a ustedes las reglas de convivencia del munod electronico.

¿Que es la netiquette?
El surgimiento del correo electronico y otros servicios de Internet, este
nuevo modo de intercambio
entre personas, fue tambien el surgimiento de una nueva forma de
comunicarse. Esta forma nos impone
ciertas reglas de educacion a las que no estamos acostumbrados, pero que los
usuarios avezados de Internet
no se cansan de atender y corregir: la Netiquette.
Estas reglas no son caprichosas o elegidas al azar. Resultan del uso y
conocimiento de un tipo de
comunicacion y apuntan a hacer la misma lo mas agradable y util posible.
He aqui estas pocas reglas para la correcta convivencia en este mundo
virtual, que le haran mas facil la comunicacion.

La regla de oro de la netiquette
Recuerde que hay seres humanos del otro lado del monitor.
La regla de oro de Internet es simple, y se parece a una regla que
aprendemos de chicos: No hacerle a los demas los que no nos gustaria que nos
hicieran a nosotros. Imaginese como se sentiria si estuviera
del otro lado. Defienda su postura, pero trate de no herir los sentimientos
de los demas.
En el ciberespacio, esto lo definimos aun más sencillamente: recuerde al
ser humano del otro lado de Internet.
Cuando usted se comunica electronicamente, todo lo que se ve es una pantalla
de computadora. No se tiene la oportunidad de usar expresiones faciales, ni
gestos, ni tonos de voz para expresar sus opiniones, lo unico que
tiene son palabras, palabras escritas. Y lo mismo le pasa al que esta del
otro lado.
Cuando se mantiene una conversación electronica, ya sea un email o una
discusion en un grupo, es facil malinterpretar los significados. Y es
terriblemente facil olvidar que del otro lado hay una persona que tiene
sentimientos como uno.
En realidad es ironico, las computadoras reunen a personas que de otro modo
jamas se hubieran conocido, pero la impersonalidad del medio vuelve a este
proceso algo menos...personal.
Muchos humanos intercambiando email se comportan como la gente detras de un
volante de un auto: insultan a otras personas, hacen gestos obscenos y se
comportan como salvajes. La mayoria jamas se comportaria de esa
forma en su casa, pero la interposicion de una maquina parece hacerlo
aceptable...
Segun la netiquette eso no es aceptable.
Si, use la red para expresarse libremente, explorar nuevos mundos e ir
impulsivamente a donde jamas habria ido.
Pero recuerde la primera regla de la etiqueta: hay gente real del otro lado.
Preguntese a si mismo "Yo me atreveria a decirle esto personalmente?".
Si la respuesta es no, vuelva a releer y reescribir su mensaje.

E-mail
Si esta escribiendo a una persona desconocida que vive en un pais de lengua
diferente al español, utilice en lo posible el idioma ingles.
Cuando tenga dudas o problemas con un determinado Host, existe una persona a
la que puede consultar: el postmaster.
El postmaster es el Administrador de una o varias computadoras de Internet.
Para enviar un mail al postmaster, hagalo a postmaster(a)computadora.dominio.
Por favor: cuando envie mensajes al postmaster, sea amable,
breve y tenga paciencia. El postmaster suele estar muy ocupado y la
respuesta puede tardar varios dias.
No usar mayusculas. En los mails, esto equivale a GRITAR!
Trate de no escribir lineas que contengan mas de 80 caracteres, o algunas
personas que usan otros programas pueden tener problemas para leerlas.
En lo posible no use caracteres ASCII mayores a 127. Es decir, no use
acentos, ni enies, ni simbolos raros que no estan directamente en el
teclado, ya que en el camino que recorre su mensaje pueden ser mal
"traducidos" por otra computadora y transformarse en otro tipo de simbolos.
Evitar quoteos (citas del mensaje original) innecesarios.
Utilice juiciosamente la linea de tema (subject) y hagale la vida un poco
mas facil a su receptor.
Una linea corta y concreta permite ubicar rapidamente el mail correcto en
una larga lista.

