______________________________________________________________________________
1) Solved Security Vulnerabilities
To avoid flooding mailing lists with SUSE Security Announcements for minor
issues, SUSE Security releases weekly summary reports for the low profile
vulnerability fixes. The SUSE Security Summary Reports do not list or
download URLs like the SUSE Security Announcements that are released for
more severe vulnerabilities.
Fixed packages for the following incidents are already available on our FTP
server and via the YaST Online Update.
- cifs-mount/samba
With enabled "wide links" samba follows symbolic links on the server
side, therefore allowing clients to overwrite arbitrary files
(CVE-2010-0926). This update changes the default setting to have
"wide links" disabled by default. The new default only works if
"wide links" is not set explicitly in smb.conf.
Due to a race condition in mount.cifs a local attacker could corrupt
/etc/mtab if mount.cifs is installed setuid root. mount.cifs is not
setuid root by default and it's not recommended to change that
(CVE-2010-0547).
Affected products: SLE 11, openSUSE 11.0-11.2
- compiz-fusion-plugins-main
The expo plugin in Compiz Fusion allowed local users with physical access
to bypass the screen-saver by just dragging it aside. (CVE-2008-6514:
CVSS v2 Base Score: 6.2)
Affected products: SLE 11, openSUSE 11.0-11.2
- cron
This update of cron fixes a race condition in crontab that can be used to
change the time-stamp of arbitrary files while editing the crontab entry.
CVE-2010-0424: CVSS v2 Base Score: 3.6
Additionally the return value of initgroups() is verified now.
Affected products: SLE 10 SP2+SP3 , SLE 11, openSUSE 11.0-11.2,
Moblin 2.0-2.1
- cups
lppasswd when running setuid or setgid still honors environment variables
that specify the location of message files. Local attackers could exploit
that to gather information by using crafted format strings
(CVE-2010-0393).
The previous fix for a use-after-free vulnerability (CVE-2009-3553) was
incomplete (CVE-2010-0302).
Affected products: SLE 11, openSUSE 11.0-11.2, Moblin 2.0-2.1
- ethereal/wireshark
This update of ethereal fixes:
- CVE-2009-4376: Remote attackers could potentially trigger a buffer
overflow in the Daintree SNA file parser.
- CVE-2009-4377: Specially crafted packets could cause the SMB and SMB2
dissector to crash wireshark.
- CVE-2009-2563: Unspecified vulnerability in the Infiniband dissector
allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service.
- CVE-2010-0304: Several buffer overflows in the LWRES dissector.
Affected products: SLES 9, SLE 10 SP2+SP3, SLE 11, openSUSE 11.0-11.2
- krb5
MITKRB5-SA-2010-002: unauthenticated remote attacker could cause a
GSS-API application including the Kerberos administration daemon
(kadmind) to crash.
CVE-2010-0628 has been assigned to this issue.
Affected products: openSUSE 11.2
- mysql
- fixing various security issues (bnc#557669)
- upstream #47320 - checking server certificates (CVE-2009-4028)
- upstream #48291 - error handling in subqueries (CVE-2009-4019)
- upstream #47780 - preserving null_value flag in GeomFromWKB()
(CVE-2009-4019)
- upstream #39277 - symlink behaviour fixed (CVE-2008-7247)
- upstream #32167 - symlink behaviour refixed (CVE-2009-4030)
- fixing remote buffer overflow (CVE-2009-4484)
Affected products: SLE 10 SP2+SP3
- pulseaudio
Due to a race condition in pulseaudio a local attacker could make
pulseaudio change ownership and permissions of arbitrary files.
The problem is only security relevant if pulseaudio is run in
"system mode" which is not the case by default (CVE-2009-1299).
Affected products: openSUSE 11.0-11.2
- squid/squid3
The following vulnerabilities have been fixed in squid:
- CVE-2009-2855: DoS via special crafted auth header
- CVE-2010-0308: DoS via invalid DoS header
Affected products: SLES 9, SLE 10 SP2+SP3, SLE 11, openSUSE 11.0-11.2
- viewvc
Query forms didn't escape user provided input, therefore allowing
cross-site-scripting (XSS) attacks.
CVE-2010-0736 has been assigned to this issue.
Affected products: openSUSE 11.0-11.2

