After browsing internet and found sames problem, I notice that the folder /usr/share/templates/.source was empty. I fill it with the content of "kde-baseapps-libkonq-15.12.60git.20160114T084704~c844731-42.1.x86_64"
(In reply to Jean-Claude Dole from comment #1) SOLVED As the directory was empty or missing, it is the complete directory "templates" ( in my case from kde-baseapps-libkonq-15.12.60git.20160114T084704~c844731-42.1.x86_64 ). I made a mistake by copying only "./source"
Should not be necessary. The required files are supposed to be in the kio package since months (October to be precise, a month before Leap has been released). But yes, I can reproduce the issue here in a up-to-date Leap VM. Hm. Btw, as a workaround you can also just copy over the KDE4 files from /usr/share/kde4/templates/ which should be there in a default installation. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Should not be necessary. The required files are supposed to be in the kio package since months (October to be precise, a month before Leap has been released).
From the kio 5.16.0 changelog: Ship the "new file templates" in the kiofilewidgets library using a .qrc (bug
Just to avoid a misunderstanding here: the files should not be necessary at all since KDE Frameworks 5.16.0 (available as update for Leap). They should be integrated in the corresponding library. 353642) But apparently something is not working as intended here. I'll have a look whether it's a packaging bug on our side or an upstream issue. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

What is interesting is this:
If you place a Quicklaunch on the desktop and right click to add a launcher the correct dialog appears
Yes, the problem is not in the dialog, the problem is that the files to copy cannot be found when using the "Create New" function. You can still just drag/drop an entry from the application menu to the folderview (or select "Add to Desktop" in the context menu), this *should* work.
Upstream really, REALLY needs to get this fixed.
Yes. Although I don't consider this as critical as you apparently do. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

The problem is with bash scripts, self-developed programs, etc. that are not on the menu. Making a link to them is critical. Yes, CRITICAL!!! :)
I didn't need/use that in the last 12 years. So I do not consider it critical. And can you please stop now? This won't get it fixed any sooner. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Unfortunately, the menu editor cannot be called functional either and is nearly totally useless.
Sorry, but that's nonsense. And I don't know what things "windoze users" would expect, but AFAIK Windows doesn't even have an option like "Create New"->"Link to Application". Anyway, that's out-of-scope for this bug report. Yes, that function is broken at the moment, and we will fix it. But it's not critical, period. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Today, after a new install, and after doing a "zypper up", I am still unable to create a link to application from Desktop Folder.
And what version of kio do you have installed? As I wrote, you will get the fix with the update to 5.19.0. At the moment that's only available in KDE:Frameworks5 though. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

kio 5.16.0-9.1 But this is fixed by opensuse update policy.
Sigh. What's so hard to understand in this sentence? (In reply to Wolfgang Bauer from comment #15)
This will be part of the Frameworks update to 5.19.0.
To be clear: I won't create an update just for that, especially as a full KDE Frameworks update to 5.19.0 is planned anyway and will probably be submitted in the next days. If you want it now, you can install it from KDE:Frameworks5. Oh, and I submitted the workaround to the devel repo on Friday evening (it got accepted Saturday morning). How can you even expect that it's already fixed in Leap on Monday? An official update takes its time, at least a week. And now, please do *not* reopen this bug report any more, unless you can reproduce the problem after installing our KDE Frameworks 5.19.0 packages. Thank you. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

This aggression does not require a response.

Btw, the mentioned KDE Frameworks 5.19.0 update has been submitted to the maintenance process today, with a lot of other fixes/improvements. Should normally be out in a week or so, but in this case it will probably take a bit longer as it is quite big. https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/openSUSE:Maintenance:4726 Satisfied? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
