Is there any reason why YaST under Xfce uses the Qt and not the gtk frontend? Personally I prefer the gtk frontend, and even after changing it in sysconfig to use gtk it still insists on using Qt. So I have to run it from the command line - yast2 --gtk. [opensuse-xfce] Help for a newcomer to XFCE

Greetings, I'm a noob when it comes to the ways of XFCE, I'm predominantly a GNOME user although I do also use KDE. I would love to use XFCE on my eeePC, and also hopefully create a usb image for others to use. I do have a few questions with this in mind: 1. As the standard eeePC is very limited on space I would really like to hear of people's recommendations for applications. Ideally I would like to have as close to a full blown desktop providing all the functionality that I would see in a full sized laptop. I think the basics for this list are - RSS reader, IRC client, IM client, e-mail client, calendar client, VoIP client, webcam client, Office apps (Word Processor/Spreadsheet/Presentation/PDF), Media client (video and audio), codecs, network management, Image viewer. I appreciate that some of these are provided by default XFCE and also the Community repo. 2. Does anyone have a link to or could they provide a KIWI control file for creating an XFCE live CD or similar? Obviously having the application list first would help in the creation of the xml. 3. If I choose to use NetworkManager under XFCE how would I enable it to start automatically when I log in? At the minute I have to run nm-applet manually to be able to get my network status and connect to wireless APs. Good evening all. I have attached a slightly darker Version of the Xfce-openSUSE Theme as some of you complained about the very bright (Vista inspired) colors ;) If you agree I am going to start reworking some buttons and scrollers. Best Regards Marcus

Hi all. You can take a look at Red Devil's (I personally never heard of him before) review of Xfce on openSUSE 11.0: http://reddevil62-techhead.blogspot.com/2008/06/quick-appraisal-xfce-in-ope… He was very confused of all the YaST elements in the settings menu. This was something I have also criticized a few month before and I hoped that somebody will take care of it before the release. Hi! I just received a question about using SLIM in openSUSE. Any ideas? -------- Original Message -------- Hello ! Hi all. Do you think it's possible to use the Murrina Engine for GTK themes? With this engines, we got a lot more options for themes. I would suggest Gonxical: http://www.xfce-look.org/content/show.php/Murrina+Gonxical?content=74339 which looks a bit like the GNOME Gilouche theme but integrates better in Xfce.
