There are quite a lot of typos and grammar errors or just wrong translations. I maintain the translation of KNetworkmanager branch in the KDE svn, so I merged this older translation to the SUSE template and proof read the remaining strings of SUSE's translation. My new translation should be at least better than the current one. Some problems or awkward translations I noted in many recent SUSE translations: 1. The use of the first person for almost every phrase - present participle, infinitive constructions and commands ("Benutze", "Lade" "Kopiere" etc.) Some sound bad, others are just wrong. The german translation guidelines of KDE, Gnome and Ubuntu definitvly say that first person constructions should never be used in translations. 2. At least KDE uses a space between a word and "..." (xyz wird geladen ...) because it is - although uncommon - the only correct version. I think we should use this correct version for all SUSE translations, but at least for the KDE related ones to avoid a mix of the two styles. Moin, ich hatte dieses Thema schon einmal im letzten Sommer angeschnitten, möchte aber an dieser Stelle noch einmal darauf zurückkommen: Bislang haben wir keinen eigenen stilistischen Leitfaden für unsere Übersetzungen erarbeitet. Das sollten wir im Anschluss an das 11.1-Release unbedingt tun. Bis dahin, gehe ich davon aus, dass neben der obligatorischen (neuen) deutschen Rechtschreibung und Grammatik die Standards gelten, die für die breite Masse der Software-Projekte (Windows, KDE, Gnom, Ubuntu) gelten. Beim Korrekturlesen der letzten Woche fallen mir die folgenden Punkte immer wieder auf: 1. Es wird immer wieder krampfhaft die "erste Person" für Übersetzungen verwendet, sowohl für Verlaufsformen ("-ing"), aber auch für infinitivische Konstrukte: Adding XYZ --> FALSCH: Füge XYZ hinzu ---> RICHTIG: XY wird hinzugefügt Add XYZ --> FALSCH: Füge XYZ hinzu --> RICHTIG XYZ hinzufügen Show XYZ --> FALSCH: Zeige XYZ --> XYZ anzeigen Add XYZ --> FALSCH: Fügen Sie XYZ --> RICHTIG XYZ hinzufügen 2. Verwendung von Anglizismen: Wenn immer ein gebräuchliches, einfaches deutsches Wort zur Verfügung steht, sollte das auch verwendet werden: download --> herunterladen konfigurieren --> einrichten 3. Getrennt-/Zusammenschreibung: In der deutschen Sprache werden, anders als im Englischen Wörter, die aus mehreren Teilen zusammengesetzt sind, zusammen geschrieben. Wenn ein Bestandteil des Wortes eine Abkürzung (z.B. "KDE") oder ein nicht gebräuchliches Fremdwort (z.B. Repository") ist, wird ein Bindestrich gesetzt. Aber NIE ein Leerzeichen. FALSCH: KDE Anwendung --> RICHTIG: KDE-Anwendung FALSCH: pdf Dokument --> RICHTIG: pdf-Dokument FALSCH: Audio Wiedergabe --> RICHTIG: Audiowiedergabe oder Audio-Wiedergabe FALSCH: Finger Abdruck Leser --> RICHTIG: Fingerabdruckleser 4. Standardübersetzungen: Ganz generell sollten die gängigen Standardübersetzungen für die jeweiligen Ziel-Desktops verwendet werden. Ohne viel nachzuschauen, kann man die relativ gut erfassen, wenn man die aktuellen trunk-Übersetzungen von KDE oder Gnome in die Übersetzungsdatenbank von Lokalize lädt. 5. "Ihr", "Ihre" usw. im Sinne einer "Sie"-Form wird ebenfalls groß geschrieben! 6. Satzbau: Man sollte nicht sklavisch am englischen Satzbau kleben sondern freier Übersetzen. In zypper fällt mir folgendes z.B. immer wieder auf: JETZT: installieren sie nicht XYZ ---> KORREKT: XYZ nicht installieren JETZT: nichts bietet XYZ --> KORREKT: XYZ wird von keinem Repository angeboten ODER: Kein Repository enthält XYZ Ganz generell sollten Sätze mit einem Großbuchstaben beginnen. Selbst dann, wenn er im englischen Original fehlt. So, nun erstaml genug der Klugscheißerei ;-) Ich hoffe, ich bin niemandem auf die Füße getreten und habe zumindest ein paar Unklarheiten beseitigt.
