______________________________________________________________________________
1) Problem Description and Brief Discussion
Specially crafted PDF files could crash acroread. Attackers could
potentially exploit that to execute arbitrary code (CVE-2009-3953,
CVE-2009-3954, CVE-2009-3955, CVE-2009-3956, CVE-2009-3957,
CVE-2009-3958, CVE-2009-3959, CVE-2009-4324).
Acrobat reader was updated to version 9.3 to fix the security issues.
Note: Due to integration issues with the major version update of
acroread on SLE10 updates for SLE10 are not ready yet. Fixed
packages will be submitted ASAP.
2) Solution or Work-Around
There is no known workaround, please install the update packages.
3) Special Instructions and Notes
Please close and restart all running instances of acroread after the update.
4) Package Location and Checksums
The preferred method for installing security updates is to use the YaST
Online Update (YOU) tool. YOU detects which updates are required and
automatically performs the necessary steps to verify and install them.
Alternatively, download the update packages for your distribution manually
and verify their integrity by the methods listed in Section 6 of this
announcement. Then install the packages using the command
rpm -Fhv <file.rpm>
to apply the update, replacing <file.rpm> with the filename of the
downloaded RPM package.

______________________________________________________________________________
5) Pending Vulnerabilities, Solutions, and Work-Arounds:
- transmission
Specially crafted torrent files could overwrite arbitrary files
(CVE-2010-0012).
Affected Products: openSUSE 11.0, 11.1, 11.2
- libopenssl-devel
Incorrect use of an openssl cleanup function can lead to memory
leaks in applications. For example an ssl enabled web server such as
apache that uses php, curl and openssl leaks memory if a SIGHUP
signal was sent to apache. The openssl cleanup function was made
more robust to avoid memory leaks (CVE-2009-4355).
Affected Products: SLE10-SP2, SLE10-SP3, SLE11, openSUSE 11.0, 11.1, 11.2
- gzip
Specially crafted gzip archives could lead to gzip allocating a too
small huffman table. Attackers could exploit that to crash gzip
(CVE-2009-2624).
Specially crafted gzip archives could trigger integer overflows.
Attackers could exploit that to crash gzip or potentially execute
arbitrary code (CVE-2010-0001). Only 64bit architectures are
affected by this flaw.
Affected Products: SLES9, SLE10-SP2, SLE10-SP3, SLE11, openSUSE 11.0, 11.1, 11.2
- bind
bind when configured for DNSSEC could incorrectly cache NXDOMAIN
responses (CVE-2010-0097). Moreover, the fix for CVE-2009-4022 was
incomplete. Despite the previous fix CNAME and DNAME responses could
be incorrectly cached (CVE-2010-0290).
Affected Products: SLE11, openSUSE 11.0, 11.1, 11.2
- viewvc
viewvc was updated to version 1.1.3 which fixes the following security problems:
- add root listing support of per-root authz config (CVE-2010-0004).
- query.py requires 'forbidden' authorizer (or none) in config (CVE-2010-0005).
Affected Products: openSUSE 11.2

