With the announcement of the Spanish forums on forums.opensuse.org
this morning, we have new users trying to log in, and it looks like
there's an issue with the IdP authentication system - users are
reporting 504 Gateway Timeout errors (I'm able to reproduce this in an
Can someone take a look?
Digging into this a little more, it looks like there may be something
problematic in the database. Looking at what config diagnostics I can
and searching for answers, there's a reported fix for vBulletin 5 that
*might* work if it's not a database corruption issue - increasing the
execution time and the memory limit in config.php. (The recommended
values were 2880 and -1, respectively).
But when I go into the language manager and look at any language's
phrases, they all appear in Polish rather than the actual language
they should be (I checked English, the attempted Spanish import, and
French). A "rebuild all languages" might help, but I don't want to do
that until I know both (a) we have the xml files for all languages for
recovery, and (b) that we have a good backup of the database in case
things go really off the rails.
I'm trying to remember who it was who helped with the migration from
the Provo data center (Per, was it you?).
since $forever we use a rsync cron job to push data for gcc.opensuse.org
to it, essentially via:
% RSYNC_RSH='ssh -p2271' rsync -av --filter='dir-merge dontsync'
--delete-after ./ firstname.lastname@example.org:gcc.opensuse.org/
(from a machine within the SUSE engineering network). Since yesterday
night that doesn't work anymore:
% ssh -p2271 -v gcc(a)gate.opensuse.org
debug1: Connecting to gate.opensuse.org [2001:67c:2178:8::28] port 2271.
% ssh -p2271 -v -4 gcc(a)gate.opensuse.org
debug1: kex: server->client aes128-ctr hmac-sha1 none
debug1: kex: client->server aes128-ctr hmac-sha1 none
no hostkey alg
% # back to local shell here
With rsync (and forcing ipv4 to not run into the timeout) I also get the
"no hostkey alg" message, and no rsyncing done, of course.
So, was the VM behind port 2271 somehow changed? Anything I need to do
here to get back in?
We're attempting to import translations that have been put together
for the openSUSE forums in Spanish, but the import is hanging up; I
wonder if there are any logs available on the server that might help
diagnose why the imports are failing.
Please let me know. I made an attempt today (October 22) at 3:20 PM US PDT.
When I look at the phrases during the import, it seems to have
confused the Spanish phrases with the Polish phrases.
I'm attempting to do the Leap 15.3 upgrade, and I ran into a few issues:
First, there were some weird resolution stuff, which I just said to
keep all obsolete packages:

Are there some extra steps I'm missing to fix this?
Thanks in advance!

here are the minutes of today's heroes meeting:
- several reports in https://progress.opensuse.org/issues/98274
- code.o.o will be updated to Leap 15.3 on the weekend
- new VM meet-test.o.o
- salted setup for borgpackup is WIP
- code-ci.i.o.o (jenkins) setup is WIP
handling the list of openSUSE Members:
- use CSV file, database, or add fields to the IDP (account system)?
- delegating access/admin permissions (to the membership officials) in
IDP needs some work (timeline unclear)
- moodle might also be an option (and allows to add custom fields)
- discuss and decide together with the membership officials (WIP)
- work in progress
- ask how much people like each of our services
- ask if someone wants to help
- suggestions for questions/answers welcome
