again/still: Sun W1100z - problem with keyboard and mouse

Hello, unfortunately, I still have the same problem as described in this discussion: http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-amd64/2005-Jul/0040.html Every five seconds the machine seems to 'sleep' for a short moment and does not accept keyboard input and/or mouse movements. Someone suggested to switch ACPI off (boot option acpi=off), but this freezes the boot process. I tried: suse 9.1, suse 9.3 and suse 10.0 Thanks for any hint(s). Greetings Harald -- Dr.-Ing. 9.2 -> 9.3, lost wireless

I finally got around to updating my laptop from 9.2 to 9.3. And now the wireless doesn't work. Everything seems to be okay, but it won't get an address if in dhcp. Will let me set a static ip, but won't even ping the router. I did an online update via wire last night, no joy. This is a built in wireless b in a 2 yr old toshiba laptop. It's been working in 9.1 and 9.2. Shows up as an Intersil Prism or something like that. Can anyone give me some troubleshooting ideas? Thanks, Joe

Another option would be in YAST. compilation problem

SuSE 10 and the mystery of the vanishing CPU cycles

Hi, Just installed SuSE10 on an AMD64 (hence cross posting). I prefer Gnome and have been running with that for a few days, and have noticed a pretty serious problem. For no apparent reason the CPU utilization will go to 100% after I've been using the machine normally. If I look with top there are 3 candidate processes for hogging the CPU: gnome-settings, gnome-panel and nautilus. Looking around on the net, the nearest thing I can find is a bug with gnome-vfs (in Gnome 2.8) that caused similar problems and seemed to be related to nfs mounted home directories (which mine are). Has anyone else seen this behaviour - other weird slow-downs? Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this? I saw a suggestion for deleting .gconf and .gconfd - but that has not fixed the problem for me. Hi all, I am new here; I have found that if I call an ELF32 Executable program from a php page loaded by a 64 bit PHP module then I obtain a shared library error, even if the program does not require the library. practical example: compile this ====== pro.c #include <stdio.h> main() { printf("Hello world\n"); } ------ cc -o pro -m32 pro.c then call it from a php page: ========= r.phtml <?php $s = "/tmp/pro 2>/tmp/er 1>&2"; echo "$s : "; $rrr=exec($s); echo `cat /tmp/er`; echo "<hr>"; // just to test that it works... $s = "ls -al /tmp 2>/tmp/er 1>&2"; echo "$s : "; $rrr=exec($s); echo `cat /tmp/er`; ?> ---- http://localhost/r,phtml issuee? Sata Raid Controller for 64 bit?

Hi to all, We have a Fujitsu Siemens Econel 200 Server. 2x Intel Xeon 2.8, 2x SATA HDD. Suse 9.1 64 Prof is installed. At the moment we are using a software raid, but we want to buy 2 more HDD's and implement a 0+1 or 1+0 RAID. I looked over and over about raid controllers, have found from 120 EURO's to 1000 EURO's but there seems to be a little problematic the Suse 64 driver. A very convenient driver would be the Promise FastTrack S150 TX4 or SX4 controller but I still don't know if the drivers are quite functional. The tx4 seems faster as the sx4 but has no 64 driver. We had in the past some problems with hardware raid controller on suse. Does anyone uses some good raid controllers and could give me some informations? Regards, Andy.

system completely freezes

Hi, I installed Suse 10.RC1 on an amilo 1630V laptop for a couple of weeks ago and since then my system randomly freezes (aprox once a day). I now installed release 10 from scratch (no update) and I still get the same behaviour. Nothing "strange" is written in /var/log/messages. Does somebody have some ideas on the reasons for this or on how to track down the reasons ? The system really freezes, it is not just the display. Regards Michele

apt-get slow as molasses

Has anybody tried apt-get for 9.3 recently? It seems to me that it has slowed down the past couple of months. The web site for apt-get for SuSE does not even mention the 64-bit 9.3, let alone 10.0.