6) Authenticity Verification and Additional Information
- Announcement authenticity verification:
SUSE security announcements are published via mailing lists and on Web
sites. The authenticity and integrity of a SUSE security announcement is
guaranteed by a cryptographic signature in each announcement. All SUSE
security announcements are published with a valid signature.
To verify the signature of the announcement, save it as text into a file
and run the command
gpg --verify <file>
replacing <file> with the name of the file where you saved the
announcement. The output for a valid signature looks like:
gpg: Signature made <DATE> using RSA key ID 3D25D3D9
gpg: Good signature from "SuSE Security Team <security(a)suse.de>"
where <DATE> is replaced by the date the document was signed.
If the security team's key is not contained in your key ring, you can
import it from the first installation CD. To import the key, use the
command
gpg --import gpg-pubkey-3d25d3d9-36e12d04.asc
- Package authenticity verification:
SUSE update packages are available on many mirror FTP servers all over the
world. While this service is considered valuable and important to the free
and open source software community, the authenticity and the integrity of
a package needs to be verified to ensure that it has not been tampered
with.
The internal rpm package signatures provide an easy way to verify the
authenticity of an RPM package. Use the command
rpm -v --checksig <file.rpm>
to verify the signature of the package, replacing <file.rpm> with the
filename of the RPM package downloaded. The package is unmodified if it
contains a valid signature from build(a)suse.de with the key ID 9C800ACA.
This key is automatically imported into the RPM database (on
RPMv4-based distributions) and the gpg key ring of 'root' during
installation. You can also find it on the first installation CD and at
the end of this announcement.
- SUSE runs two security mailing lists to which any interested party may
subscribe:
opensuse-security(a)opensuse.org
- General Linux and SUSE security discussion.
All SUSE security announcements are sent to this list.
To subscribe, send an e-mail to
<opensuse-security+subscribe(a)opensuse.org>.
opensuse-security-announce(a)opensuse.org
- SUSE's announce-only mailing list.
Only SUSE's security announcements are sent to this list.
To subscribe, send an e-mail to
<opensuse-security-announce+subscribe(a)opensuse.org>.

______________________________________________________________________________
1) Problem Description and Brief Discussion
This update fixes various bugs and some security issues in the SUSE Linux
Enterprise 10 SP 3 kernel.
Following security issues were fixed:
CVE-2009-4536: drivers/net/e1000/e1000_main.c in the e1000 driver in the
Linux kernel handles Ethernet frames that exceed the MTU by processing
certain trailing payload data as if it were a complete frame, which
allows remote attackers to bypass packet filters via a large packet with
a crafted payload.
CVE-2009-4538: drivers/net/e1000e/netdev.c in the e1000e driver in the
Linux kernel does not properly check the size of an Ethernet frame that
exceeds the MTU, which allows remote attackers to have an unspecified
impact via crafted packets.
CVE-2010-0007: Missing CAP_NET_ADMIN checks in the ebtables netfilter
code might have allowed local attackers to modify bridge firewall
settings.
2) Solution or Work-Around
There is no known workaround, please install the update packages.
3) Special Instructions and Notes
Please reboot the machine after installing the update.
4) Package Location and Checksums
The preferred method for installing security updates is to use the YaST

CVE-2009-3897, CVE-2009-3942, CVE-2009-4034
CVE-2009-4136, CVE-2009-4605, CVE-2010-0230
Content of this advisory:
1) Solved Security Vulnerabilities:
- expat
- postfix
- phpMyAdmin
- postgresql
- dovecot12
- msmtp
2) Pending Vulnerabilities, Solutions, and Work-Arounds:
none
3) Authenticity Verification and Additional Information
______________________________________________________________________________
1) Solved Security Vulnerabilities
To avoid flooding mailing lists with SUSE Security Announcements for minor
issues, SUSE Security releases weekly summary reports for the low profile
vulnerability fixes. The SUSE Security Summary Reports do not list or
download URLs like the SUSE Security Announcements that are released for
more severe vulnerabilities.
Fixed packages for the following incidents are already available on our FTP
server and via the YaST Online Update.
- expat
The previous expat security update (CVE-2009-3560) caused parse
errors with some xml documents.
Affected Products: SLES9, SLE10-SP2, SLE10-SP3, SLE11, openSUSE 11.0-11.2
- postfix
The post install script of postfix accidentally let postfix listen
on all network interfaces (CVE-2010-0230).
Affected Products: SLE10-SP3
- phpMyAdmin
The use of unserialize() on POST data which could have lead to
remote code execution (CVE-2009-4605) has been fixed as well as some
minor temporary file issues (CVE-2008-7251, CVE-2008-7252).
Affected Products: openSUSE 11.0
- postgresql
An unprivileged, authenticated PostgreSQL user could create a table
which references functions with malicious content. Maintenance
operations carried out be the database superuser could execute such
functions (CVE-2009-4136).
Embedded null bytes in the common name of SSL certificates could
bypass certificate hostname checks (CVE-2009-4034).
postgresql was updated to the next upstream patchlevel update which
also includes several bugfixes. See the package changelog for
details.
Affected Products: SLES9, SLE10-SP2, SLE10-SP3, SLE11, openSUSE 11.0-11.2
- dovecot12
Dovecot created the configured 'base_dir' (/var/run/dovecot) with
mode 0777 if it didn't exist, therefore allowing local users to mess
with e.g. the authentication socket (CVE-2009-3897).
Note that /var/run/dovecot is part of the dovecot rpm with proper
permission settings. Therefor dovecot is not vulnerable in the
default configuration as shipped on openSUSE.
Affected Products: openSUSE 11.2
- msmtp
msmtp did not properly handle a '\0' character in the domain name of
SSL certificates (CVE-2009-3942).
Affected Products: openSUSE 11.0-11.2