3) Authenticity Verification and Additional Information
- Announcement authenticity verification:
SUSE security announcements are published via mailing lists and on Web
sites. The authenticity and integrity of a SUSE security announcement is
guaranteed by a cryptographic signature in each announcement. All SUSE
security announcements are published with a valid signature.
To verify the signature of the announcement, save it as text into a file
and run the command
gpg --verify <file>
replacing <file> with the name of the file containing the announcement.
The output for a valid signature looks like:
gpg: Signature made <DATE> using RSA key ID 3D25D3D9
gpg: Good signature from "SuSE Security Team <security(a)suse.de>"
where <DATE> is replaced by the date the document was signed.
If the security team's key is not contained in your key ring, you can
import it from the first installation CD. To import the key, use the
command
gpg --import gpg-pubkey-3d25d3d9-36e12d04.asc
- Package authenticity verification:
SUSE update packages are available on many mirror FTP servers all over the
world. While this service is considered valuable and important to the free
and open source software community, the authenticity and integrity of a
package needs to be verified to ensure that it has not been tampered with.
The internal RPM package signatures provide an easy way to verify the
authenticity of an RPM package. Use the command
rpm -v --checksig <file.rpm>
to verify the signature of the package, replacing <file.rpm> with the
filename of the RPM package downloaded. The package is unmodified if it
contains a valid signature from build(a)suse.de with the key ID 9C800ACA.
This key is automatically imported into the RPM database (on RPMv4-based
distributions) and the gpg key ring of 'root' during installation. You can
also find it on the first installation CD and included at the end of this
announcement.
- SUSE runs two security mailing lists to which any interested party may
subscribe:
opensuse-security(a)opensuse.org
- General Linux and SUSE security discussion.
All SUSE security announcements are sent to this list.
To subscribe, send an e-mail to
<opensuse-security+subscribe(a)opensuse.org>.
opensuse-security-announce(a)opensuse.org
- SUSE's announce-only mailing list.
Only SUSE's security announcements are sent to this list.
To subscribe, send an e-mail to
<opensuse-security-announce+subscribe(a)opensuse.org>.

______________________________________________________________________________
1) Problem Description and Brief Discussion
This update fixes lots of bugs and some security issues in the SUSE
Linux Enterprise 10 SP 3 kernel.
CVE-2009-4020: Stack-based buffer overflow in the hfs subsystem in the
Linux kernel allows remote attackers to have an unspecified impact
via a crafted Hierarchical File System (HFS) filesystem, related to
the hfs_readdir function in fs/hfs/dir.c.
CVE-2010-0410: drivers/connector/connector.c in the Linux kernel
allows local users to cause a denial of service (memory consumption and
system crash) by sending the kernel many NETLINK_CONNECTOR messages.
CVE-2009-3556: A configuration value in the qla2xxx driver in the
Linux kernel when N_Port ID Virtualization (NPIV) hardware is used,
sets world-writable permissions for the (1) vport_create and (2)
vport_delete files under /sys/class/scsi_host/, which allows local
users to make arbitrary changes to SCSI host attributes by modifying
these files.
CVE-2010-1083: A kernel information leak using user space USB devices
could be used by local attackers with USB access to read recently
freed kernel memory.
CVE-2010-1086: A ULE decapsulation denial of service problem in DVB
drivers was fixed that could be triggered by invalid DVB data packets.
CVE-2010-1088: A NFS denial of service by following "automount"
symlinks was fixed.
2) Solution or Work-Around
There is no known workaround, please install the update packages.
3) Special Instructions and Notes
Please reboot the machine after installing the update.
4) Package Location and Checksums
The preferred method for installing security updates is to use the YaST
Online Update (YOU) tool. YOU detects which updates are required and
automatically performs the necessary steps to verify and install them.
Alternatively, download the update packages for your distribution manually
and verify their integrity by the methods listed in Section 6 of this
announcement. Then install the packages using the command
rpm -Fhv <file.rpm>
to apply the update, replacing <file.rpm> with the filename of the
downloaded RPM package.
Our maintenance customers are notified individually. The packages are
offered for installation from the maintenance web:

6) Authenticity Verification and Additional Information
- Announcement authenticity verification:
SUSE security announcements are published via mailing lists and on Web
sites. The authenticity and integrity of a SUSE security announcement is
guaranteed by a cryptographic signature in each announcement. All SUSE
security announcements are published with a valid signature.
To verify the signature of the announcement, save it as text into a file
and run the command
gpg --verify <file>
replacing <file> with the name of the file where you saved the
announcement.
SUSE update packages are available on many mirror FTP servers all over the
world. While this service is considered valuable and important to the free
and open source software community, the authenticity and the integrity of
a package needs to be verified to ensure that it has not been tampered
with.
This key is automatically imported into the RPM database (on
RPMv4-based distributions) and the gpg key ring of 'root' during
installation. You can also find it on the first installation CD and at
the end of this announcement.
- SUSE runs two security mailing lists to which any interested party may
subscribe:
opensuse-security(a)opensuse.org
- General Linux and SUSE security discussion.
All SUSE security announcements are sent to this list.
To subscribe, send an e-mail to
<opensuse-security+subscribe(a)opensuse.org>.

