[opensuse-programming] [OT] PyQT users?

Are there any PyQT (Python wrapper for QT) users out there? I am considering it as a possible environment to develop a QT application, and am exploring current user's experiences. [opensuse-programming] MinGW cross compiling

I am happily using the MinGW compiler (in cross-mingw-gcc) to compile on openSUSE software (EXEs and DLLs) to run on Windows. I have two questions: 1. What is this package: mingw32-cross-gcc-c++ The problem is that the descriptions never tell which is the host and which is the target. It should be inferred from the package name, I guess. The OBS description implies that this is similar to cross-mingw-gcc. Perhaps it is 'just' a newer version of the compiler? cross-mingw-gcc provides 3.3.4, while mingw32-cross-gcc-c++ claims to provide 4.5.1. 2. I am hoping to use gettext() in software running on Linux and Windows. Since I use MinGW (cross-mingw-gcc), I was hoping that the libintl stuff would be present, like so much else of the GNU environment. But, I do not see it. [opensuse-programming] How do I get a shared library to build with an SONAME

Hi, I'm trying to package openCOLLADA shared libraries for linux, upstream don't build for linux only mac and windows. How does one build the soname into the libraries? Is there any reference to doing this somewhere? [opensuse-programming] Problem using Java Native Interface

Hi, I am trying to build a simple program using Java Native Interface, but trying to execute the Java program gives me an error. I am giving the program and the procedure that I have used here. Code: public class MyClass { public static native void hello(); public static void main (String args[]) { MyClass m=new MyClass(); m.hello(); } static { System.loadLibrary("MyClass"); } } Then, I have compiled this program file using the command javac MyClass.java. I have created another C program file named Hello.c, as given below: Code: #include "MyClass.h" #include <stdio.h> #include <jni.h> JNIEXPORT void JNICALL Java_MyClass_hello (JNIEnv *env, jclass jc) { printf("Hello World"); } Then, I have compiled this C program using the command: gcc Hello.c -fPIC -I /usr/lib64/jvm/java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0/include/linux/ -I /usr/lib64/jvm/java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0/include/ -shared -o libMyClass.so This compiled successfully without giving any errors. Now, I tried to run the program, using the command: java -cp . MyClass Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no MyClass in java.library.path at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadLibrary(ClassLoader.java:1681) at java.lang.Runtime.loadLibrary0(Runtime.java:840) at java.lang.System.loadLibrary(System.java:1047) at MyClass.<clinit>(MyClass.java:34) Could not find the main class: MyClass. Program will exit. As for the version of the compiler, and the Virtual Machine, java -version gives me the following information: java version "1.6.0_18" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.8.1) (suse-1.1.5-x86_64) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 14.0-b16, mixed mode) I would be grateful if someone on this list could help me on this. [opensuse-programming] line-oriented TCP protocol?

TCP is of course stream oriented. It does not have a concept of lines. Serial ports, of course, can be configured as stream, line, character, whatever. I have a function that I want to make work on either a serial or a TCP port. I want this to be line oriented. Of course, I know how to do this reading a character at a time and taking appropriate action. On the other hand: On the serial port I can arrange it so reads are satisfied when there is a whole line. That is, each read returns only when a whole line is available. My question: Is there some obscure TCP ioctl() that would let me get the same for TCP streams? I have looked, and I do not see anything in the standard Linux networking docs. I don't really expect that there is such a mode, but I thought I would ask around a bit before doing the character-at-a-time thing. [opensuse-programming] Absolute time of keystrokes in X on openSUSE 11.2

The X server has always had an issue with time stamps assigned to key presses: they are always relative to when the X server started. This makes it very difficult to compare when a key was pressed to some other event, even on the same PC. I am curious if there is some mechanism that has crept into X that resolves this situation. I know that network-based games have a problem with this because it is difficult to sequence key strokes generated on different systems. The closest I have seen it a hack that does a virtual key press in the X system, and syncs time using that. While it is an improvement, it still has the problems of X server and other delays. I ask on this list because perhaps there is some better way to derive this information using tools provided with openSUSE. If I could only ask the X server what the base time was it is using for these relative time stamps... I am wanting this for use in a vehicle that travels up to 120 km/h, and would like to relate key presses to locations. Time is how one does this. I currently have to make due with with the time when my app sees the key press - reading the clock at that time because the X timestamp is rather useless. I would prefer to know when the key press was first sensed by the system. I think the keyboard driver has this info, but X does not propagate it, instead supplying the relative time. Anyone know what I am talking about? (Reposted as the earlier got no response. I thought I would try again.
