usb hard disk stalls while coping

I plug in my usb hard disk and i manually mount the partition. After a number of files is copied to the disk, the disk stops copying and stalls ... Any suggestions I have the standard x86_64 kernel with the corresponting versions of hotplug, hwinfo, submount Thanx GX

xlib or XDM troubles

With SuSE 9.1 on an AMD64-3200 I've been trying to get some programs to run/install as su and I consistantly am encountering the following. Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server Xlib: Invalid XDM-AUTHORIZATION-1 key (failed key comparison) Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0 yes I have been doing the xhost localhost command as a standard user. lockd failing for new cadence tool

Tool reports: TFW068 (S) A severe problem occurred while read locking the "/usr2/mmarion/cadence/tbdata/locks/globalData_itself" file. The system reason for this message is >>No locks available<<. Read locking has failed. Cadence says it's a suse thing, that Redhat works fine. Anyone seen this error and know a fix? Only hit I got on google was to another suse list that said make sure lockd is running.. which I've done. How much physical memory does kernel-smp-2.6.5 on x86-64 support? I have 4GiB physical memory, but SLES9 x86-64 is only reporting 3.5GiB. Any way around this? -- Cameron

Why is it impossible to enable ISA through the menuconfig interface ? I needed it for the NSC-IRCC IRDA module and ended up with the editing of Kconfig. Oleg.

I had one bank (of three) of RAM configured as a hot-spare. I tried reconfiguring in the BIOS to just use all the available RAM, and now the smp kernel recognizes more There is about 225MiB missing now, vs. 512MiB missing as before, which I guess is justifiable per attached email that Kevin sent me. I wonder why more RAM is lost when less is available? -- Cameron

Hello About your first question : I wrote a previous mail about 64 bits laptop. It is in this mailing list of October. If you want to use a 64 bits linux such as Suse 9.1, you should verify if the video part of the laptop is supported by 64 bits drivers. The main video cards for laptop with Athlon64 are based on ATI or nVidia chipsets. ATI does not supply a 64 bits drivers. Only nVidia supplies such a driver. My ASUS L5D series laptop is built with a nVidia gForce 5650 video and a nVidia gForce 3 150Go chipset for Athlon64. The Acer Aspire 1511 (or 151x) is based on the same chipset, the video is a gForce 5700. The previous one, the 1501 used an ATI video card and a VIA chipset. These two laptop are available in France.