______________________________________________________________________________
1) Problem Description and Brief Discussion
This update of the openSUSE 11.2 kernel contains a lot of bug and
security fixes.
Following security issues were fixed:
CVE-2010-0622: The wake_futex_pi function in kernel/futex.c in the Linux
kernel does not properly handle certain unlock operations for a Priority
Inheritance (PI) futex, which allows local users to cause a denial of
service (OOPS) and possibly have unspecified other impact via vectors
involving modification of the futex value from user space.
CVE-2010-0623: The futex_lock_pi function in kernel/futex.c in the Linux
kernel does not properly manage a certain reference count, which allows
local users to cause a denial of service (OOPS) via vectors involving
an umount of an ext3 filesystem.
CVE-2010-0415: The do_pages_move function in mm/migrate.c in the Linux
kernel does not validate node values, which allows local users to read
arbitrary kernel memory locations, cause a denial of service (OOPS),
and possibly have unspecified other impact by specifying a node that is
not part of the kernel's node set.
CVE-2010-0410: drivers/connector/connector.c in the Linux kernel allows
local users to cause a denial of service (memory consumption and system
crash) by sending the kernel many NETLINK_CONNECTOR messages.
CVE-2009-4031: The do_insn_fetch function in arch/x86/kvm/emulate.c in the
x86 emulator in the KVM subsystem in the Linux kernel tries to interpret
instructions that contain too many bytes to be valid, which allows guest
OS users to cause a denial of service (increased scheduling latency)
on the host OS via unspecified manipulations related to SMP support.
This update also contains a large roll-up of fixes for the rt2860 and
rt3090 wireless drivers from the mainline kernel.
2) Solution or Work-Around
There is no known workaround, please install the update packages.
3) Special Instructions and Notes
Please reboot the machine after installing the update.
4) Package Location and Checksums
The preferred method for installing security updates is to use the YaST
Online Update (YOU) tool. YOU detects which updates are required and
automatically performs the necessary steps to verify and install them.
Alternatively, download the update packages for your distribution manually
and verify their integrity by the methods listed in Section 6 of this
announcement. Then install the packages using the command
rpm -Fhv <file.rpm>
to apply the update, replacing <file.rpm> with the filename of the
downloaded RPM package.

SUSE update packages are available on many mirror FTP servers all over the
world. While this service is considered valuable and important to the free
and open source software community, the authenticity and the integrity of
a package needs to be verified to ensure that it has not been tampered
with.
To subscribe, send an e-mail to
<opensuse-security+subscribe(a)opensuse.org>.
opensuse-security-announce(a)opensuse.org
- SUSE's announce-only mailing list.
Only SUSE's security announcements are sent to this list.
To subscribe, send an e-mail to
<opensuse-security-announce+subscribe(a)opensuse.org>.

SUSE update packages are available on many mirror FTP servers all over the
world. While this service is considered valuable and important to the free
and open source software community, the authenticity and the integrity of
a package needs to be verified to ensure that it has not been tampered
with.
To subscribe, send an e-mail to
<opensuse-security+subscribe(a)opensuse.org>.
opensuse-security-announce(a)opensuse.org
- SUSE's announce-only mailing list.
Only SUSE's security announcements are sent to this list.
To subscribe, send an e-mail to
<opensuse-security-announce+subscribe(a)opensuse.org>.

