Hi people,
next week we (SUSE together with openSUSE) will migrate our US based
openSUSE infrastructure from Provo to a new data center in Salt Lake
City. Luckily for you, no critical services are currently hosted in the
US, so having a lot of fun shouldn't be inhibited.
The only public services that you will notice outages for are:
- https://provo-mirror.opensuse.org => much unfortunately, due to an
oversight, this already went offline without prior notice - I expect to
recover it in 1-2 weeks
- https://mirrorcache-us.opensuse.org => should you have this configured
somewhere, please switch to any other MirrorCache instance in the
meanwhile [0]
Note that if you are a regular openSUSE distribution user, both of these
are not configured anywhere by default.
For impact on internal services I will follow up with the Heroes team.
Cheers,
Georg

Hi everyone,
due to an influx of abuse we reduced the Matrix federation with the
servers behind matrix.org for the time being. Due to the design of
Matrix it seems to be not possible to completely inhibit it, hence you
will notice "broken" behavior when trying to join openSUSE Matrix rooms
from a matrix.org account, or an account on other Matrix instances using
their hosted service.
We encourage you to instead use an opensuse.org account via
https://chat.opensuse.org/ or to join us on IRC.
This effort was tracked via https://progress.opensuse.org/issues/166865,
where more details are to be found.
We are furthermore discussing ways for better abuse mitigation.
Thanks,
Georg
Hello,
here are the minutes of today's meeting:

Participants: Bernhard, Christian, Emma, Georg, Knurpht
status reports:
- schedule for automatic updates changed to prevent overlaps in a
cluster + health check added
- zypper on Tumbleweed removes packages during automatic update if
download server has issues during repo-refresh
=> https://progress.opensuse.org/issues/167362
=> https://github.com/openSUSE/os-update/pull/21

branded EFI firmware, works for all VMs except for download.i.o.o
=> https://progress.opensuse.org/issues/167404
- ssh authorized_keys for root are now salt-managed, lots of historical
keys removed
- Matrix Draupnir bot hosted at openSUSE now => to switch over
- status.o.o sometimes forgets update events
- a debug VM of mailman would be good to analyze issues such as
https://progress.opensuse.org/issues/166466 better
- code.o.o git push broken
=> https://progress.opensuse.org/issues/165710