3) Authenticity Verification and Additional Information
- Announcement authenticity verification:
SUSE security announcements are published via mailing lists and on Web
sites. The authenticity and integrity of a SUSE security announcement is
guaranteed by a cryptographic signature in each announcement. All SUSE
security announcements are published with a valid signature.
To verify the signature of the announcement, save it as text into a file
and run the command
gpg --verify <file>
replacing <file> with the name of the file containing the announcement.
SUSE update packages are available on many mirror FTP servers all over the
world. While this service is considered valuable and important to the free
and open source software community, the authenticity and integrity of a
package needs to be verified to ensure that it has not been tampered with.
This key is automatically imported into the RPM database (on RPMv4-based
distributions) and the gpg key ring of 'root' during installation. You can
also find it on the first installation CD and included at the end of this
announcement.
- SUSE runs two security mailing lists to which any interested party may
subscribe:
opensuse-security(a)opensuse.org
- General Linux and SUSE security discussion.
All SUSE security announcements are sent to this list.
To subscribe, send an e-mail to
<opensuse-security+subscribe(a)opensuse.org>.
opensuse-security-announce(a)opensuse.org
- SUSE's announce-only mailing list.
Only SUSE's security announcements are sent to this list.
To subscribe, send an e-mail to
<opensuse-security-announce+subscribe(a)opensuse.org>.

6) Authenticity Verification and Additional Information
______________________________________________________________________________
1) Problem Description and Brief Discussion
Specially crafted AES and RC4 packets could allow unauthenticated
remote attackers to trigger an integer underflow that leads to heap memory
corruption (CVE-2009-4212). Remote attackers could potentially
exploit that to execute arbitrary code.
openSUSE 11.2 is also affected by the following problem:
Specially crafted ticket requests could crash the kerberos server
(CVE-2009-3295).
2) Solution or Work-Around
There is no known workaround, please install the update packages.
3) Special Instructions and Notes
Please close and restart all running instances of krb5 after the update.
4) Package Location and Checksums
The preferred method for installing security updates is to use the YaST
Online Update (YOU) tool. YOU detects which updates are required and
automatically performs the necessary steps to verify and install them.
Alternatively, download the update packages for your distribution manually
and verify their integrity by the methods listed in Section 6 of this
announcement. Then install the packages using the command
rpm -Fhv <file.rpm>
to apply the update, replacing <file.rpm> with the filename of the
downloaded RPM package.

