[opensuse-packaging] Coping with the recent Boost update

Boost 1.46.0 was checked into factory not long ago (and will get an update to 1.46.1 in the next days). The main change that wasn't mentioned in the changes and thus escaped me was that beginning with 1.46.0 boost::filesystem will switch its default API from v2 to v3 (see http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_46_1/libs/filesystem/v3/doc/index.htm). This will cause packages that use boost::filesystem and that don't support v3 to fail. There are three possible ways to fix the breakage: 1) Adapt the code to work with v3 2) Adapt the code to work with v2 or v3 3) Let the code use the v2 API. The last one is the easiest but the v2 API will go with 1.48. The changes in the API are described in http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_46_1/libs/filesystem/v3/doc/deprecated.html. Apologies if this is the wrong list. In that case, if someone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it. [opensuse-packaging] upstream source contains .gif files.

My upstream source contains .gif files that are not essential. If I delete these file and never use them, can I use this tarball as my pristine source, or must I resource? Thank You. Hello Mates, atm i'm updating the Packages in medical. In one case a have a lot of messages like: freediams.x86_64: W: script-without-shebang /usr/share/freediams/doc/freediams/en/html/_export/xhtml/en/manuals/freediams/install_usb.xhtml To solve that i've tried: for all in %{buildroot}%{_datadir}/%{name}/doc/%{name} `find -type f`; do chmod -x $all done But now i'm got: + for all in /usr/src/packages/BUILDROOT/freediams-0.5.4-1.x86_64/usr/share/freediams/doc/freediams '`find -type f`' + chmod -x ./doc/api-Doxyfile + for all in /usr/src/packages/BUILDROOT/freediams-0.5.4-1.x86_64/usr/share/freediams/doc/freediams '`find -type f`' + chmod -x ./doc/usermanuals chmod: cannot access `./doc/usermanuals': No such file or directory Does anyone know why it searches explicit doc/usermanuals if they aren't present? Dear all, I'm currently packaging the latest version (0.9) of the Faenza icon theme for GNOME, one of the nicest in my opinion, though a bit squarish. The main goal is to provide this icon theme for GNOME:Ayatana project since it features all the required icons for the new functions in the Ubuntu/Ayatana indicators (specially on monochrome icons). For those wondering, yes, this is one of the few 3rd party icon themes that provides nearly all icons for a default openSUSE GNOME installation (except for YaST). This icon theme provides icons for many distributions (Fedora, Mandriva, Frugalware, Debian, openSUSE, Ubuntu, GNOME, etc). I'm currently deleting all of those icons except for openSUSE and GNOME and would like to make two branding packages (one for GNOME/upstream, and another for openSUSE). Anyone could point me some online documentation or icon themes example packages where I can see a bit more about this 'branding packages' ? Hi, I'm trying to update alienarena to 7.51 [1] and I'm having some issues building on openSUSE 11.2 (and SLE 11) This version requires autoconf >= 2.65. openSUSE:11.2/standard has 2.63. devel:tools:building/openSUSE_11.2 has 2.65 and 2.68. After some Googling [2] I've done a "osc meta proj -e" and added devel:tools:building/openSUSE_11.2 for openSUSE_11.2 and it builds OK, but is this the proper way of solving this? [opensuse-packaging] Packaging wicd for 11.4, dbus security issue

Wicd has some issues on 11.4 due to the upgrade to Python 2.7, and as such I'm trying to package up the latest tip of their bazaar tree on Launchpad. wicd.x86_64: E: suse-dbus-unauthorized-service (Badness: 10000) /etc/dbus-1/system.d/wicd.conf The package installs a DBUS system service file. If the package is intended for inclusion in any SUSE product please open a bug report to request review of the service by the security team. What confuses me about this is that wicd was already packaged at one point for 11.3, so I don't understand why I'm getting this badness now. Aside from that, I can open a bug report with the SUSE security team, but is there anything I can do on `osc build` to side-step that check and get a testable package in a repo on build.opensuse.org? - R. Hi, I bet most of you follow the gcc news as first thing in the morning, but for those that don't: gcc 4.6 is in release mode, so it won't be long before it's released. A prerelease is already in factory as gcc46, but won't be default before our packages are ready to support it. To prepare for this, Dr.Richard and me prepared a project with the currently failing packages. Short version: http://is.gd/wJxCY7 Long version: https://build.opensuse.org/project/monitor?commit=Filter%3A&failed=1&pkgnam… This project's purpose is mainly to give a count down for the readyness of factory for gcc 4.6. If you want to fix a package for gcc46, you can branch normally and then do osc build --alternative-project=openSUSE:Factory:Staging:Gcc46 It would be great if some volunteer, because for most packages it's the same set of problem.