- evolution considered S/MIME signatures to be valid even for modified
mails (CVE-2009-0547: CVSS v2 Base Score: 5.0).
A POP3 server sending overly long lines could crash evolution.
Affected products: SLE 11
- finch/pidgin/libpurple
This update of pidgin fixes various security vulnerabilities
- CVE-2010-0013: CVSS v2 Base Score: 4.3: Path Traversal (CWE-22)
Remote file disclosure vulnerability by using the MSN protocol.
- CVE-2010-0277: CVSS v2 Base Score: 4.9: Resource Management Errors
(CWE-399)
MSN protocol plugin in libpurple allowed remote attackers to cause a
denial of service (memory corruption) at least.
- CVE-2010-0420
Same nick names in XMPP MUC lead to a crash in finch.
- CVE-2010-0423
A remote denial of service attack (resource consumption) is possible
by sending an IM with a lot of smilies in it.
Affected products: SLES 10 SP2 + SP3, SLE 11, openSUSE 11.0-11.2,
Moblin 2.0-2.1
- flash-player
Insufficient checks in flash-player allowed malicious flash applets to
create illegal cross-domain requests (CVE-2010-0186). The update also
fixes a denial of service condition (CVE-2010-0187).
Affected products: Moblin 2.0-2.1
- gmime-2_4
This update of gmime fixes a buffer overflow in the GMIME_UUENCODE_LEN
macro which allowed possible code execution while processing uuencoded
data. (CVE-2010-0409: CVSS v2 Base Score: 5.8)
Affected products: SLE 11, openSUSE 11.0-11.2
- libnetpbm
This update of netpbm fxes a stack-based buffer overflow that could be
triggered while processing the contents of XPM headers in image files.
(CVE-2009-4274: CVSS v2 Base Score: 5.8 (moderate)
(AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:P/A:P): Buffer Errors (CWE-119))
Affected products: SLES 9, OES, POS 9, SLE 10 SP2 + SP3, SLE 11,

for a HTTP request.
- CVE-2009-4214: CVSS v2 Base Score: 4.3
The method strip_tags does not completely protect agains XSS attacks.
Affected products: SLE 10 SP2 + SP3, SLE 11, openSUSE 11.2
- sudo
This update fixes the following security issue:
- CVE-2010-0426:CVSS v2 Base Score: 6.6
A privilege escalation flaw was found in the way
sudo used to check file paths for pseudocommands.
If local, unprivileged user was authorized by sudoers
file to edit one or more files, it could lead to
execution of arbitrary code, with the privileges
of privileged system user (root).
- CVE-2010-0427:CVSS v2 Base Score: 6.6
Sudo failed to properly reset group permissions, when
'runas_default' option was used. If a local, unprivileged
user was authorized by sudoers file to perform their
sudo commands under default user account, it could lead
to privilege escalation
Affected products: SLE 10 SP2 + SP3, SLE 11, openSUSE 11.0-11.2

The openSUSE 11.0 kernel was updated to fix following security issues:
CVE-2009-4020: Stack-based buffer overflow in the hfs subsystem in the
Linux kernel 2.6.32 allows remote attackers to have an unspecified impact
via a crafted Hierarchical File System (HFS) filesystem, related to the
hfs_readdir function in fs/hfs/dir.c.
CVE-2010-0307: The load_elf_binary function in fs/binfmt_elf.c in the
Linux kernel before 2.6.32.8 on the x86_64 platform does not ensure that
the ELF interpreter is available before a call to the SET_PERSONALITY
macro, which allows local users to cause a denial of service (system
crash) via a 32-bit application that attempts to execute a 64-bit
application and then triggers a segmentation fault, as demonstrated by
amd64_killer, related to the flush_old_exec function.
CVE-2010-0622: The wake_futex_pi function in kernel/futex.c in the
Linux kernel before 2.6.33-rc7 does not properly handle certain unlock
operations for a Priority Inheritance (PI) futex, which allows local
users to cause a denial of service (OOPS) and possibly have unspecified
other impact via vectors involving modification of the futex value from
user space.
CVE-2010-0410: drivers/connector/connector.c in the Linux kernel
before 2.6.32.8 allows local users to cause a denial of service (memory
consumption and system crash) by sending the kernel many NETLINK_CONNECTOR
messages.
CVE-2010-0415: The do_pages_move function in mm/migrate.c in the Linux
kernel before 2.6.33-rc7 does not validate node values, which allows
local users to read arbitrary kernel memory locations, cause a denial of
service (OOPS), and possibly have unspecified other impact by specifying
a node that is not part of the kernel's node set.
2) Solution or Work-Around
There is no known workaround, please install the update packages.
3) Special Instructions and Notes
Please reboot the machine after installing the update.
4) Package Location and Checksums
The preferred method for installing security updates is to use the YaST
Online Update (YOU) tool. YOU detects which updates are required and
automatically performs the necessary steps to verify and install them.
Alternatively, download the update packages for your distribution manually
and verify their integrity by the methods listed in Section 6 of this
announcement. Then install the packages using the command
rpm -Fhv <file.rpm>
to apply the update, replacing <file.rpm> with the filename of the
downloaded RPM package.