- see SUSE Security Summary report
______________________________________________________________________________

1) Problem Description and Brief Discussion
The SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 and openSUSE 11.1 Kernel was updated to
2.6.27.42 fixing various bugs and security issues.
Following security issues were fixed:
CVE-2009-4536: A underflow in the e1000 jumbo Ethernet frame handling
could be use by link-local remote attackers to crash the machine,
bypass firewalls or potentially execute code in kernel context.
This requires the attacker to be able to send Jumbo Frames to the
target machine.
CVE-2009-4538: A underflow in the e1000e jumbo Ethernet frame handling
could be use by link-local remote attackers to crash the machine, bypass
firewalling or potentially execute code in kernel context.
This requires the attacker to be able to send Jumbo Frames to the
target machine.
CVE-2009-4138: drivers/firewire/ohci.c in the Linux kernel, when
packet-per-buffer mode is used, allows local users to cause a denial
of service (NULL pointer dereference and system crash) or possibly
have unknown other impact via an unspecified ioctl associated with
receiving an ISO packet that contains zero in the payload-length field.
CVE-2009-4307: The ext4_fill_flex_info function in fs/ext4/super.c
in the Linux kernel allows user-assisted remote attackers to cause
a denial of service (divide-by-zero error and panic) via a malformed
ext4 filesystem containing a super block with a large FLEX_BG group
size (aka s_log_groups_per_flex value).
CVE-2009-4308: The ext4_decode_error function in fs/ext4/super.c
in the ext4 filesystem in the Linux kernel before 2.6.32 allows
user-assisted remote attackers to cause a denial of service (NULL
pointer dereference), and possibly have unspecified other impact,
via a crafted read-only filesystem that lacks a journal.
CVE-2009-3939: The poll_mode_io file for the megaraid_sas driver in
the Linux kernel has world-writable permissions, which allows local
users to change the I/O mode of the driver by modifying this file.
CVE-2009-4005: The collect_rx_frame function in
drivers/isdn/hisax/hfc_usb.c in the Linux kernel allows attackers
to have an unspecified impact via a crafted HDLC packet that arrives
over ISDN and triggers a buffer under-read.
CVE-2009-3080: A negative offset in a ioctl in the GDTH RAID driver
was fixed.
CVE-2009-4020: Stack-based buffer overflow in the hfs subsystem in the
Linux kernel allows remote attackers to have an unspecified impact
via a crafted Hierarchical File System (HFS) filesystem, related to
the hfs_readdir function in fs/hfs/dir.c.
For a complete list of changes, please look at the RPM changelog.
2) Solution or Work-Around
There is no known workaround, please install the update packages.
3) Special Instructions and Notes
Please reboot the machine after installing the update.
4) Package Location and Checksums
The preferred method for installing security updates is to use the YaST
Online Update (YOU) tool. YOU detects which updates are required and
automatically performs the necessary steps to verify and install them.
Alternatively, download the update packages for your distribution manually
and verify their integrity by the methods listed in Section 6 of this
announcement. Then install the packages using the command
rpm -Fhv <file.rpm>
to apply the update, replacing <file.rpm> with the filename of the
downloaded RPM package.

5) Pending Vulnerabilities, Solutions, and Work-Arounds:
- Next kernel updates
We will also release updates for SLES 10 SP3, SP2, SLES 9 and the
openSUSE products to fix the network driver remote flaws.
These will also be released in January.
- r8169 driver issues
The r8169 driver also has problems with Jumbo frames. (CVE-2009-4537)
Unfortunately the problem is not fully understood yet and a patch
is still being worked on.
This issues will be fixed in a later update.

