Hello everyone!
NOTE: Cross-posted as this involves both teams, IMHO.
We have a need for icons for the updater applet for both GNOME and KDE.
The current icons have certain limitations in areas of usability and
accessibility. Please refer to bug 246157 [1] for an example.
I have made some proposals in the wiki [2]. One might also check the
parent page [3], which also holds the current icons.
Currently we have 4 icons, based on a blue dot with a small label on the
bottom right. Each label indicates a certain state:
* Red: Error occured
* Yellow: Updates available
* Striped(Yellow/Black): Checking for Updates
* Green: No updates
We want to have another state: "Applying Updates", which could be merged
with "Checking for updates" into "Updater working/Busy"
So, UX teams should verify which states need distinguishing from a
usability perspective and artworkers should then find a usable and
accessible solution.

hi,
i was reading through the current artwork guidelines and noticed the FIXME in
teh colours section...
i've made a .gpl file for the opensuse colour palette, and atatched it to the
artwork guidelines [1]. because the wiki wont allow this filetype to be
uploaded, i've put it on google pages [2].
i was wondering if either jimmac or another novell employee could perhaps put
the file in a more permanant location?

We had our kickoff openSUSE Software Portal project meeting today.
The goals are to provide the best possible end-user experience with
regards to package installation/upgrading at large.
The idea is to provide several software components and services:
* a server backend that aggregates various kinds of information
* a web client, including one-click installation (yast2-mpp)
* a desktop client (GTK/Qt/YaST)
More information about the project:
http://en.opensuse.org/Software_Portalhttp://dev-loki.blogspot.com/2007/05/project-launch-opensuse-software-porta…
Basic infrastructure is set up, so if you want to join the effort (any
help is more than welcome), please subscribe to our mailing-list [1]
We're definitely looking for Java/Python/YCP developers, web designers,
artwork designers, and people with ideas, suggestions, and motivation.

Hi,
I think the Large icons
(Definiton: http://tango.freedesktop.org/Tango_Icon_Theme_Guidelines)
are consuming too much space on the desktop and in the file manager.
I'd like to know what the reason is for using so big icons? I think
medium would be better. (Maybe it's a user error but I didn't find an
easy way to change these icons' sizes. I'm using SLED10.)
Regards,
Andras

Hey Jakub!
Congrats on your own mailinglist.
I'm really looking forward to all the new graphics in 10.3, when can we
expect them in the alpha/betas?
