[opensuse-announce] Novell Client for Linux Public Beta for openSUSE 10.3

We're pleased to announce the public beta of the Novell Client for openSUSE 10.3. Novell released the packages [1] for the Novell Client for Linux 2.0 SP1 public beta today. A number of openSUSE users have expressed interest in having the client packaged for openSUSE, so our developers have been working on building the client against openSUSE. Please download the package and give it a try on your systems. Novell is also working on a package for openSUSE 11.0, though we don't have an official timeline for that package yet. We will also post an announcement when it's available, and will post announcements for any further betas or the final release of the Novell Client for Linux. [opensuse-announce] Helping Hands First Event

The GNOME Team will host its first Helping Hands event this coming Friday, June 27th at 14:30 UTC in the #opensuse-gnome IRC channel on the FreeNode Network. This will be an extended two-hour event where various members of the GNOME team will talk about different features of the GNOME desktop and offer assistance in setting up your custom environment. You can find out more about the Helping Hands project at http://en.opensuse.org/GNOME/HowTos. Incidentally, there has already been talk on several fronts about expanding the Helping Hands project to cover all areas of openSUSE. Hi, I’m happy to announce that OpenOffice.org 2.4.1 is available in the Build Service OpenOffice.org:STABLE project. We are sorry for the delay. It was mostly caused by the bug https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=398244. It was very annoying, hard to reproduce and hard to fix. We delayed the announce because we wanted to make sure that you get really stable build. Where to get it: The list of installation repositories can be found at http://en.opensuse.org/Additional_YaST_Package_Repositories#OpenOffice.org_… Installation problems: There are some problems with the version update on older distributions. The openSUSE-GNOME Team is proud to announce the launch of the Helping Hands Project. Our first event will be the Helping Hands Grand Opening in the #opensuse-gnome channel on the FreeNode IRC network, June 27th at 14:30 UTC. The Grand Opening event will be an extended two hour event attended by many of our GNOME team members to offer advice and answer questions for setting up and customizing your new openSUSE 11.0 GNOME environment. For those of you new to openSUSE, this will be a great time to get those questions answered and learn just how great the 11.0 distribution is.
