[opensuse-packaging] pkgcompare does not work?

In theory if a new build does not differ from the previous, it should be skipped. But actually I receive massive updates from KDE3 repository with any new OpenSUSE rebuild. The source in KDE3:KDE was not changed, but the builds are not skipped and new packages are created. For example with today's update I received 76 packages from KDE:KDE3 dispite the code was not changed at all. If the mechanism of pkgcompare is broken in the build service? [opensuse-packaging] Question about the shared library packaging policy for unversioned libs

Hi! I try packaging getdata and even tried to submit it to Factory. But it was rejected because I did not split out libraries according to the shared library packaging policy. Now I tried to fix it, however there are a few libraries left, where I do not know how to handle them: /usr/lib/libgetdatabzip2-0.7.1.so /usr/lib/libgetdatabzip2.so /usr/lib/libgetdatagzip-0.7.1.so /usr/lib/libgetdatagzip.so /usr/lib/libgetdatalzma-0.7.1.so /usr/lib/libgetdatalzma.so AFAIU these are unversioned, so packaging them separatly does not make much sense. However rpmlint still complains: getdata.x86_64: W: shlib-policy-missing-suffix Your package containing shared libraries does not end in a digit and should probably be split. Hi Chris, You've been submit-requesting a lot of stuff to server:php:application. I'll review these but at first glance it looks like there are some pecl (parser modules) components among them. I think they should go into server:php:extensions instead because this is what they are, not PHP code (applications) I appreciate the move from php-pear-* to php5-pear-*. Did you include provides: to provide backward compatibility for packages relying on the old pear names? Generally I feel s:p:applications becomes crowded with a big load of library packages. hi folks, as you might know, since virtualbox 4.0.0 "usb guest support" feature is now open source code, but during tests i found the problem : virtualbox needs full access to usb nodes, which of course, could lead to serious security problem (see bnc#664520 for details) - this means that (currently) virtualbox (provided by suse) doesn't have usb guest support enabled, by default as a workaround I added comment with two udev lines, which creates usb nodes in /dev/vboxusb/ dir with r/w access for vboxusers group (which feeds the virtualbox's needs), so after enabling these two lines (in /etc/udev/rules.d/60-vboxdrv.rules) , your attached usb devices will be available also in virtualized guest system, but please keep in mind this could be real security problem ! [opensuse-packaging] Python 3.2 beta in d:l:py

fellow python packagers, i have just submitted a new Python3 into devel:languages:python:Factory. The new packages are largely untested, so i want to wait a while before forwarding to Factory. Also, there are loose ends i want to tie up. This would be a good time to send your python3 packages to d:l:py ;) A summary of changes you can expect follows. 1. changes in packaging * the package is now split into python3-base and python3, same as python 2.x * noarch packages are supported * RPM macros will be added before end of this week Please let me know about any specific packaging changes you'd like to see. 2. changes in Python * .pyc and .pyo files now reside in __pycache__ subdirectories of module directories. This might mess up your filelists. * binary modules are now ABI tagged. That means that instead of 'module.so', filename will be 'module.cpython-32m.so' This ABI tag will be available as a rpm macro. * Bunch of very nice new features, of notable interest is the new 'sysconfig' module some of you may already know from python 2.7. [opensuse-packaging] Could not install the file

|Hi folks, I have a small project that just requires the command 'python ./waf install' to install the files. However, on both my RPM and DEB builds it's coming back with 'Could not install the file' at the end. Can anyone explain why? Hi, I am working on packaging Pithos (a GNOME app for Pandora). Got things packaging OK, but when I run the app I get the following messages: ERROR:root:Gstreamer error: Your GStreamer installation is missing a plug-in., gstdecodebin2.c(3076): gst_decode_bin_expose (): /GstPlayBin2:player/GstURIDecodeBin:uridecodebin5/GstDecodeBin2:decodebin25: no suitable plugins found Any ideas what gstreamer plugin I am looking for? [opensuse-packaging] Help with libtool (relink)

I have a problem with home:RedDwarf:branches:Mono:Factory/moonlight. It builds fine in 11.3 but fails in Factory. The obvious part of the problem is that in Factory the "relink" (from install, why there is a relink to start with?) lacks a "-L/usr/src/packages/BUILDROOT/moonlight-2.3-0.x86_64/usr/lib64". [opensuse-packaging] Trouble building an unversioned library

Hello I'm having some trouble with the xfce4-notes-plugin panel plugin which produces a versioned library although I'm already passing the -avoid-version -module options to libtool. Any ideas how to avoid that?
