Anyone using SBLive! with Linux?

Hi All! I just have a quick question. After fixing the bug in SuSE 9.1 with sound (has something to do with Kmix and KDEMultimediasomethingorother), I have managed to get sound working. Unfortunately I have to shift the speaker connection from the green connector that Windows uses for sound, to a connector two places up the card (may be blue). Does anyone know what I can do to make SuSE use the green connector on the SBLive! card? I'm not a big fan of plugging and unplugging live devices at the back of the PC :-) My system is AMD 64 2800+ with SBLive sound card, running SuSE 9.1 Pro 64 Bit (and XP on another drive). 9.1 random lockup

Over the past couple weeks I've been noticing my system locking up more and more. I could be in the middle of something and BAM! everything freezes. In looking at the logs, all I see in /var/log/messages is: Oct 7 09:23:40 Sun-linux kernel: hda: dma_intr: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error } Oct 7 09:23:40 Sun-linux kernel: hda: dma_intr: error=0x84 { DriveStatusError BadCRC } The next message has to do with me restarting. Next SuSE 9.2 and AMD64 laptop (bis)

Sorry, I forgot to ask if the second problem, about USB memory stick, is solved too. The problem is the same on an AMD64 laptop (Athlon64) or an AMD64 desktop (Opteron) with SuSE 9.1 and kernel 2.6.5 : it is not possible to read an USB 2.0 memory stick (an HyperDrive in this case). No problem with an USB 1.1 one. This problem does not exist with SuSE 9.0 AMD64 (kernel 2.4.21) on these same PCs. is there a significant progress for reading USB 2.0 memory sticks. Regards Pascal

Can anyone asnwer the original Question? Is there a beta program planned for 9.2? If so how does one apply? Hi- I have a HP zv5000z which works well for my needs using both Linux SUSE 9.0 9.1 amd64 and XP Pro with cygwin. Graphics are well Bupported on 9.1 with Nvida drivers (I haven't tried sound). There is a forum on the zv5000v at http://www.notebookreview.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=713 I have maxed out memory at 2GB. Some complaints: The power supply is too heavy- The SF card reader has stopped working but I can't part with unit long enough to get it fixed. The screen (1680x1050) is nice for office but makes unit too big to conveniently use in coach on airplane. The unit draws too much power using my dc/ac converter and the HP brick power supply to use on airplane. The 80 GB disk (4200 rpm) is a performance dog. If a smaller and lighter (<2.5 kg) amd64 unit comes out I would probably replace this unit. However Sun is supposedly coming out with an operton notebook and I would suffer the size and weight for 4gb of memory. Hello Len, My experience with an AMD64 laptop began on last July. In France, the choice of AMD64 laptop is not very large : Acer Aspire 15xx, Asus L5D series, Targa Visionnary (only one time in LIDL shops). I bought the Asus L5D : Athlon64 3000+ 1Mo L2, 512 Mo DDR (3200 or 2700, I don't remember), HD 60 Go, video card nVidia gForce 5650 64 Mo, screen SXGA (1400x1050) (very beautiful colors !), chipset nVidia nForce3 Go150, wifi Broadcom, ethernet 10/100/1000, DVD reader/recorder -R/RW, 2 PCMCIA slots, //, serial, 4 usb 2.0, VGA output, SVideo output, ieee1394. A card 3n1 reader. IrDA. Battery : 2 hours. A very good laptop to my mind. On it : WinXP Pro (sorry), SuSE 9.0 AMD64 and SuSE 9.1 AMD64 with all updates by SuSE. Between the two SuSE AMD64, the 9.0 is better : the kernel 2.4.21 is "old", the 2.6.5 is too much young. With nVidia chipset and video card, no problem with drivers : they are available on the website of nVidia, for Linux X86_64, and they work fine (up to now; you need only the video driver in fact) : they are not "beta". This is not the case for ATI : the video driver 64 bits is not available at this moment So do choose an AMD64 laptop with nVidia chipsets ! Which does not work : PC card, wifi, card 3n1 reader. For wifi : no driver 64 bits (by Broadcom or by other people of open source; for 32 bits linux : the windows driver can be use). For PCMCIA : there is a bug in the kernels 2.4.21 and 2.6.5; the problem should be solved with kernel 2.6.8 of the next SuSE 9.2. For card 3n1 reader : in the future .... About USB 2.0 memory stick : it does not work the SuSE 9.1 (the stick : HyperDrive 256 Mo USB 2.0), no problem with SuSE 9.0. I use an ADSL modem on ethernet port : OK. DVD or CD burning : OK with K3B.. Video : OK. Sound : OK (without nVidia driver). Not yet tested : IrDA, //, serial, ieee1394, S-Video output, VGA output but all should work. Ah, about the internal modem : this is a new Conexant chip. The driver 64 bits is not avaible, only a 32 bits one on the Linuxant website. Ext3 file system capacity limitation

I am trying to set up a large Ext3 file system on a dual opteron box with Suse 9.1 x86-64 Professional. I use the yast2 - system - partitioner to do that. >From the Partitioner display, I have a 4.0 TB storage. But after formatting it as an Ext3 file system, it is shown as a 1.6TB to the df command. If I format it as a ReiserFS, df shows correctly as a 4.0TB file system. Why ext3 shows 1.6TB and not 4.0TB? Thank you.