Mailing lists
Para subscribirse y anular una suscripcion a una lista de interes, no envie
un mensaje a la direccion de la lista, sino a la direccion administrativa de
la lista, de lo contrario, su solicitud llegara a todos los miembros,
pudiendo causar molestias (piense que los mensajes a las listas son
multiplicados tantas veces como personas inscriptas hay en la misma,
causando un aumento totalmente innecesario de trafico en la Red).
Algunas listas estan moderadas, es decir, existe una persona que lee cada
mensaje destinado a la lista y decide si lo deja pasar o no. Antes de
escribir, obtenga en lo posible las reglas de moderacion de la lista, y
evite inconvenientes.
Cada lista posee una FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions, preguntas mas
frecuentes), que contiene una descripcion de los temas a tratar en la lista
y sus respuestas mas frecuentes. Es una buena idea leer la FAQ antes de
escribir.
Leer durante varios dias una lista antes de escribir por primera vez.
Enviar mensajes siempre dentro del tema que trata la lista.
Si desea responder a un mensaje, pero se trata de un respuesta privada,
enviele un e-mail al destinatario en lugar de a la lista completa.
Algunas listas son Read-Only (solo lectura), por ejemplo las de publicidad
de ciertas empresas o las de personas famosas como por ejemplo Stephen
Hawkins. Esto quiere decir que Ud. solo podra leer los mensajes que lleguen,
pero no escribir.
Las firmas no deben sobrepasar las 4 lineas de longitud.
Evitar quoteos (citas del mensaje original) innecesarios.

News
Respetar la tematica del newsgroup. Fijarse bien si el mensaje corresponde
al tema tratado, o a alguna ramificacion del tema para el cual no haya otro
grupo mas acertado.
Cada newsgroup posee una FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions), que contiene una
descripcion de los temas a tratar en el area y sus respuestas mas
frecuentes. Es una buena idea leer la FAQ antes de escribir.
Respetar el idioma oficial del newsgroup.
En la medida de lo posible, responder los mensajes via e-mail si la
respuesta fuera de indole privada.
No usar mayusculas. En los newsgroups, esto equivale a GRITAR!
Leer durante varios dias un newsgroups antes de escribir por primera vez.
Evitar quoteos (citas del mensaje original) innecesarios.
Mantener el subject (tema) del mensaje de acuerdo al contenido. Si hubo un
giro en el tema, cambiar el subject.
Las firmas no deben sobrepasar las 4 lineas de longitud.
Supongamos que Ud. desea postear (pegar, poner) un mensaje sobre la pesca
indiscriminada de un determinado pez en el Brasil. Su mensaje podra ir tanto
en el news sobre acuarios, como en el de ecologia, como en el de politica de
Brasil. Si usted desea poner un mensaje en varias areas de news a la vez,
puede hacerlo.
Este proceso se llama Cross Posting . Sin embargo, no es recomendable hacer
Cross Posting muy seguido, ni en mas de 3 o 4 grupos.
Trate de no escribir laneas que contengan mas de 80 caracteres, o algunas
personas que usen otros programas podrian tener problemas para leerlas.
En lo posible no use caracteres ASCII mayores a 127. Es decir, no use
acentos, ni eniess, ni simbolos raros que no esten directamente en el
teclado, ya que en el camino que recorre su mensaje pueden ser mal
"traducidos" por otra computadora y transformarse en otro tipo de simbolos.
No enviar datos privados (como la direccion) en un area de news, salvo que
fuera necesaria su difusion.

Telnet
Trate de conectarse a las computadoras publicas fuera de horario comercial
(esto es, comercial en el pais adonde usted esta llamando). Recuerde que hay
otras personas tratando de utilizar los mismos recursos a la vez. Sea lo mas
breve posible en su "visita".
Respete la politica del Administrador del Server, que en general se muestra
al conectarse con la computadora. Muchos lugares advierten que todas las
operaciones que Ud. haga quedaran guardadas en el registro (log) en el
server.