1) Problem Description and Brief Discussion
IBM Java 6 was updated to Service Refresh 7.
The following security issues were fixed:
CVE-2009-3876
CVE-2009-3877: A vulnerability in the Java Runtime Environment with
decoding DER encoded data might allow a remote client to cause the
JRE to crash, resulting in a denial of service condition.
CVE-2009-3867: A buffer overflow vulnerability in the Java Runtime
Environment audio system might allow an untrusted applet or Java Web
Start application to escalate privileges. For example, an untrusted
applet might grant itself permissions to read and write local files,
or run local applications that are accessible to the user running
the untrusted applet.
CVE-2009-3868: A buffer overflow vulnerability in the Java Runtime
Environment with parsing image files might allow an untrusted applet
or Java Web Start application to escalate privileges. For example,
an untrusted applet might grant itself permissions to read and write
local files, or run local applications that are accessible to the
user running the untrusted applet.
CVE-2009-3872: An integer overflow vulnerability in the Java Runtime
Environment with reading JPEG files might allow an untrusted applet
or Java Web Start application to escalate privileges. For example,
an untrusted applet might grant itself permissions to read and write
local files, or run local applications that are accessible to the
user running the untrusted applet.
CVE-2009-3873: A buffer overflow vulnerability in the Java Runtime
Environment with processing JPEG files might allow an untrusted applet
or Java Web Start application to escalate privileges. For example,
an untrusted applet might grant itself permissions to read and write
local files, or run local applications that are accessible to the
user running the untrusted applet.
CVE-2009-3875: A security vulnerability in the Java Runtime
Environment with verifying HMAC digests might allow authentication to
be bypassed. This action can allow a user to forge a digital signature
that would be accepted as valid. Applications that validate HMAC-based
digital signatures might be vulnerable to this type of attack.
CVE-2009-3865: A command execution vulnerability in the Java Runtime
Environment Deployment Toolkit might be used to run arbitrary
code. This issue might occur as the result of a user of the Java
Runtime Environment viewing a specially crafted web page that exploits
this vulnerability.
CVE-2009-3869: A buffer overflow vulnerability in the Java Runtime
Environment with processing image files might allow an untrusted applet
or Java Web Start application to escalate privileges. For example,
an untrusted applet might grant itself permissions to read and write
local files or run local applications that are accessible to the user
running the untrusted applet.
CVE-2009-3871: A buffer overflow vulnerability in the Java Runtime
Environment with processing image files might allow an untrusted applet
or Java Web Start application to escalate privileges. For example,
an untrusted applet might grant itself permissions to read and write
local files or run local applications that are accessible to the user
running the untrusted applet.
CVE-2009-3866: A security vulnerability in the Java Web Start Installer
might be used to allow an untrusted Java Web Start application to
run as a trusted application and run arbitrary code. This issue might
occur as the result of a user of the Java Runtime Environment viewing
a specially crafted web page that exploits this vulnerability.
CVE-2009-3874: An integer overflow vulnerability in the Java Runtime
Environment with processing JPEG images might allow an untrusted applet
or Java Web Start application to escalate privileges. For example,
an untrusted applet might grant itself permissions to read and write
local files or run local applications that are accessible to the user
running the untrusted applet.
CVE-2009-0217: A vulnerability with verifying HMAC-based XML digital
signatures in the XML Digital Signature implementation included with
the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) might allow authentication to be
bypassed. Applications that validate HMAC-based XML digital signatures
might be vulnerable to this type of attack.
Note: This vulnerability cannot be exploited by an untrusted applet
or Java Web Start application.
2) Solution or Work-Around
There is no known workaround, please install the update packages.
3) Special Instructions and Notes
Please close and restart all running instances of IBM Java 6 applications after the update.
4) Package Location and Checksums
The preferred method for installing security updates is to use the YaST
Online Update (YOU) tool. YOU detects which updates are required and
automatically performs the necessary steps to verify and install them.
Alternatively, download the update packages for your distribution manually
and verify their integrity by the methods listed in Section 6 of this
announcement. Then install the packages using the command
rpm -Fhv <file.rpm>
to apply the update, replacing <file.rpm> with the filename of the
downloaded RPM package.
Our maintenance customers are notified individually. The packages are
offered for installation from the maintenance web:

IBM Java 1.4.2 was updated to 13 FP3.
The following security issues were fixed:
CVE-2009-3867: A buffer overflow vulnerability in the Java Runtime
Environment audio system might allow an untrusted applet or Java Web
Start application to escalate privileges. For example, an untrusted
applet might grant itself permissions to read and write local files,
or run local applications that are accessible to the user running
the untrusted applet.
2) Solution or Work-Around
There is no known workaround, please install the update packages.
3) Special Instructions and Notes
Please close and restart all running instances of IBM Java 1.4.2 after the update.

