The main package does have the requirement Requires: %{name}-branding = %{version} and the whole spec can be found at home:toganm:branches:X11:windowmanagers awesome <https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=awesome&project=home%3Atoga…> Here is the rpmlint warning awesome.x86_64: W: suse-branding-unversioned-requires awesome-branding awesome-branding-upstream.noarch: W: suse-branding-unversioned-requires config(awesome-branding-upstream) Please make sure that your requires entry reads like 'Requires: %name-branding = <versionnumber>'. [opensuse-packaging] Handling package renames involving %lang_package

Currently there seems to be no good way of handling package renames for packages that make use of %lang_package, in response to a sr (#146544) Lars suggested either Providing/Obsoleting the lang package in the main package or expanding %lang_package in the specfile and adding the Providing/Obsoleting. The former looks (at least semantically) incorrect to me since the main package does not really provide the contents of the new -lang package and the latter is problematic for the maintenace of the package since future changes/fixes to the %lang_package macro are not propagated automatically any more. [opensuse-packaging] postgresql-server depends on postgresql itself

I just noticed server:databases postgresqlXX has a dependency on postgresql = XX. This creates a circular dependency that makes bootstrapping... complicated. The offending line is: Requires(pre): postgresql = %version in postgresqlXX-full.spec.in, which uses the pseudopackage postgresql to require a specific version of PG. Now, this also has the drawback of making it hard (I imagine, I didn't try) to install several versions of PG in the same system. Now, replace that by: Requires(pre): %pgname = %version And OBS no longer chokes while bootstrapping (direct dependency against postgresqlXX). And I imagine it will become possible to install more than one version in tandem. [opensuse-packaging] OBS project cleanup candidates

Hi folks, during our never-ending quest in cleaning up OBS projects, I encountered some projects which could easily be merged: network:messaging (1 pkg) network:messaging:amqp (5 pkg) and Apache Apache:Modules Apache:MirrorBrain I'm sure there are other worthy candidates. IMO it's not worth keeping projects around which either belong together or contain less than 10 packages. Also, maintainers come and go (such as repositories to build against) and updating the meta-data for all those projects is tedious, if it happens at all. Please trigger rebuild for python3-scipy and python3-matplotlib packages, there was a problem with python3-numpy and fix already submited to Factory. [opensuse-packaging] Need help with creating branding packages

Hi, Since there is no documentation regarding creating branding packages, this has been a painful experience :( By reading other branding packages I eventualy created a package however looks like I hit a bug in the branding check of rpmlint. Here is what I get " RPMLINT report: =============== awesome-branding-openSUSE.noarch: W: unexpanded-macro Provides awesome-branding = %{version} %{version} This package contains a file whose path contains something that looks like an unexpanded macro; this is often the sign of a misspelling. Please check your specfile. " but I have "Provides: awesome-branding = %{version}" . If I remove the %version from the provides line I do not see this warning but it seems logical to have the %version. Is this a bug that I can live with or am I missing something.
