Suse Linux 10.1 , problem with homemade packages selection

Hello, I have a working "homemade" packages selection for Suse Linux 10.0. I decided to upgrade my system to Suse Linux 10.1 and I got an error during the installation process. In my autoyast.xml, I have <base>mySel</base> I added mySel.sel to the directory_yast and selections files and I added the "md5sum" to the MD5SUMS file. OK, again I'm having problems with partitions, but this time during the autoinstall: I tell the server the path to my autoyasttest.xml and everything looks great until it goes to partition/format/mount the drives. It's saying it cannot format hda6, however it shouldn't even be looking at or creating an hda6. One thing I noticed while using the Yast2 autoinstall option is that it doesn't let you specifically say you want to wipe and use the entire drive for a new install. I think there is a bug in SLES10 RC2 when using a customization config file

I'm trying to install SLES10 RC2 a pSeries node with autoyast. In my autoyast config file, I did not put any bootloader section in it. According the SLES doc http://www.suse.de/~ug/autoyast_doc/CreateProfile.Bootloader.html, it should work, and it did work on a xSeries node, but it failed on a pSeries node. BTW, the partition information in the autoyast config file is quite simple, but it work well on SLES9: <partitioning config:type="list"> <drive> <device>/dev/sda</device> <use>all</use> </drive> </partitioning> I really hope I can use this simple partition configuration in SLES10 since we need to installed mutilple nodes based on one autoyast config file. And I knew there is a bug in RC2 if I use the partition information from autoinst.xml that is created by autoyast. Error while configuring partitions. Try again. Error!

Hello. I am trying to create a custom SuSe CD such that it will install SuSe 9.3and certain custom packages without any user interactions. On my first try, using the autoYaST tool I made a reference profile and tried to automate the install procedure using that. However during the "Preparing System for Automated Installation" phase I get the following pop up error during the "Create partition plans" part; Error: Error while configuring partitions. Try again. Thinking that something might be wrong I decided to try again with the most basic profile file possible. So I used the profile as decribed in the FAQs at http://www.suse.com/~ug/AutoYaST_FAQ.html, (i.e. FAQ 1.4 What is the smallest profile that makes sense?). However even with that basic profile I got the same error, i.e. Error: Error while configuring partitions. Try again. I also did look into the y2log, but could not find anything wrong there. It seemed to detect the harddrive alright. Just to make sure there were no hardware problems, I tried installing it from the Suse installation CDs. The Suse CD seems to correctly detect the harddrive, and created the partitions properly. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing that error, or how I could go about trying to find out what is causing it and/or how to fix it? Thank you in advance. Regards, Hussain.

Hi Pete I didnt use the DVD image - I used the CD images. Perhaps the DVD one is broken? Launching autoYaST manually after imaging

I am wanting to launch autoYaST after I image a system using Novell Zenworks. Which is basically a dd of the drive. The only reason I need to launch autoYaST is because of the network interfaces(MAC addresses). So maybe there would be a better way of autoconfiging the network interfaces instead of using autoYaST. I have tried creating a control.xml file and placing it in /var/lib/YAST2 but this only prompts for printer configurations, not for network configurations. Thanks Jared