- apache2-mod_jk
Certain HTTP request could confuse the JK connector in Apache Tomcat
which could result in a user seeing responses destined for other users
(CVE-2008-5519).
Affected products: SLE11
- cacti
The package cacti was updated to fix four cross-site-scripting
vulnerabilities (CVE-2009-4032: CVSS v2 Base Score: 4.9) and one
privilege escalation bug (CVE-2009-4112).
Affected products: openSUSE 11.0
- cups
The cups web interface was prone to Cross-Site Scripting (XSS)
problems (CVE-2009-2820).
A use-after-free problem in cupsd allowed remote attackers to crash
the cups server (CVE-2009-3553).
Affected products: SLES9, SLE10-SP2, SLE10-SP3, OES, NLD,
openSUSE 11.0-11.2
- expat
Specially crafted XML documents could make expat run into an enless loop,
therefore locking up applications using expat
(CVE-2009-3720: CVSS v2 Base Score: 5.0).
Affected products: SLES9, NLD, OES, SLE10-SP2, SLE10-SP3, SLE11,
openSUSE 11.0-11.2
Note: This update may cause regressions in the XML parser which will be
solved by following update packages.
- finch/pidgin
This update of pidgin fixes the following issues:
- CVE-2009-3026: CVSS v2 Base Score: 5.0
Allowed to send confidential data unencrypted even if SSL was chosen by
user.
- CVE-2009-3025: CVSS v2 Base Score: 4.3
Remote denial of service in yahoo IM plug-in.
- CVE-2009-3083: CVSS v2 Base Score: 5.0
Remote denial of service in MSN plug-in.
- CVE-2009-3084: CVSS v2 Base Score: 5.0
Remote denial of service in MSN plug-in.
- CVE-2009-3085: CVSS v2 Base Score: 5.0
Remote denial of service in XMPP plug-in.
- CVE-2009-3615: CVSS v2 Base Score: 5.0
Remote denial of service in ICQ plug-in.
Affected products: SLE10-SP2, SLE10-SP3, SLE11, openSUSE 11.0-11.2
- htmldoc
Specially crafted files could cause a buffer overflow in htmldoc
(CVE-2009-3050).
Affected products: SLES9, SLE10-SP2, SLE10-SP3, SLE11, openSUSE 11.0-11.2
- kdelibs3/kdelibs4
KDE KDELibs Remote Array Overrun (Arbitrary code execution),
CVE-2009-0689
Affected products: SLES9, NLD, OES, SLE10-SP2, SLE10-SP3, SLE11,
openSUSE 11.0-11.2
- libpoppler/poppler
This update of poppler fixes several security issues:
- CVE-2009-0791: Fix multiple integer overflows in "pdftops" filter that
could be used by attackers to execute code.
- CVE-2009-3607: Integer overflow in the
create_surface_from_thumbnail_data
function in glib/poppler-page.cc in Poppler 0.x allows remote attackers
to cause a denial of service (memory corruption) or possibly execute
arbitrary code via a crafted PDF document that triggers a heap-based
buffer overflow. NOTE: some of these details are obtained from third
party information.
- CVE-2009-3608: Integer overflow in the ObjectStream::ObjectStream
function in XRef.cc in Xpdf 3.x before 3.02pl4 and Poppler before
0.12.1, as used in GPdf, kdegraphics KPDF, CUPS pdftops, and teTeX,
might allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted

