How to create the control file for AutoYast2

Hi all, I try to install SuSE 8.0 from NFS server by using AutoYast2. I've already create a boot floppy. According to the document on AutoYast2 http://www.suse.de/~nashif/autoinstall/ you have to create the control file and make sure that package yast2-config-autoinst install on the system. 1) could somebody show me where can I get the package yast2-config-autoinst ? 2) How to create control file using the system ? Yast ncurses aborting during online update

Dear List, For the past few weeks, my two SuSE 8.0 systems can't do the text-mode based Yast2 online update. After the small window "Getting available server list..." the program aborts with: /sbin/yast: line 149: 20773 Aborted /usr/lib/YaST2/bin/y2base $module "$@" ncurses Anybody have any idea what's wrong? I have tried: - reinstall all yast packages - install the update available yast2-config-online-update.rpm The logfiles in /var/log/y2* don't provide much usefull information. Any help would be greatly apreciated! latest autoyast

Hi, While reading list archives I noticed talking about older and newer versions. Are these latest versions? yast2-trans-autoinst-2.5.14-6 yast2-module-autoinst-2.5.24-0 yast2-config-autoinst-2.5.16-1 If not, where to get newer ones? -- Peeter

Keeping partitions...

Hi there! As a former user of yast1 autoinstall I'm missing a little feature: I'd like to keep a certain partition on the client machines and use the rest of the hard disk for Linux. This was possible with YaST1, but there's nothing about a similar feature in the AutoYaST documentation. Is there a (un-)documented way to do this or did I miss something? Merging xml files

Hello Anas, I just wonder, why you use saxon for merging the xml files and not the small tool xsltproc contained in the package libxslt. It faster by Magnitutes and also soes not scramble up the Scripts in CDATA as mergeClasses/Saxon does. Problems with creating custom CD

Hi, I wish to compose custom install CD so that server could be fully restored from single CD without network. I'm booting from this same CD and my boot command line looks like this: autoyast=floppy://myserverl.xml install=cdrom:// Now I'm stuck with last problem: after configuring and partitioning setup wants to mount install media but fails because CD is mounted already and busy: Could not mount the source medium. mount: /dev/hdd already mounted or /var/adm/mount busy mount: according to mtab, /dev/hdd is already mounted on /var/adm/mount. What I do wrong and how to get this setup working? -- Peeter

Old AST + PCMCIA

Problems is that when I boot with install Boot floppies card is found and network works fine.. OK, I made install of Suse 8.0 via NFS. Problems start when after install I start from HD.. Now It cannot find PCMCIA anymore.. I just get errors and no modules are loaded.. Those modules are there but IF I try to load same modules what was loaded during boot-floppy use, I get errors too.. Like those modules at HD are not same what install-disk #3 had... Please!! BTW. I made the CD on an OS/2 System with mkisofs and cdrecord. And I looked into the soure of the YaST2 autoinstall package and find the part wich looks for the CD. But I don't know what exactly YaST2 is looking for. A special file or only the Volume Name? regards Stephan Joerrens

Hi. I made an own CD with only the needed RPMs and an disk with the autoinst.xml. WIth the original DVD it works great, but the final target system has no DVD, only CD-ROM. So I made my own CD Image. But every time I get teh message that this is not the right CD for an autoinstall, but YaST2 accept these CD as source..... Here is my mkisofs command: mkisofs -oe:\images\autosuse.img -p"Stephan.Joerrens(a)GAD.de" -P"GAD DZS/ABS" -A"SuSE-Linux-Professional- DEi386-8.0.0#autoinstall0" -V"SuSEautoinst.001" -r -T -J -pad -bsuse/images/boot/isolinux.bin -csuse/images/isolinux.catalog -no-emul-boot -boot-load-size 4 boot-info-table . I looked in th esource of the autoinstall part, but I didn't find the right part or what exactly wants Yast2 to accept an CD as source for an autoinstallation. Under 7.1 our own CD has worked fine.