SUSE update packages are available on many mirror FTP servers all over the
world. While this service is considered valuable and important to the free
and open source software community, the authenticity and the integrity of
a package needs to be verified to ensure that it has not been tampered
with.
To subscribe, send an e-mail to
<opensuse-security+subscribe(a)opensuse.org>.
opensuse-security-announce(a)opensuse.org
- SUSE's announce-only mailing list.
Only SUSE's security announcements are sent to this list.
To subscribe, send an e-mail to
<opensuse-security-announce+subscribe(a)opensuse.org>.

Hi,
We seem to have not yet officially announced this, so here it is...
Since November 2008 we are providing official CVE cross reference HTML
pages on our website.
Under the URL:
http://support.novell.com/security/cve/
you can find all CVEs indexed where we have either released updates
already, have updates in QA or have published a statement on a
specific CVE.
If you have questions regarding specific CVE numbers please feel free
to contact Novell Support or to mail security(a)suse.de
We are also currently working on is getting OVAL information published
officially ( currently below http://www.suse.de/~meissner/oval )
OVAL is the XML representation of "CVE X fixed by RPM version-release
A-B for product P" data, further reading: http://oval.mitre.org
Ciao, Marcus

______________________________________________________________________________
1) Problem Description and Brief Discussion
Mozilla Firefox was upgraded to version 3.5.8, fixing various bugs and security issues.
On openSUSE 11.0 and 11.1 Mozilla Firefox was updated to version 3.0.18.
On openSUSE 11.2 Mozilla Seamonkey was updated to version 2.0.2.
Following security issues have been fixed:
MFSA 2010-01 / CVE-2010-0159: Mozilla developers identified and fixed several stability bugs in the browser
engine used in Firefox and other Mozilla-based products. Some of these crashes
showed evidence of memory corruption under certain circumstances and we presume
that with enough effort at least some of these could be exploited to run
arbitrary code.
MFSA 2010-02 / CVE-2010-0160: Security researcher Orlando Barrera II reported
via TippingPoint's Zero Day Initiative that Mozilla's implementation of Web
Workers contained an error in its handling of array data types when processing
posted messages. This error could be used by an attacker to corrupt heap memory
and crash the browser, potentially running arbitrary code on a victim's
computer.
MFSA 2010-03 / CVE-2009-1571: Security researcher Alin Rad Pop of Secunia
Research reported that the HTML parser incorrectly freed used memory when
insufficient space was available to process remaining input. Under such
circumstances, memory occupied by in-use objects was freed and could later be
filled with attacker-controlled text. These conditions could result in the
execution or arbitrary code if methods on the freed objects were subsequently
called.
MFSA 2010-04 / CVE-2009-3988: Security researcher Hidetake Jo of Microsoft
Vulnerability Research reported that the properties set on an object passed to
showModalDialog were readable by the document contained in the dialog, even
when the document was from a different domain. This is a violation of the
same-origin policy and could result in a website running untrusted JavaScript
if it assumed the dialogArguments could not be initialized by another site.
An anonymous security researcher, via TippingPoint's Zero Day Initiative, also
independently reported this issue to Mozilla.
MFSA 2010-05 / CVE-2010-0162: Mozilla security researcher Georgi Guninski
reported that when a SVG document which is served with Content-Type:
application/octet-stream is embedded into another document via an <embed> tag
with type="image/svg+xml", the Content-Type is ignored and the SVG document is
processed normally. A website which allows arbitrary binary data to be uploaded
but which relies on Content-Type: application/octet-stream to prevent script
execution could have such protection bypassed. An attacker could upload a SVG
document containing JavaScript as a binary file to a website, embed the SVG
document into a malicious page on another site, and gain access to the script
environment from the SVG-serving site, bypassing the same-origin policy.
2) Solution or Work-Around
There is no known workaround, please install the update packages.
3) Special Instructions and Notes
Please restart the Mozilla browser after the update.
4) Package Location and Checksums
The preferred method for installing security updates is to use the YaST
Online Update (YOU) tool. YOU detects which updates are required and
automatically performs the necessary steps to verify and install them.
Alternatively, download the update packages for your distribution manually
and verify their integrity by the methods listed in Section 6 of this
announcement. Then install the packages using the command
rpm -Fhv <file.rpm>
to apply the update, replacing <file.rpm> with the filename of the
downloaded RPM package.