3) Authenticity Verification and Additional Information
- Announcement authenticity verification:
SUSE security announcements are published via mailing lists and on Web
sites. The authenticity and integrity of a SUSE security announcement is
guaranteed by a cryptographic signature in each announcement. All SUSE
security announcements are published with a valid signature.
To verify the signature of the announcement, save it as text into a file
and run the command
gpg --verify <file>
replacing <file> with the name of the file containing the announcement.
SUSE update packages are available on many mirror FTP servers all over the
world. While this service is considered valuable and important to the free
and open source software community, the authenticity and integrity of a
package needs to be verified to ensure that it has not been tampered with.
This key is automatically imported into the RPM database (on RPMv4-based
distributions) and the gpg key ring of 'root' during installation. You can
also find it on the first installation CD and included at the end of this
announcement.
- SUSE runs two security mailing lists to which any interested party may
subscribe:

______________________________________________________________________________
1) Problem Description and Brief Discussion
IBM Java 5 was updated to Service Refresh 11. It fixes lots of bugs
and security issues.
This included a timezone update to 1.6.9s (with the latest Fiji change).
CVE-2009-3876 / CVE-2009-3877: A vulnerability in the Java Runtime
Environment with decoding DER encoded data might allow a remote client
to cause the JRE to crash, resulting in a denial of service condition.
CVE-2009-2493: The Java Runtime Environment includes the Java Web
Start technology that uses the Java Web Start ActiveX control to
launch Java Web Start in Internet Explorer. A security vulnerability
in the Active Template Library (ATL) in various releases of Microsoft
Visual Studio, which is used by the Java Web Start ActiveX control,
might allow the Java Web Start ActiveX control to be leveraged to
run arbitrary code. This might occur as the result of a user of the
Java Runtime Environment viewing a specially crafted web page that
exploits this vulnerability.
Please also see http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/jdk/alerts/
2) Solution or Work-Around
There is no known workaround, please install the update packages.
3) Special Instructions and Notes
Please close and restart all running instances of IBM Java after the update.