FTP
Respete la politica del Administrador del Server, que en general se muestra

Respetar los horarios de FTP. En general, los horarios adecuados son fuera
del horario comercial de la zona donde desee hacer su pedido. Si debiera
hacerlo en horario comercial, sea lo mas breve posible. En el mensaje de
bienvenida al host en general se detallan los horarios "educados" de visita.
Si hace FTP anonimo, ingrese como clave de la cuenta Anonymous su direccion
de Internet. Esto le permitira al administrador de host saber desde donde
esta llamado, y llevar estadisticas de accesos. Algunos hosts analizaran
su direccion, y si determinan que no es una direccion valida, pueden negarle
el acceso a ciertos directorios.
Si quiere dejar un archivo, no los almacene en la computadora remota, a
menos que se lo soliciten.
La mayoria tiene un directorio llamado incoming o similar, donde usted puede
dejar lo que desee.

WWW
Planificar las visitas a las paginas para evitar "bajar" dos veces la misma
informacion.
Tratar de ingresar al sitio fuera del horario comercial de la zona del
servidor.
----
Archie
Una vez que Archie encontro para usted el lugar donde se encuentra el
archivo, probablemente ofrezca varios hosts como resultado. Elija de estos
el mas cercano a su casa, para minimizar el acceso a la red y aumentar la
velocidad de transferencia.
Si el sistema Archie responde muy lento, pruebe a usarlo fuera de horario
comercial. Algunos Archie funcionan al publico solo de noche.
Trate de reducir las busquedas todo lo posible, para que otros usuarios
puedan hacer tambien uso del sistema.

Las reglas del correcto "quote" (citar)
El arte del quote
Los quotes (citas) son fragmentos del mensaje al que se esta¡ respondiendo,
que se incluyen en la respuesta a modo de referencia, para que el
destinatario sepa de que le estamos hablando.
Generalmente, los quotes se distinguen del resto del mensaje, porque las
lineas quoteadas estan encabezadas por el caracter " >" o el ":", y a veces
las iniciales de la persona que escribii³ el texto quoteado (esto puede no
suceder).
Por ejemplo:
AG> "Esta linea es un quote."
Lo que se puede (y debe) quotear
Se deben quotear aquellas partes del mensaje necesarias para que el
destinatario comprenda a que nos referimos, y omitiendo toda informacion
superflua (firmas, fecha, comentarios).
Piense que un mensaje de respuesta sin quotes, puede ser totalmente
incomprensible para el destinatario, especialmente si uno recibe mucha
correspondencia.
Lo que nunca se debe quotear
No se debe quotear:
Saludos en el inicio o al final de los mensajes.
Las cabeceras automaticas (FROM, TO, etc.), la fecha del mensaje, la
informacion de ruteo.
Firmas.
Nada que no sea directamente relevante al texto de la respuesta.
Un caso especialmente usual es quotear un mensaje completo solo para agregar
"Estoy de acuerdo con vos".
Esto genera una gran cantidad de trafico sin sentido.
En un caso asi se pueden dejar las primeras y ultimas lineas dejando claro
el sentido e indicando con puntos suspensivos que habia mas en el medio.
Por ejemplo:
> Respetar la netiquette es importante porque si no lo hacemos
> ...
> y eso resultaria en volver inutil la comunicacion por la red.
Adhiero completamente a la opinion.
Dejando las cosas claras
Se debe dejar al menos un espacio de una linea en blanco, entre los parrafos
quoteados y las respuestas, para poder leer claramente el mensaje. Si todo
esta muy junto la lectura, y por lo tanto la comprension del mensaje, puede
ser dificultosa.
En general, se debe hacer un uso racional de los espacios, para que la
lectura del mensaje sea lo mas clara posible.

Como ven, las reglas son muy sencillas y resumidas son:
Recuerde que se esta comunicando con seres humanos. Piense en ellos igual
que en Usted.
Recuerde que la red dispone de recursos limitados. Esos recursos estan para
ser utilizados por todos.
Entonces, cuidemoslos entre todos y hagamos un uso racional de los mismos
para que sigan sirviendo.
Esperamos que estas reglas nos ayuden a todos a convivir mejor.
