Curious C++ segmentation fault

Can anyone suggest for me reasons why the first of these two fragments might produce a segmentation fault while the second works fine? ssc::RunSet has only one constructor, which takes no parameters. ++ #include"Executive.h" void ssc::Executive( int argc, const char* args[] ){ ... ssc::RunSet runset; /* FAILS HERE */ runset.run(); } ++ #include"Executive.h" void ssc::Executive( int argc, const char* args[] ){ ... ssc::RunSet* runset = new ssc::RunSet(); runset->run(); delete runset; } ++ -- JDL Non enim propter gloriam, diuicias aut honores pugnamus set propter libertatem solummodo quam Nemo bonus nisi simul cum vita amittit.

New gcc 3.3.1 packages released

I've uploaded new gcc 3.3.1 packages that incorporate a number of bug fixes. These new 3.3.1-16 packages have replaced the previous 3.3.1-0 ones in ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/gcc/8.2 . can't display emacs..?

hi, guys, I can't open emacs as a root. When I tried, I got the following message, linux:/home/shin0135/03fall/cs5551_uid/pro1 # emacs memo3.c & [1] 2925 linux:/home/shin0135/03fall/cs5551_uid/pro1 # Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server Xlib: Invalid XDM-AUTHORIZATION-1 key (failed key comparison) emacs: Cannot connect to X server :0.0. Check the DISPLAY environment variable or use `-d'. Also use the `xhost' program to verify that it is set to permit connections from your machine. wha can I do to fix this ..? Question about installing c_cpp_reference-1.0

I am trying to install the c_cpp_reference-1.0 package. I put the tar file in: linux:/home/mydir as c_cpp_reference-1.0.tar.gz I extracted the file with "tar xvzf c_cpp_reference-1.0.tar.gz" so far all o.k. Went to the newly created directory "cd c_cpp_reference-1.0" made the package ready for installtion: "./configure;make" Then comes the problem at the end of configure: error: Qt (>= 1.42 and < 2.0) (headers and libraries) not found. Please check your installation! I was logged in as ROOT (and rather new to Linux!) what did I wrong? (and how to correct it?) Thanks so far to all of you. Henk Jansen

javac command not found...still need your help..

Hello, again.. Well, I think, I installed two different versions of j2sdk to compile .java file. hi, I know JAVA is installed on my machine...Yes, i just installed SuSE 8.2 and i got the following info from the shell, shin0135@linux:~/03fall/cs4531_se/pro2> find /usr -name java -print /usr/lib/java find: /usr/lib/man-db: Permission denied /usr/lib/SunJava2-1.4.1/jre/bin/java /usr/share/java find: /usr/share/locale/pt: Permission denied /usr/include/gnu/java /usr/include/java here is the problem. I couldn't compile java program...yes, as i said in the title, it just gives, bash:javac:command not found. what should I do...? I'm a totally newbie....I'll appreciate your help... g++ library man pages

Environment: SuSE 8.2 Professional with gcc 3.3.1 I found HTML documentation for libstd++ but not man pages and nothing for ios. Are there man pages for g++ classes and function anywhere? TIA. Bob Pearson -- I am unique and special, just like everyone else.

hi all, I'm using SuSE 8.1. How to set up or to make linker lib -lXm -lXt -lX11 (automatically or manually)? Do I have to use yast2 or just ldconfig ? Thanks ___ oyq