1) Problem Description and Brief Discussion
The Linux kernel for openSUSE 11.2 was updated to 2.6.31.8 fixing lots of
bugs and several security issues.
Following security issues were fixed:
CVE-2009-4131: A file overwrite issue on the ext4 filesystem could
be used by local attackers that have write access to a filesystem to
change/overwrite files of other users, including root.
CVSS v2 Base Score: 7.2 (AV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C)
CVE-2009-1298: A remote denial of service by sending overly long packets
could be used by remote attackers to crash a machine.
CVSS v2 Base Score: 7.8 (AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C)
CVE-2009-4026: The mac80211 subsystem in the Linux kernel allows remote
attackers to cause a denial of service (panic) via a crafted Delete Block
ACK (aka DELBA) packet, related to an erroneous "code shuffling patch."
CVSS v2 Base Score: 7.8 (AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C)
CVE-2009-4027: Race condition in the mac80211 subsystem in the Linux
kernel allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (system crash)
via a Delete Block ACK (aka DELBA) packet that triggers a certain state
change in the absence of an aggregation session.
CVSS v2 Base Score: 7.1 (AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C)
CVE-2009-3939: The poll_mode_io file for the megaraid_sas driver in the
Linux kernel has world-writable permissions, which allows local users
to change the I/O mode of the driver by modifying this file.
CVSS v2 Base Score: 6.6 (AV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:C/A:C)
CVE-2009-4005: The collect_rx_frame function in
drivers/isdn/hisax/hfc_usb.c in the Linux kernel allows attackers to
have an unspecified impact via a crafted HDLC packet that arrives over
ISDN and triggers a buffer under-read. This requires the attacker
to access the machine on ISDN protocol level.
CVSS v2 Base Score: 7.2 (AV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C)
CVE-2009-3080: Array index error in the gdth_read_event function in
drivers/scsi/gdth.c in the Linux kernel allows local users to cause a
denial of service or possibly gain privileges via a negative event index
in an IOCTL request.
CVSS v2 Base Score: 7.2 (AV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C)
CVE-2009-3624: The get_instantiation_keyring function in
security/keys/keyctl.c in the KEYS subsystem in the Linux kernel does not
properly maintain the reference count of a keyring, which allows local
users to gain privileges or cause a denial of service (OOPS) via vectors
involving calls to this function without specifying a keyring by ID,
as demonstrated by a series of keyctl request2 and keyctl list commands.
CVSS v2 Base Score: 4.6 (AV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P)
CVE-2009-4021: The fuse_direct_io function in fs/fuse/file.c in the fuse
subsystem in the Linux kernel might allow attackers to cause a denial
of service (invalid pointer dereference and OOPS) via vectors possibly
related to a memory-consumption attack.
CVSS v2 Base Score: 4.9 (AV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C)
CVE-2009-3547: Multiple race conditions in fs/pipe.c in the Linux kernel
allow local users to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference
and system crash) or gain privileges by attempting to open an anonymous
pipe via a /proc/*/fd/ pathname. As openSUSE 11.2 by default sets mmap_min_addr
protection, this issue will just Oops the kernel and not be able
to execute code.
CVSS v2 Base Score: 6.9 (AV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C)
CVE-2009-3621: net/unix/af_unix.c in the Linux kernel allows local
users to cause a denial of service (system hang) by creating an
abstract-namespace AF_UNIX listening socket, performing a shutdown
operation on this socket, and then performing a series of connect
operations to this socket.
CVSS v2 Base Score: 4.9 (AV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C)
CVE-2009-4138: drivers/firewire/ohci.c in the Linux kernel when
packet-per-buffer mode is used, allows local users to cause a denial
of service (NULL pointer dereference and system crash) or possibly have
unknown other impact via an unspecified ioctl associated with receiving
an ISO packet that contains zero in the payload-length field.
CVSS v2 Base Score: 4.7 (AV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C)
CVE-2009-4308: The ext4_decode_error function in fs/ext4/super.c in the
ext4 filesystem in the Linux kernel allows user-assisted remote attackers
to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference), and possibly
have unspecified other impact, via a crafted read-only filesystem that
lacks a journal.
CVSS v2 Base Score: 7.1 (AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C)
CVE-2009-4307: The ext4_fill_flex_info function in fs/ext4/super.c
in the Linux kernel allows user-assisted remote attackers to cause a
denial of service (divide-by-zero error and panic) via a malformed ext4
filesystem containing a super block with a large FLEX_BG group size
(aka s_log_groups_per_flex value).
CVSS v2 Base Score: 7.1 (AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C)
CVE-2009-4306: Unspecified vulnerability in the EXT4_IOC_MOVE_EXT
(aka move extents) ioctl implementation in the ext4 filesystem in
the Linux kernel allows local users to cause a denial of service
(filesystem corruption) via unknown vectors, a different vulnerability
than CVE-2009-4131.
CVSS v2 Base Score: 4.9 (AV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C)
CVE-2009-4131: The EXT4_IOC_MOVE_EXT (aka move extents) ioctl
implementation in the ext4 filesystem in the Linux kernel allows local
users to overwrite arbitrary files via a crafted request, related to
insufficient checks for file permissions. This can lead to privilege
escalations.
CVSS v2 Base Score: 7.2 (AV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C)
Also, the rt2870 and rt2860 drivers were refreshed to the level they
are in the Linux 2.6.32 kernel, bringing new device support and new
functionality.
2) Solution or Work-Around
There is no known workaround, please install the update packages.
3) Special Instructions and Notes
Please reboot the machine after installing the update.
4) Package Location and Checksums
The preferred method for installing security updates is to use the YaST
Online Update (YOU) tool. YOU detects which updates are required and
automatically performs the necessary steps to verify and install them.
Alternatively, download the update packages for your distribution manually
and verify their integrity by the methods listed in Section 6 of this
announcement. Then install the packages using the command
rpm -Fhv <file.rpm>
to apply the update, replacing <file.rpm> with the filename of the
downloaded RPM package.

5) Pending Vulnerabilities, Solutions, and Work-Arounds:
See SUSE Security Summary Report.