SUSE update packages are available on many mirror FTP servers all over the
world. While this service is considered valuable and important to the free
and open source software community, the authenticity and the integrity of
a package needs to be verified to ensure that it has not been tampered
with.
To subscribe, send an e-mail to
<opensuse-security+subscribe(a)opensuse.org>.
opensuse-security-announce(a)opensuse.org
- SUSE's announce-only mailing list.
Only SUSE's security announcements are sent to this list.
To subscribe, send an e-mail to
<opensuse-security-announce+subscribe(a)opensuse.org>.

1) Problem Description and Brief Discussion
The SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 and openSUSE 11.1 Kernel were updated to 2.6.27.45 fixing
various bugs and security issues.
CVE-2010-0622: The wake_futex_pi function in kernel/futex.c in the
Linux kernel before 2.6.33-rc7 does not properly handle certain unlock
operations for a Priority Inheritance (PI) futex, which allows local
users to cause a denial of service (OOPS) and possibly have unspecified
other impact via vectors involving modification of the futex value from
user space.
CVE-2010-0410: Users could send/allocate arbitrary amounts of
NETLINK_CONNECTOR messages to the kernel, causing OOM condition, killing
selected processes or halting the system.
CVE-2010-0415: The do_pages_move function in mm/migrate.c in the Linux
kernel before 2.6.33-rc7 does not validate node values, which allows
local users to read arbitrary kernel memory locations, cause a denial of
service (OOPS), and possibly have unspecified other impact by specifying
a node that is not part of the kernels node set.
CVE-2010-0007: net/bridge/netfilter/ebtables.c in the ebtables module in
the netfilter framework in the Linux kernel before 2.6.33-rc4 does not
require the CAP_NET_ADMIN capability for setting or modifying rules, which
allows local users to bypass intended access restrictions and configure
arbitrary network-traffic filtering via a modified ebtables application.
CVE-2009-4536: drivers/net/e1000/e1000_main.c in the e1000 driver in the
Linux kernel 2.6.32.3 and earlier handles Ethernet frames that exceed
the MTU by processing certain trailing payload data as if it were a
complete frame, which allows remote attackers to bypass packet filters
via a large packet with a crafted payload.
CVE-2009-4538: drivers/net/e1000e/netdev.c in the e1000e driver in the
Linux kernel 2.6.32.3 and earlier does not properly check the size of
an Ethernet frame that exceeds the MTU, which allows remote attackers
to have an unspecified impact via crafted packets.
It is not clear if this can be used for code execution.
CVE-2010-0003: The print_fatal_signal function in kernel/signal.c
in the Linux kernel before 2.6.32.4 on the i386 platform, when
print-fatal-signals is enabled, allows local users to discover the
contents of arbitrary memory locations by jumping to an address and
then reading a log file, and might allow local users to cause a denial
of service (system slowdown or crash) by jumping to an address.
CVE-2009-3939: The poll_mode_io file for the megaraid_sas driver in the
Linux kernel 2.6.31.6 and earlier has world-writable permissions, which
allows local users to change the I/O mode of the driver by modifying
this file.
2) Solution or Work-Around
There is no known workaround, please install the update packages.
3) Special Instructions and Notes
Please reboot the machine after installing the update.
4) Package Location and Checksums
The preferred method for installing security updates is to use the YaST
Online Update (YOU) tool. YOU detects which updates are required and
automatically performs the necessary steps to verify and install them.
Alternatively, download the update packages for your distribution manually
and verify their integrity by the methods listed in Section 6 of this
announcement. Then install the packages using the command
rpm -Fhv <file.rpm>
to apply the update, replacing <file.rpm> with the filename of the
downloaded RPM package.

SUSE update packages are available on many mirror FTP servers all over the
world. While this service is considered valuable and important to the free
and open source software community, the authenticity and the integrity of
a package needs to be verified to ensure that it has not been tampered
with.
To subscribe, send an e-mail to
<opensuse-security+subscribe(a)opensuse.org>.
opensuse-security-announce(a)opensuse.org
- SUSE's announce-only mailing list.
Only SUSE's security announcements are sent to this list.
To subscribe, send an e-mail to
<opensuse-security-announce+subscribe(a)opensuse.org>.
